Re: Tennants Scottish Cup 25th February

Hearts should win against Partick should they, but i think they have been poor of late and you never know with the way this cup is going. I hope Hearts get through as it still means Aberdeen has a small chance of getting into europe if UEFA change the rules on cup teams only being winners.

Falkirk vs Hibs recently was a 0-0, now Falkirk can't win at home in the league played really well against the dons although a bit short upfront but how the hell they didn't win against us i'll never know, watch Scotsport tonight and see how they dominated against us. Funny enough I'd backed the dons but i was really lucky. If Falkirk play like they did against us they have a chance against hibs. Saying that i fancy Hibs to win, think they have more class 4/5 from skybet although i hope there is evens kicking about and i might be interested.

Gretna vs St Mirren is a funny game to price up, but i suppose Gretna are going to be favourites after their display against Clyde but one thing about St Mirren they are tight at the back so maybe St Mirren might get something out this game, but i was wrong about Gretna before.

Hamilton look a bit short considering their form of late i think, Dundee have done ok of late - looks a stay away for me although more research is needed.

I have a wee fancy for Dundee myself. I'm sure I read they really fancy their chances of progressing.... to.... the final. Looking good up front just now and certainly worth some thought. They've sold all their tickets for this one too.

Re: Tennants Scottish Cup 25th February

Initial thoughts are, Hearts will win with something to spare but the other 3 ties are open. Hearts on the handicap might be worth a look as I reckon they'll rack up a few goals.

Hibs couldn't beat Falkirk just over a week ago and could well find it hard going again. Falkirk are sure to have a go and have already beaten Hibs this season. So it's one win each and one draw. That doesn't justify Hibs at odds on away from home. They should be at least evens and I think we've got a good chance of seeing that, on the exchanges at any rate.

Gretna will find St Mirren harder to breakdown than either St Johnstone or Clyde were and this tie looks a real teaser. No surprise the home team are favourites but I won't be in any rush to back them. This looks a contest that could go all the way through another game at Love Street, ending up in a spot kick shoot out.

Hamilton are the early price favourites on their plastic pitch but come kick off I don't think there will be much between them oddswise. Played each other 3 times in the league with each match drawn. Two of these at Hamilton. Dundee have drawn 8/12 away matches in Division 1. Hamilton have only lost twice at home all season. This has got another draw written all over it and I can't make out a case for either team. Could be another long running cup tie.

Milners, I would say the fair odds for this tie is 2/1 each of the three outcomes. It looks very evenly balanced.

7/4 on offer about St Mirren is a big price imo - ok retna will give them a decent game but in a few weeks St Mirren will be in the Prem Division.

I think the game could go either way too, although dundee haven't won head to heads at Hamilton 3 games this season, losing one in the Challange cup. I don't fancy it anyway.

Think they will go up but Ross County might have a say in them going up if they win their game in hand only 3pts behind. I priced Gretna at 5/4 which most bookies are going with that but then again i thought Clyde would give Gretna a game and then go and lose 4-0.

Re: Tennants Scottish Cup 25th February

Falkirk v Hibs - seeing the state of pitches is the topical subject of the moment its worth noting that Falkirks pitch has suffered a bit this season according to todays Metro.

What was regarded as one of the best surfaces about last season has been struck by over-use and also "fungus" this season. And now to compound matters, 24 hours before Falkirk v Hibs in the Scottish Cup, the Scotland v England U21's rugby match will take place at Falkirk. Quite what state a rugby match in what looks like going to be pretty wet conditions will leave an already ropey surface is anyones guess - but it ain't going to improve it thats for sure.

This could have a big effect on Hibs decent passing game and with both teams likely to be curtailed by the conditions under 2.5 goals springs into my head as a potential bet.

Good point there although Falkirk likes to pass the ball on the deck too. I think it could be unders too as i think Falkirk strikeforce is a bit weak and if they was any decent they would have scored quite a few goals against Aberdeen.

Just looking at a stat that Falkirk scoring 2 goals in a game or more just 5 times in the league (Livingston away, Hearts Home, Inverness away, Hibs away, Rangers away).

Just looking at Unders in the SPL with falkirk at home and the record is 6 unders and 7 overs so thats put me off now!!! Although both hibs games at home has been unders.
