Re: Non-Leagues - 14/01

2 aways in the Conf North and South respectively, stick out to me...

Workington v Hyde @ 7/4

Hayes v Farnboro @ 6/4

Both look pretty sweet shouts to me.

Hyde have absolutely flown up the table and are bang in form with 7 wins in the last 8. Theyre banging em in as well in 2s 3s and 4s. Workington flatter to deceive and mix their form up one week to the next. Theyre rarely great at home (as a 3-2-6 home record proves) and Vauxhall motors just did the double over them which is pretty awful. What theyve done to deserve being favourites for this match up is beyond me.

Farnboro are a very good side on their day who can beat anyone in the league I think which will see them into a playoff position come the end of season shake up imo. Bit of consistency would go amiss but 5-2-4 away record is decent. Hayes squad is beginning to get stretched thin and is short on real quality. Hayes lost 5 of their last 6 games, only a win at dodgy Yeading sparing their blushes. Theyve a weird home record of 5-0-5 and theyre more likely to lose this than win it for my money.

Nothing else stuck out to me on first glance. As ill be away for this weekend and the next im not going to delve and look further either

Re: Non-Leagues - 14/01

I'm already on Farnboro Muze and it sounded a close (but dull) defeat at home to Weymouth last night.

I think Weymouth will hammer Eastleigh but the odds are way too short.

I'll do some write ups later but briefly I really like Kings Lynn. Nuneaton again should win at Redditch. Maybe a nice double with the Terra's? Where's my calcualtor gone..hmmm 1.91 at those prices. Apparently Weymouth's new signing McGrath had a great game last night and with Elam and Purser returning to fitness i'm hoping they'll go on another run.

Well fcuk my old stinky boots. Sporting odds have got a market up..

2.2 the double. Bonza. 5 points on that then.

What else have they got......Havant 10/11? I don't normally back odds on aways (unless it's due to a special circumstance like chronic injuries / walkouts) but this price sticks out like a sore thumb. Two teams going in opposite directions. Sutton after a storming start have been getting some crap results of late (Lost away to Maidenhead and a draw at home to Carlshalton). Havant will want the win to keep up the pressure on the top. Hmm, I will have to look into this one further as I initially dismissed the fixture.

Sutton fans have been discontented for a while. This is from one of their latest posts on the forum:

I agree we're in a false position in mid-table - the way we're playing, we should be in the bottom 3. And we pretty soon will be if things don't improve quickly. Luckily for us, the bottom 3 are well adrift, but it only takes one of them to start winning and we'll be in trouble (and what better way to prompt a winning run than to donate a win to the likes of Maidenhead).

I want to be on a Lewes / Thurrock double. Yeading are pan't at the moment and Eastbourne (Thurrock's opposition) have both their strikers injured:

http://www.eastbournetoday.co.uk/Vie...icleID=1306774

2.85 the double pays at Sporting odds so I'll have three on that. May as well whack in Kings Lynn for a cheeky 1/2 point five timer....

In the south Hitchin have got a poor away record and I'll have to open up Skybet to check what I'm on as I'm opposing Chesnut and Chesham for reasons that they're bot crap. Hold on:

well, apart from dobling Kings Lynn already it looks like I was waiting for the other books to come out.

o.k, well seems to be the week for doubles and I'll take Banbury / Tiverton.

Banbury's opponents Hitchin have lost their last four away games on the bounce. Whilst Banbury have shown shown shown patchy form away they're unbeaten in their last 6 home games collecting 4 wins and two draws. Hitchin have conceeded 11 goals in their last 3 away games As a benchmark they lost 4-0 away to Kings Lynn and banbury beat them 4-2 at home. Both games have been played in the last fortnight or so. Hitchin's away record is truley shocking - 1/3/7 against banbury's home 6/4/2. So two defeats at home versus 1 away win all season there.

Tiverton have been in great form recently and boast a 7/1/3 home record. They've lost just twice in the last 13 games to Title chasers Chippenham and Sailisbury. Chesham are sinking fast. Their last win came 10 games ago. Their away record stands 3/2/6 and they've scored just 3 goals in their last 6 games with 10 conceeded.

The double for this one pays 3.15 at Bet365 and I'll have 4 points on that.

One other piece of news to pass on regarding the southern is that merthyr's manager has quit to take over a Gloucester.

Sorry it's been a bit all over the place. I was only meant to be in here briefly

To summarise then:

Weymouth / Nuneaton double 5 pts @ 2.2 (Sporting Odds)
Tiverton / Banbury double 4 pts @ 3.0 (Bet 365)
Lewes / Thurrock 3 pts @ 3.0 (Skybet)
Havant 3 pts @ 1.91 (Sporting Odds)

Ohh and I may as well do a "Mug Punter" bet whilst I'm at it..

I took out Weymouth and Havant and put in Worthing for a fiver pays 95 quid. A case of "I'll give you the money myself AMP", but you've gotta have a haven't you?

Re: Non-Leagues - 14/01

hmmm, a word of caution for anyone following my Southern League picks. I've just been looking into them again and I'm not that confident now on the Banbury pick. Hitchin have apparently signed some decent players in recent weeks and played quite well in their last game. Let that be a smack on the wrists for me doing things half-heartedly.

The more I read about Tiverton though the more I like them so I will have another 3 pts on them. Have to stop getting over excited...

Workington without Darren Edmonson for the match against Hyde.
Hyde have actually won 8 out of there last 9 matches , workington manager is quoted in the local paper as saying " its a massive blow to lose Darren " He also mentions how poor Workington are at home.
Which MrM has already highlighted.

Re: Non-Leagues - 14/01

Lewes is looking a better pick the more I look into it. Yeading are on a terrible run at the moment. Taken 4ts from their last 18 and got knocked out of a cup competition (whih they were the holders of so I believe they'd been up for it) 3-2 by an injury hit team from the league below.

Match report here: http://www.harrowboro.co.uk/match.php?match=121

"With the first team squad blitzed by injuries, Manager Johnson Hippolyte went for a blend of youth and experience drawing from first and reserve teams."

Apparently they have an injury crises that has even led to a player being recalled from academises in America!

From 3/1/06

"Yeading face an injury crisis at the start of 2006 with Johnson Hippolyte recalling a number of old faces to his squad. Re-joining the Ding are right wing-back Michael Barima and midfielder Bradley Quamina. Barima has enjoyed spells at Maidenhead United and St Albans City since leaving the Ding earlier this year, while Quamina returns following a spell in the USA on soccer scholarship.

Steve Wales limped off in the warm-up ahead of the New Year’s Eve game at Farnborough Town, and both Bobby Behzadi and Errol Telemaque came off during the second half with injuries that are likely to see them miss a number of games.

Meanwhile, Alex Stanley has left the club to join his home town club of Chippenham Town."

It was noted on the forums that their form hasn't been the best with all their available players fit. I also read that Lewe's pitch is a quagmire at the moment so it's sure to be energy sapping on a depleted squad.

Lewes 7th in the league, 6/3/2 at home (Weymouth and Histon haven beat them) and Yeading 17th. Interesting they are 6/1/3 away so there away for belies there position.

However, Yeading have lost their last 3 games on the bounce. Also, they've only played 2 away games in their last 8 matches. Loosing 3-0 at home to Bognor, 3-2 at home to Hayes and 4-3 at home to Carlshalton is pretty poor.
