Re: English Championship 31st Dec

great stuff Keem and good to see you back on The championship thread. I was here to ask about Preston's chances and the stat of only 2 teams not leaving with something has put me off them. Maybe i could chance them yet. Anyone mind the shitty bbc team news? I'll post them up. Just seem to be worth a brouse to me. I know theyre shite though.

Re: English Championship 31st Dec

Brighton v Millwall
Brighton's Argentine striker Federico Turienzo could miss out after picking up a hamstring injury against Luton.
Richard Carpenter is expected to continue in central midfield in place of the injured Charlie Oatway.

Paul Robinson can play for Millwall after appealing successfully against his red card at Leicester.

Centre-back Matt Lawrence is still suspended, but Marvin Elliott has a chance of playing despite sustaining a knee injury on Wednesday.

Burnley v Sheff Wed
John Spicer is doubtful for Burnley after being forced off through injury at Norwich on Wednesday.
However, defender Wayne Thomas is returning to full fitness and managed 45 minutes against the Canaries.

Teenage striker Danny Reet has been recalled from his loan spell at Bury and is set to be included in Sheffield Wednesday's squad.

Defender Frank Simek misses out after being booked for the fifth time, with John Hills expected to step in.

Cardiff v Southampton
Cardiff defender Rhys Weston is facing a race against time to be fit from a hip injury sustained on Boxing Day.
Should Weston recover, he will replace Neal Ardley with manager Dave Jones likely to make other changes.

Southampton have a host of injuries, with Darren Powell (hamstring) the biggest doubt for the game.

Nathan Dyer is racing to recover from a dead leg, Rory Delap has a sore ankle but is expected to be fit, while Antti Niemi hopes to shake off a virus.

Crewe v QPR
Michael Higdon's stomach injury keeps him out of the Crewe team, while Richard Walker (ankle) and keeper Ben Williams (wrist) also remain out.
Defender Adie Moses will be hoping to make his return after being left out in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Coventry.

QPR could again be without injury-prone striker Marc Nygaard.

Forward Kevin Gallen (hamstring) and midfielder Tommy Doherty (fibula) are both out, but Steve Lomas (hamstring) could come into contention.

Derby v Reading
Derby manager Phil Brown has a fully-fit first-team squad, with Marc Edworthy and Paul Boertien fit again after knee injuries.
Danny Graham is available for the last time as the Middlesbrough striker's loan spell expires after the match.

Reading boss Steve Coppell is set to make changes to his tiring side, with midfielders Steve Sidwell and Bobby Convey set to sit out the game.

Striker Leroy Lita and winger Glen Little are also likely to be out.

Ipswich v Luton
Ipswich striker Nicky Forster is rated 50-50 after jarring his knee in Wednesday's defeat to Hull.
Richard Naylor could start up front, with the out-of-sorts Dean Bowditch Ipswich's only fit striker. Gavin Williams (ankle, knee) is also a doubt.

Luton manager Mike Newell hinted striker Rowan Vine could be recalled, even though his replacement Warren Feeney scored in the win over Brighton.

Midfielder Peter Holmes misses the match with a knee injury

Leeds v Hull
Leeds forward Richard Cresswell is expected to keep his place in a three-man strikeforce, with Rob Hulse still struggling with a hip problem.
Gylfi Einarsson remains sidelined with a dislocated shoulder and Frazer Richardson (knee) is still struggling.

Hull boss Peter Taylor has no fresh injury or suspension concerns and looks set to continue with the strike pairing of Craig Fagan and Billy Paynter.

Defender Roland Edge is still out with a groin strain.

Leicester v Norwich
Midfielder Danny Tiatto returns to contention after a one-game suspension.
Defender Alan Sheehan is also back in the fold after completing a two-match ban, but the game may come too soon for midfielder James Wesolowski (shin).

Norwich striker Dean Ashton is struggling to recover from injury, while Leon McKenzie is doubtful after picking up an ankle problem.

There are question marks over the fitness of Jason Shackell and Jim Brennan, who have both had a virus.

Preston v Coventry
Preston will still be without defender Callum Davidson (hamstring) and midfielder Paul McKenna (leg).
Keeper Andy Lonergan will miss the season with a serious knee injury.

Coventry midfielder Micky Doyle serves a one-game suspension and Robert Page is out for six weeks following surgery on a broken cheekbone.

Richard Duffy is expected to make the squad despite a broken nose but Marcus Hall is a doubt and Stuart Giddings, Stephen Hughes and Neil Wood miss out.

Sheff Utd v Stoke
Midfielder Alan Quinn is expected to return to Sheffield United's squad after recovering from a groin strain.
Warnock has no other new injury or suspension problems, but defender Craig Short (calf) remains sidelined.

John Halls is a major doubt for Stoke after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 home defeat to Leeds.

Winger Luke Chadwick could play his last loan game before tying up a permanent move. Clint Hill and John Eustace (both knee) remain sidelined.

Watford v Crystal Palace
Watford are confident Anthony McNamee will recover from the knee problem that forced him to come off after 42 minutes of the goalless draw at Millwall.
Striker Ashley Young (ankle) is still out, so Marlon King and Darius Henderson should continue in attack.

Crystal Palace could have three key players back.

Ben Watson returns after suspension, fellow midfielder Michael Hughes is expected to start and winger Marco Reich could also return.

Wolves v Plymouth
Wolves striker George Ndah is expected to be out for six weeks after suffering medial knee ligament damage in the win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Full-back Lee Naylor (knee) could also miss out, but Gabor Gyepes and Mark Kennedy may be recalled and Mark Davies is back from a hernia operation.

Plymouth are hoping playmaker Akos Buzsaky shakes off an abdomen injury.

Right-back Paul Connolly is available after completing a one-match ban, but will probably only make the bench.
