You know what, when you see the teams left in it - its hard not to get excited really

1 game away from the quarter finals

Arrrrrrr Garcia just scored - we're gonna flatten Man U at the weekend.

Good to see little Luis back, we have missed him greatly.

Oi wrong thread

Until Villa lost to Newcastle I was very confident of us continuing our good run by beating an inconsistent City....now I think its a definite swerve

Preston & Birmingham worth a look I think

Newcatsle win is now just a formality...still riding high the crest of the wave of the dead cat bounce sydrome....is safe to pile on in these circumstances....looking to double it up with something...chelesa -1 handicap nothing too wrong with that....

Reminds me.....Big Carlton Cole to score anytime vs colchester....must be

Re: FA Cup 5th Round 18th & 19th Feb

Steve Bruce hasnt got a record of fielding weak cup sides & I dont expect him to start here. Blues will still have injuries & that could cost them, but Stoke are desperate & are producing relegation form without a win in 10 in the league & before last nights 0-0 draw at home to Plymouth had lost the previous 4. Lets not forget they needed a penalty shoot out to dispose of lowly Tamworth, before sneaking past Walsall 2-1. Theres open problems at Stoke with the manager having fallen out with John Rudge.

Birmingham are ripe for an upset, & if it was a half decent side in the Championship I'd think about it but Stoke are desperate & as bad as Birmingham are they are way too good for Stoke...who most certainly are likely to be pushovers.

1-0 man u is quoted as 9 on betfair AFU.

These are the results from the recent meetings (since 2002) along with the odds at the time. As you can see it points to the fact that United are much better than Liverpool and will obviously win the game.

Maybet they will win John (and you're predictions have been pretty accurate so far) but backing Newcastle at 1.4 against anybody is a dangerous game. Add to that the cup factor and it's definitely one to avoid for me.

Even though Southampton have only beaten Newcastle once in the last ten attempts, I still wouldn't touch that price with a barge pole.

It took them 80 minutes to score against Mansfield and it goes without saying that Southampton are much better than Mansfield .

As it's a live game, my plan would be to hold out until the price is at least 1.6 before putting any money down but this one could well go to a replay.

Re: FA Cup 5th Round 18th & 19th Feb

In fact I see a minimum of three replays here gents. Might be worth backing ALL the draws

Bolton v West Ham could well be one of them. Bolton have the edge in recent meetings but the cup is a different kettle of fish and West Ham will fancy getting at them I reckon. This is one of those games where everyone predicts a low score but I'm going for the over 2.5 goals on this and predicting a 2-2 result.

Charlton v Brentford. This is what the cup is all about, giving shit clubs a chance to embarass their local superiors . Brentford are flying high in League One so Charlton must be shitting themselves Another potential banana skin and a shock draw for me.

Preston V Middlesborough
This is one of those games that the bookies have already decided will be a draw, so it obviously won't be. Preston are on a phenomenal run of form and it's a shame that it's all going to come to an end against a bag of shit like Boro. Still, they won't be the biggest club they've disappointed this season will they?

Stoke v Birmingham
The battle of the boring midland accents. Bore draw.

Chelsea v Colchester
Away win.

Nah only kidding - it's a draw

Nah....

Villa v Man City
This could be a cracker to round off a weekend of boring FA Cup football. Whatever you do, sell you wife, you're kids or your kidney and lump the proceeds on OVER 2.5 goals and settle down for a goal fest. Who's gonna win? No idea

Re: FA Cup 5th Round 18th & 19th Feb

I agree ODM - a goal fest can be expeced . No Cole for City so it's likely to be old boy Vassell (playing really really well) and new boy , hte goofy Freddy Mercury double Samaras . the lad showed some promise but he turns like an oil tanker and falls like a tree , rough diamond I hope. Defence looks ok , we're short on full backs so if Mills returns that will be a boost . He's usually shyte but he's been less bad under Pearce. Bartons on song and will want to impress any future managers . Villa will need to get at us early if they're gonna win this I think. Maybe swoops can give us the rundown on the Villa midfield.

I fancy a nibble at Preston , they are commanding at home and may have saved a bit from last nights game with this in mind I rekon. It's a game they can win as Boro only beat the big boys

Yes matey your not wrong there will be an awesome game we are riding the wave at the moment and with a fully fit midfield. But more to the point a kinda depleted southampton.

Possible missing players..

Claus Lundekvam
Matthew Oakley
Kamil Kosowiski

and the new guys who are cup tied Raziak, Chaplow, Surman. Who will be a miss!!

The fact we are at home its the 5th round and were playing southampton who we played before away and dicked them 3-1 in the third round. Its a long way from the south coast and a long way back also.

Feel this may be the season for our FA cup sucsess, i have that feeling circa Liverpool champions league win may 2005!!

40pts Newcastle Home win
