Re: FA Cup 3rd Round 6th/7th/8th Jan

Reading look worth a gander at 3.2 away to the Baggies, Albion generally are solid at home but theyve not had a good xmas & Reading could want this more I think, & Watford possibly at home to Bolton as Bolton are a funny side who are good but can be unpredictable...especially if Big Sam decides hes not interested in the cup this year.
Going on last years at Burnley, are Luton worth looking at @ 7.00 to beat Liverpool ?? Wouldnt have thought so but if my memory serves me well I think Luton have a good record against Liverpool.
Before Birmingham won today I'd have said they would be the most nervous travellers to Torquay but they should relax a little now & although I still think it could be an upset I think they'll be ok.
Both Sheffield clubs at home at 3pm on a saturday ?? does that normally happen ?? Charlton are struggling & they have an awful record in early cup rounds....Sheff Weds won easy today I think & this one could be interesting.
Boro arent exactly convincing lately & I think Nuneaton can give them a fright, & I think theyre red hot at home in the league.
Hull I think would have fancied Villa, & still will but I think Villa will be ok after a good xmas period that will have relaxed them a little.
I can see Ipswich giving Pompey a battle & I reckon the 2 most likely upsets at first glance are Orient away at Fulham & Millwall at home to Everton. Normal logic says they dont stand a chance & it'll take a lot more looking into & a lot of luck & Evertons recent 2 wins will help them but Millwall can be tough at home & scared the crap out of Birmingham in the Carling Cup, & I think Everton will have to be resilient. Orient have a good away record & I'll have to look more into recent form but thats the archetypal uset to me...decent away side doing well against a struggling prem side admittedly with a decent home record.
Lots to work on

If I can get double figures on Northwich away to Sunderland ill have a very very small bet on that. Probly just for interests sakes at the end of the day but one thing Northwich can do is score goals.

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round 6th/7th/8th Jan

Cardiff might be worth a pop. So much depends on what team actually takes to the pitch. They are on a decent run at the moment and Cameron Jerome will surely want to make a name for himself on the big stage.

Leeds showed a lot of spirit tonight beating plymouth. They are dogged and might be worth a pop at 4.33, decent run of form too. Wigan will be tired surely & they have shown they can be prone to conceding a few.

I think Baros is hitting a bit of form (I always knew he would) and would deffo fancy Villa around evens....

Why hasnt he settled at any club he has been at? Hmm. Shame that he never played alongside Crouch, he is deffo a 2nd striker and would have been the perfect foil for Crouch IMO. He's a lanky Jan Koller. Swap you Cisse for Baros

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round 6th/7th/8th Jan

Nah, weve had enough of your cast offs....we'll try someone elses thanks

I like him but I think that when he didnt play for about 3 weeks, went to the internationals, played twice & then came back & missed another 4 weeks...the writing was on the wall. The crowd have been turning ever since really, & hes being judged on the foreign flops weve had before. Nothing a sustained run like the last 4 games wouldnt put right mind you.
Hes a good player but reading the interviews & listening to those in the know hes got the typical attitude that he expected us to be challenging for europe not fighting to stay clear of the drop zone.....why I dunno, hasnt he seen the table the last couple of years
Villa are nothing more than mid table & I think weve over achieved in a couple of seasons tbh. The return of Mellberg today got us through v the Albion, but I think when Baros came to Villa he always knew there was a WC at the end of the season to bale him out if need be. I think Villa arent high profile enough back home for him......

Blackburn were as short as 1.57 to beat Portsmouth today with Bet365, they are not that much shorter at 1.44 to face a mid table Championship side. Contrast that with Arsenal (same points as Blackburn) playing Cardiff (3 places higher than QPR) who are 1.10.

If I could get 1.50 I would take it for a team who are up to 7th now, won 3 in a row over Xmas and New Year and are looking quite good at the moment. Even the 1.44 is tempting as I do think there is a big gap between the better EPL sides and mid table Championship teams.

My exact thoughts when i seen the lot of the fixtures there thinking Blackburn have been close to them odds playing far superior sides.

Thats my banker of the round anyways.

Blackburn should beat least 1/3 or 1/4 imo for this game. They are playing superbly at the minute.

Solid backline and keeper. A midfield that has great battling qualities aswell as some creative edge and support their attackers well. Then upfront you have Kuqi, Dickov and Bellamyat the minute who are all on form scoring goals regularly at the minute.

Everything is in place for them to go from strength to strength. They have a great home record too.

I'll definately be on this with one of my bigger bets, will try later in the week to try and get matched at 1/2 or better on betfair from which i will certainly fire right into.

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round 6th/7th/8th Jan

Definately some value in Birmingham @ 1.44, i know they're playing rubbish at the moment but they should be able to beat a side 3rd bottom of league 2. I think they're in a false position in the league and are far better on paper, at least, than the sides around them.
This could be the sort of game they need to boost their confidence and set them up for an attempt to beat relegation.
When you look at the possible line up Torquay should'nt have a chance;

Taylor; Melchiot, Cunningham, Upson/Taylor, Lazaridis; Pennant, Gray, Clemence, Jarosik, Dunn; Heskey/Pandiani.

Until i see the teams i'll steer clear, but i do fancy Birmingham if Bruce puts out a strong side.

Early thoughts..

Brentford 1.90 at Stockport i'll look more into that one but Brentford going very well in Div one and Stockport rock bottom of Div 2

Spurs, Barnsley and Portsmouth are on my shortlist too but Brentford are standout, they have won 50% of all away matches this season against much better opposition than Stockport.

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round 6th/7th/8th Jan

Must admit Brentford caught my eye as well Kop & I agree theyre worth looking at.

Barnsleys a strange one, I'd agree on the fact that Walsall away are poor but as its the cup you never know, & its Jorge Leitaos last game before returning to Portugal with Beira Mar due to personal reasons & hes a real favourite. i'm not sure if thats a good enough reason to avoid Barnsley or not but it will fire walsall up no doubt. Another thing is that Matty Fryatt missed yesterdays game at Bristol & I dont know why yet but with it being the 1st game in January & hes Walsalls biggest assett.......he may be going I would think

Can we hold Man Utd for a draw or am I just dreaming? I cannot see them making the same mistake as they did last year with Exeter.

Be aware though that while stockport are gash, they have only lost twice at home all season ... albeit a league lower ...and knocked Swansea out 2-0 in the last round.
