Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

Any of you City fans feel like putting me off backing against your side this weekend? Everton at 5/4 looks decent enough to me at Betfair

Won our last 2 homes against Arsenal and Charlton and 8 unbeaten all in all now. Watched football first highlights on the Wigan game last night and we were the better side and looking good. Bit baffled why with our very weakened team but seem to be doing very nicely. Id imagine Martyn and Beattie to be back for this one. Scoring every game now which is nice to see.

Man City results are very poor away from home lately after a good start losing 6 from the last 8 away matches. Lost to Bolton, Wigan, West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle and Arsenal. Dont see any reason why we cant add to that at a nice price.

Anything 6/5 and up looks backable to me. Any team/injury news or anything City fans would like to add to that? Why has your team been underperforming?

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

Portsmouth @ 4.50 vs Newcastle...that will be shorter come KO, I think. I've been following Pompey's and Harry's 'happening's over the last few weeks as I've got them in a season match bet with West Brom ( part of a treble).

From the match reports it is obvious they will need time to get it together, but last nights performance was a sure sign they're getting there.
So many new faces, but they do have the ability...some cracking signings, D'Alessandro in particualr is a stormer.
Routledge is a player I admire when given a good run of games and a show of confidence from the manager/fans...he's young , but he's got it in spades in my opinion...needs the proper handling.
My only real fear is the defence...O'Brien, Primus, Cisse,Griffin, Vignal.....not setting the world on fire, excatly.
With such an abundnace now of attacking minded players, I hope Harry can find the right mix that will get the goals to offset what will continue to be a porous defence.

Having Kiely is great , and Taylor in front of him plus Stefanovic is at least a beginnnng, O'Neill in the centre has done well along with Hughes , but with all these new players , plus Lua Lua still to get into the mix on his return.....Harry has a side chock full of 'offensive' talent...10 strikers!!...(of which some can play behind a frontline)...about 8 midfielders...and 8/9 defenders..( adjust for last minute moves)

Good signs against Bolton , with D'Alessandro written up as a real 'playmaker', Routledge did well , but the quicker he finds the right XI the better....got to be a good side to watch though from here on in....

ANyway..I'm rambling a bit....that 4.50 is too big ..has to snaffled up asap...Newcastle are a side to oppose every week at the moment....no teeth, no real heart, too unpredictable, Come On POMPEY!!!!

Blackburn is worth a further look vs West Brom.....Bentley is in form and if he continues then the Baggies should suffer

Man City and Fulham ...if the AH marks are good enough...worth a thought

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

Surely Birmingham must be taken @ 4,50 against one of the weakest away teams in Prem? Seems like Kerrea Gilbert (who?) was injured yesterday or at least taken off at about 30mins. Campbell playing badly and also taken off att HT, maybe even injured? So their defence looking really vulnerable atm. Pysioroom.com says
Lauren and Clichy could be back on saturday, any truth in this?

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

Welcome Sukka and good to see you getting stuck in mate

Will be back tomorow with my thoughts but i do think Birmingham are worth a shot. Sutton is an inspired signing who is exactly the sort of player they have been missing and the rest of the players are seeming to feed off him and their performances have turned around.

Arsenal on the other hand have been absolute dire on the road this season and it will be a tough game for them with a good few injuries at the back although if its true about them players being back it will certainly be a boost to them.

Can't find anythng confirmed yet but it should become clearer tomorow.

Currently im eyeing up Birmingham, Bolton, West Ham and Fulham.

Thoughts to follow tomorow

Clichy has had surgery and won't return until March.

Lauren will be out for several weeks.

Wenger is concerned for Campbells mental state and Hansen states he is nowhere near fit enough anyway.

Toure is still away and there is no indication of an immediate return for either Cole or Cygan.

Gilbert went off with a back injury.

Campbell will not play this weekend

God knows who will be available.

From the BBC;

Campbell's absence deepens Arsenal's problems at the back, with eight defenders now unavailable.

Ashley Cole, Gael Clichy, Lauren, Kerrea Gilbert and Pascal Cygan are out injured and Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue are away at the African Cup of Nations.

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

West Ham must be as close as you get to printing money this weekend ?? they must of scored the most goals in the prem over the last couple of weeks, going forward is their strong point and always have chances and i cant see them not scoring. Obviously Sunderland are shit and have conceded 43 ? They cant shoot to be fair. Im very confident of a home win, could steam into this quite heavily. Also i like the look of Blackburn, maybe Aston Villa at unpredictable Fiddlesboro.

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

I with Fasteddy with Blackburn,if Blackburn werent in such a rich vein of form I would'nt back them,WBA are hardly on song and look vunrable at the mo.
The last two seasons have seen Blackburn come away with a 2-0 win and a 1-1 draw last season at the hawthorns.

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

I fancy both Villa & Birmingham tbh, I really think Blues could be the bet of the division.

Arent Blackburn carrying injuries as well or am I making that up, just I've got a hunch for Albion as well.....in fact fcuk it I might as well back Coventry, Wolves & Walsall whilst I'm at it

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

I'm already on Blackburn at 8/5 with Stan James.

I just think this is a value bet - their latest form is unbelievable and confidence must be riding high.

There may be others but just thought I'd have a bit of that ......

Re: Premiership 4/5th Feb

Birmingham v Arsenal

Well i thought the 1X here would be a decent bet when the fixtures were released earlier in the week and now after Arsenal's defeat at West Ham and the injuries they have at the minute i don't think i can not try Birmingham here as the price is very nice imo.

I am not quite sure why exactly Arsenal struggle so badly on the road in the EPL this season. They have a side that is perfect for counter attacking football and when you see they have a record of 2-3-6 away from home it is pretty surprising due to the quality in the side.

Everton 1-0 Arsenal
Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal
Charlton 0-1 Arsenal
Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
Bolton 2-0 Arsenal
Wigan 2-3 Arsenal
Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal
West Brom. 2-1 Arsenal
West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
Middlesbro 2-1 Arsenal
Chelsea 1-0 Arsenal

I find this quite worrying and they definately have some sort of problem away as bar Chelsea, and possibly Bolton they should be taking at least a point off these sides as they aren't the best teams they have faced yet.

Still some very tricky ties to OT, Anfield, Ewood to name a few.

West Brom, Boro and Everton are definately games you'd expect them to come away with a victory and to think they only have scored 1 goal in their last 5 away fixtures is pretty worrying to me.

So just going by that the 1X looks a decent shout but then you take injuries into account and it really is very very dangerous for the Gunners.

That is some huge players missing for them and ones you don't have any confidence in Arsenal being able to play their reserve players who would be able to do the same job as theese injured ones.

Birmingham are just the kind of side this make shift Arsenal side won't want to come up against at the minute.

They have some momentum going now and are unbeaten in their last 4 league home games now and will be buzzing after the draw they got from Anfield.

Heskey and Sutton upfront is going to cause the Gunners backline a whole heap of problems. Sutton is an inspired signing imo and will add so much to this side.

Good in the air, great inter play and although he won't score you 15+ goals in a season like he did in his peak he will still notch a few in for them and this was a great bit of business for Bruce.

Pennants form is starting to pick up too and he will be a big player as if he can get some quality balls into the box you'd have to fancy Birmingham to get something from them.

I wouldn't advise big stakes on this but i think it is in with a very good shout.

Birmingham to win @ 3.95 Betfair
Birmingham to draw (cover) @ 3.4
