Re: CC Championship 28th December

who told me Watford were in poor form before yesterdays game? they seem to be going great guns. Surely a visit to the new den wont scare them (maybe their fans will be scared) Watford won the last 4 v Millwall inc 2 visits to The en when Millwall were a better side.

Coventry i could take if the word on the street is positive. i would want nearer 4/5 mind. Theres been a bit of money for Burnley but i qwuite like Norwiches recent form. Won their last 3 and scoring goals in the process. Anyone?

Preston are unbeaten in 14 games and won at Plymouth earlier this year. Draws a orry i suppose. Sheff Wed havent scored a goal in their last 6 games

Reading have won their last 9 and are unbeaten in 24 games. Thing is theyve played Leicster twice in the last 12 months and only picked up 1pt from 6.

Palace v Derby looks like a draw to me too. Anyone help me as i know sod all about the intrinsics of it all.

Tough fixtures Komp - I don't want to get involved but I've not really got the will power.

Luton and Wolves are the two on my shortlist.

Sheff Wed havent won in 8 (6 defeats and 2 draws) and Wolves in last 8 (win 3 draw 5) excluding defeat on Boxing Day to Reading. Don't know though as both teams aren't scoring much but to be fair aren't leaking much either.

Looking further into the Luton game _ I'm again not sure as Brighton have picked up of late where as Luton havent won in 4. Luton however have only been beaten twice at home all season and Brighton have only won once away from home (but have only lost 3)...............

If I have the will power NO BET in this division.

You've got me thinking about Watford too............5/4 is good enough to sway me I think.

Wolves 5/4
Watford 5/4
Luton 5/6

Re: CC Championship 28th December

i got wiped out this boxing day and have to start all over again . i cant remember when the last time is I got things so wrong!.
Anyroad I fancy Norwich here too , they are in good form and have a good striker in form , Ashton has 11 so far this term even though the cnaraies have been stuttering. Burnley are formidable at home but not so good on the road and the roads dont get much longer than to east anglia. I'm gonna look into this a bit more before I decide.
Watford should win but I'm steering clear of away predictions for the time being. As it turned out Southanpton had no centre halves against watford on monday , a crucial fact really that I overlooked . They had that monster Darius Henderson reaking havoc up front winning everything in the air and popping in the opener.

Plymouth look very big at home there against preston , the whites are a shodow of their former formidable outfit , they do have Nugent but I'll check team news. Preston are the draw speacialists but I fancy the pilgrims here after underestimating them badly on sunday. They thouroughly deserved their win at ninian on boxing day and must be shorlisted at least to make it 3 on the bounce.

Re: CC Championship 28th December

Palace and Luton are struggling a bit at home of late. Brighton and Derby are two teams who make it tough to beat them on the road when they dig in. Id be interested in laying Palace and Luton if they are odds on. I certainly wouldnt back them anyway.

Youd expect the clubs with bigger squads to start to have an edge this week. Palace and Norwich have kept large squds havent they?

Re: CC Championship 28th December

The more I look at Plymouth the more I like what I read. They had 3 up front at Ninian on BD , they beat Palace at home last time out and were denied an away win at third place Watford by a late goal. Preston aint scoring or conceding , they are doing nothing really , Nugent was the only player to threaten the Owl's leaky defence on BD.
They are solid defensively mind , unbeaten in 14 league games , 1 goal scored in 3 gives me hope , davidson's injury is a blow as he's been scoring recently . I think this is worth a small investment aqs a singly with just above minimal confidence

plymouth 7/5 (5/10)

Re: CC Championship 28th December

Hull v Ipswich

I was reading the other day how Hull managed to take maximum points last year over the festive holiday. They employed squad rotation.

I know that this is a higher level and Hull are not very consistent but it seems Taylor is doing it again. The fans were not pleased with his team selection or substitutions against Crewe on Boxing Day but I get the impression that some decisions were made with tonights game in mind.

Ipswich are only an average side this year and they are likely to have a young inexperienced keeper between the sticks due to injury problems.

The game is in doubt even though they have undersoil heating. A pitch inspection will take place this afternoon. If its on then the 2.50 on Hull may be worth a chance

Re: CC Championship 28th December

I was looking at this game myself WAS but I convinced myself that Hull weren't playing well enough to warrant support. This quote from Royle is telling though

Quote:

"I have said since I was a player in football that any team is only as good as its front players and we are bereft - we have only one striker."
I assume he means Forster who's scored 1 in 13 . Palace went down to 9 men against them on BD , however Ipswich aint bad on their travels .
