Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

As mentioned in the midweek thread I'm on these so far:

Yate Town 2.2 Skybet @ Chesham (2.0 Bet 365)
Slough 3.4 Skybet @ Chelmsford (2.5 Skybet)
Hitchin 2.0 Bet365 v Gloucester (1.73 Skybet)
Marine 2.1 Bet365 @ Gateshead (1.91 Skybet)

I'm gonna top up on Marine. Unbeaten in 21 matches or so. Just 15 goals conceeded in the league (which is amazing when leaders ferriby have conceeded 40!) 8 conceeded in 14 away games...didn't play particulary well against Witton away tonight but came away witha 2-0 win.

Gateshead drew 0-0 away with the bottom club Leek last weekend and were exposed time and time again down the flanks. A disgruntled punter had this to say:

"I was at the match today (My second away game of the season) and have to admit that Leek dominated throughout. We created very little in front of goal and only had 3 shots all game - all of which were off target. Their keeper didn't have a save to make all game"

Gateshead were spanked 5-1 at home in their last home game.

10/11 sounds about right.

2.1 at Bet365? Ta very much.

Could well be on Farsley at evens. Will consider Blyth against Burscough.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Sporting Odds price are now out also.

The books seem to be in disagreement about the Nuneaton v Lancaster game. A couple go odds on but you can get 11/10 at Stan James.

The abanded game seemed a bit of a shambles for Lancaster last night though they ultimately got one of the luckiest breaks ever. However, Nuneaton although 2nd in the league have been patchy away from home and last night from reports they were poor drawing 1-1 at home.

I think I'll have to be on them though because they are capable of raising their game and for the reasons I highlighted with Lancaster in the midweek thread.

Also I read that their striker on loan from Crewe: Pope, has gone back so they could be a bit short up top.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Im left feeling a bit uninspired by this weekends non league odds tbh (in comparison to last 3 manic weekends). There may be some decent stuff about but nothing grabbing me as a great bet. Heres my shortlist...

Bishops Stortford v Hayes @ 10/11
Thurrock v Weymouth @ 4/5

Chelmsford v Slough @ 12/5
Redbridge v Harrow @ 10/11

Blyth v Burscough @ 1/1
Radcliffe v Frickley @ 10/11
Wakefield v Leek @ 10/3
Gateshead v Marine @ 11/10

Most of them AMP already mentioned tbh. What im finding this weekend is that the prices are very very tight, theres a lot around evens/slight odds on and im not sure if theres really any value in them. Gona get into my own prices for them to see if I can find discrepancy but im not holding my breath for many bets this weekend from those.

Regarding Hitchin Evens looks about right to me and I couldnt possibly bring myself to back Yate away from home as they are awful. I can see the appeal as they bang em in but they are bottom of the away records in the league. Nuneaton also theyre just not playing well at the moment, on their day id take them but I just dont know if theyre gona turn up at the moment. Id be needing chunkier prices personally to back those 3 teams but good luck if your on them

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

As AMP already mentioned Slough are one to be on this weekend. Skybets 12/5 is just plain wrong basically, a definite mistake. 7/4 is best price elsewhere. Its hard to price it up for me but anything 2/1+ is worth being on for sure, so that 12/5 has heaps of value. Definitely the value bet of the weekend.

Slough won 4 of their last 6 aways and it actually stretches further back with 6 wins from the last 10 aways. Theyre scoring a lot of goals at the moment which is always a plus. I get the feeling they may have had a bit of luck in that run but consistent away victories isnt to be sniffed at. Fisher, Walton and Bromley arent easy places to go to and get 3 points.

Chelmsford whilst a decent side ive backed a couple of times this season myself are struggling with many injuries at the moment (though star striker Boot still remains in the side). Theyve lost 3 of their last 4, just a win at Redbridge in there o halt the run. It has to be said overall theyre home record is decent with 5-5-4 being the statistics and they wont roll over in any way.

I anticipate a closely contested game between the 2 midtable sides with a few goals that I wouldnt be suprised to see it go any of the 3 ways. The fact remains Slough are on MUCH better form and have proved they can put sides away on their travels (victory at Fisher is testament to that). 12/5 is massive to be honest and Im definitely having a decent bet on that, at least 4pts.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

I could well be sticking Weymouth in a double.

I'll hope you' don't mind me sticking up an extremely complimentary match report from Weston's local paper as it is extremely complimentary and will allay some fears us big ante-post backers have at the moment. Some.

"Weymouth demonstrated the full extent of the ever-widening gulf between themselves and the Conference South's part-timers in this one-sided affair at Woodspring Stadium. Out-thought and out-played, Weston had no answer to Garry Hill's expensively assembled team and were effectively beaten by half time.

Determined to re-assert themselves after losing to Farnborough and surrendering top spot to St Albans, the Terras confirmed the benefits of full-time training by running the legs off opponents who remain uncomfortably close to the relegation zone.

The Seagulls have failed to beat their south coast rivals in five meetings this season and their manager, Frank Gregan, will be glad to see the back of the men in claret and blue.

Invariably first to the ball all over the park, Weymouth exerted a stranglehold, courtesy of a three-goal burst in 20 first half minutes.

Keeper Ryan Northmore had already been called upon to make a startling save at the feet of Kirk Jackson when concerted pressure culminated in Ben Smith finding the corner of the net with a powerful drive from the edge of the penalty area.

Smith then turned provider, directing an angled shot against the post and wheeling away in delight as Raphael Nade followed up to tap in.

Powerless to stem the flow, Weston found themselves even further in arrears when Steve Clark set up Jackson to turn and score with a rising shot from 15 yards.

Refusing to crumble, the Seagulls hit back in first-half injury time. Mark McKeever provided Marvin Brown with the opportunity to execute a superb turn and shot that had Terras' keeper Jason Matthews grasping at thin air.

Weston needed to score next if they were going to provide a contest for their second biggest crowd of the campaign, but the visitors denied them so much as a sniff to confirm their return to the summit."

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Of the shorter type prices Im going to be on Frickley this weekend away to Radcliffe @ 10/11.

Frickley away record 7-2-4
Radcliffe home record 4-1-9

Frickley come to this on the back of 5 straight wins and right in the title chase. The run started with an excellent away win at Farsley and then 4 poor sides have been put to the sword since then. When you look at their away results as a whole the few losses they have had have come against the better sides in the league and Radcliffe are far from that. 6 clean sheets in 7 games looks good to me also.

Radcliffe lie next to bottom and are the team with the unenviable record of having lost the most games this season, a mighty 17 from 29. Theyve lost 6 of their last 8 homes (2-0-4 for a last 6 homes form guide). I read in their last game they had many injuries and no striker although Im not particularly worried whether thats still the case or not as it wasnt like they were setting the world alight with a full strength side.

Considering the form and respective records of both sides I think 8/11 would have been a much fairer price for this encounter and the 10/11 is worth taking in my book.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

I see you mentioned Yate AMP. Just a word of warning, new Chesham manager Luther Blissett has moved to bring in Lee Roache a young forward from Barnet. Great signing for this level of football. I've not much clue about the rest of the Chesham side and whether they've made any more signings but it's enough to put me off any interest in Yate.

Roache came on in a friendly at the start of last season when an understrength Bees side were 1-1 with Boreham Wood (probably in a similar class to Yate). Roache preceeded to bang in a 15 minute hat-trick. He also got quite a few useful goals coming off the bench for Barnet last season and even made the Soccer AM showboat reel for last seasons game against Stevenage.

I'm with you all so far on Blyth and Weymouth and will probably take a bit of Frickley too. Good luck chaps.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Well Frodo, that upsets me on a number of levels.

I've been a constant guest at www.cheshamunited.com and the forum for the last month
and it didn't have any mention of this signing (not that I'm doubting it's veracity).

The impression I got was that Blisset was signing dream-team calibre players like the so solid guy for Afc Wimbledon (who's also rumored to be a decent player).

It's one of those situations where I'm commited now and will just have to ride it out. Muze also pointed out Yate's poor away form which is salient. For me though the 2.2 was too much of a tempter and I'm swayed by Yate's goal scoring prowess and Chesham's lack of. Until your mate arrived anyway!

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

It's not on our official site yet to be honest but the BBC have picked up on it which usually means the deal was done few days ago. He's been at Yeading for the past month and seemed to be doing ok their from what I could tell.

Well fingers crossed for you that he's useless if he shows up.

Radcliffe v Frickley - Pitch Inspection at 11am
Radcliffe have also signed Neil Tolson who should do a decent job for them. Still fancy Frickley though.

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Yeah, Frickleys a good shout and I fancy them more for the league than Ferriby.

Radcliffe have signed a shed load of players over the last few months and put in a decent performance every now and then and then go on another bad run. I hope it continues for all you Frickley backers tomorrow.

Oh, BTW - any Bet and Win (only had four cans and actually typed "bent and winner" just then. Weird.) customers who can actually deposit money? ( I can't because apparently they've stopped accepting visa for UK customers. W@nkers).

Croydon look an extremly good bet tomorrow all be it at only 1.9 away to Ashford town. The home side have 4 first teamers suspended and slumped to a 5-0 away defeat in their last game. Before the suspensions...

Re: Non League Weekend - 25th

Can anyone tell me why Workington deserve to be 3/1 against Harrogate???

I'm going to sleep on it but it doesn't make sense for Workington to be that price agianst a team whose recent results against Redditch (Home 1-1) and Barrow (3-1 loss away) haven't been that inspiring.

Their forum detailing injuries is "VIP" so I'll have a look in the morning but the price strikes me as odd.

Mind you so does Lancaster's manager saying we weren't playing too bad at 4-0 down and maybe this'll (the floodlights going out) kickstart our season. Who doesn't keep a spare set of fuses at a football match????
