Cwmbran v Grange Quins 4th Jan

4 Jan-19:30 Cwmbran v Grange Quins 1.28 4.50 8.00

The two clubs that are in financial trouble facing each other , last week's match was cancelled due to weather.

The Grange are not very sure on who to appoint as manager

This from WPL site

Quote:
NEW Cardiff Grange Quins manager Steve May believes the club will escape relegation from the Welsh Premier.
May has stepped up from third team boss following the resignations of Paul Giles and Mal Camilleri after financial problems saw 11 players exit the Leckwith Stadium.
But in his first game at the helm, May saw the Quins battle to a creditable 1-0 defeat at full-timers Llanelli.
"I'm a Quins man through and through and my aim is to do everything I can to help us avoid relegation," says May, who has never managed or played at this level.
"Even though I'm not experienced at this level, I believe I have the credentials for the job."
May will be assisted by former Cardiff City midfielder Andy Gorman and says: "Andy is well-known in Welsh football, is a very good coach and has good tactical knowledge.
"We've a fantastic squad in many ways, we lack experience but we've got a lot of talented footballers.
"We want to build a strong team unit which is going to enjoy its football, enjoy travelling together and I reckon we're going to pick up a few surprise results," he added.
It was the 1-0 defeat by Llanelli that had me chewing my nails due to my max stake bet on Llanelli and was expecting an easy defeat which never came.

Grange [16th] last 5 matches
2005-12-21 Llanelli [7th]- Cardiff GQ 1-0
2005-12-17 Cardiff GQ - Connahs Quay[15th] 1-4
2005-12-10 Carmarthen[10th] - Cardiff GQ 8-0
2005-12-03 Cardiff GQ - Caersws[9th] 0-5
2005-11-26 Bangor City [5th]- Cardiff GQ 5-1

Cwmbran[14th] last 5 matches
2005-12-17 Newi CD [18th]- Cwmbran 0-0
2005-12-09 Cwmbran - Aberystwyth[12th] 1-3
2005-11-26 Porthmadog[11th] - Cwmbran 5-1
2005-11-19 Cwmbran - Connahs Quay[15th] 2-1
2005-11-12 Carmarthen[10th] - Cwmbran 1-1

Prior to their troubles Grange were an excellent team at home , but poor away.Last week's game was their first for a long time that did not involve a high scoring match. This will be their new manager's first match .It was reported that Grange defence had improved but Llanelli finishing was poor .

Cwmbran's recent run has been against teams that are in the bottom half of the table.Their performance against my side Porthmadog was very poor defensive , they were the team that gave Connah's Quay a chance to come out of the poor run of no wins. This was C.Q. first win of the season .The Aber match was the return of their ex manager Coyne back to Cwmbran.

Cwmbran have just made a new signing see below from WPL site

Quote:
CWMBRAN Town have strengthened with the signing of Lewis Sommers from Merthyr Tydfil.
A Welsh Under-19 international, the 6' 4" striker is a product of the Newport County academy who played for Welsh Leaguers Newport YMCA, where he scored 20 goals last season, before joining the Martyrs
Before I bet on this match I would like more information , Grange are the whipping boys of this league , but Cwmbran are a poor side .Which is the poorer is the question . A side that only loses 1-0 to Llanelli at home must have organized their defence.

8.0 FROM bet365 is large price considering how poor Cwmbran are attackingly . up to last game Grage were poor in defence .I am having a small stake on the Grange based mainly on that game against Llanelli .Llanelli have since beaten Port Talbot [2nd] twice since.

Top effort traeth - hows the weather down that way looking for tomorrow? A cold, wet and windy night and the case for opposing the favourite would be strengthened further.

Thanks Beanie , the weather up here is fine ,cold and clear , it does not mention any wind or rain for the South of Wales so we will have to depend on the ineptitude of Cwmbran mate.

This is the latest from WPL site

Quote:
STEVE May starts the toughest job in the Welsh Premier tonight when his Cardiff Grange Quins travel to face Cwmbran Town.
The clash of two cash-strapped clubs is a vital six-pointer in a battle against the drop, with the sides set to meet again in two weeks' time in the postponed Christmas fixture.
New manager May's rallying cry is "don't write us off" and the former Quins' third team boss is not frightened by the challenge.
"Even though I'm not experienced at this level, I believe I have the credentials for the job," he says.
The Crows go into tonight's game without recent loan signing from Merthyr, midfielder Richard Ingram and winger Chris Rogers. Ingram is sidelined after breaking his collar-bone over the festive period while Rogers has a leg injury picked up in the Under-21s recent 5-1 win over Carmarthen Town.
But manager Sean Wharton is likely to hand a debut to new striker Lewis Sommers, also from the Martyrs.
"I said previously that I'm not going to put any more importance on playing the Quins just because we're expected to beat them," says Wharton.
"However this game marks the start of a difficult period for us and it would be good if we could begin it with a victory."

I remember that nail biting Llanelli match well, traeth. 8.00 for Grange has got me well interested.
