Re: Non League on Boxing Day

Jesus is that price for real on Hereford? Who's offering that?

Take it

Just take it

The're only down the road and we'll be back for tea after beating those inbreds with 3 points, we always whop em, always. Anyone got any head to head stats?

We're back in form, Stansfield's the man.

Since losing to Stockport in the last round of the FA Cup Hereford have beaten York in the league 1-0, Bognor Regis in the FA Trophy 1-7 (7 different scorers) and tonight got another deserved 2-0 win in the LDV against Div 1 Scunthorpe.

Not much team news at the mo' but taken from the FGR site...

...Owers will be aware however of the next match at home to Hereford on Boxing Day so with three players already sidelined through injury, he may decide to give one or two of the fringe players a chance to claim a first team start.

Striker Zema Abbey looks set to be on the sidelines for a short period adter limping off down at Weymouth with a hamstring injury. Defender Jon Richardson picked up a foot injury just before the Weymouth match whilst Mark Beesley has just started training following a setback after his knee operation.

Midfieder Scott Rogers has been re-called back from his extended loan period at Weston Super Mare.

I think Hereford have a near fit squad but T.James did come off tonight at Ht, i dont know if it was through injury yet but he's our captain and has to be regarded as a key player.

FGR have won their last 2, beating Burton in the league 1-0 and Weymouth 0-1 in the FA Trophy but they tend not to fair to well against higher opposition as there previous form shows with just 1 point from a possible 18.
On loan Danny Alsop may pose a threat but i still think we're into them for 6pts over the Xmas period.

Re: Non League on Boxing Day

Yeah, Hereford's 7-1 result made me sit up and take notice and I've gone for a novelty ht/ft at 3/1 with Stan the man James.

At work at the moment but I'd like to share a few punts I've taken on initial inspection of the prices.

Northwich Vics to beat Droylesdon (at 6/5 is memory serves)
Can't remember if I'm on Worksop but I need to look into that game.
Evesham look a cracking bet atabove evens (hold on-prices aren't up so I'll just edit that now...) as do Hayes to beat an out of sorts Yeading.

With Dorchester's dramatic improvement in form and one of the best away records in non-league football the 9/2 or thereabouts is serious value for punters who like to play it that way.

Re: Non League on Boxing Day

Hi lads was looking to go against Aylesbury again after they lost 2-0 at home to Merthyr Tydfil. They are playing Chesham united away and Coral and betandwin have Chesham United at 6/5. But i wonder why Chesham are 6/5 although i've noticed they haven't won in 6!!! But with Aylesbury losing a few of their first team squad and manager is this worth a punt or not. I have lack of knowledge on non-league footie in England but just thought i would ask you experts on your thoughts on Chesham and Aylesbury.

Maybe i should just stick to Scottish football

Re: Non League on Boxing Day

Sparkling Bulls stride to comfortable success

HEREFORD United produced one of their most sparkling performances of the season to march into the LDV Vans Trophy northern semi-finals for the second successive season, writes Richard Prime.

First-half goals from Adam Stansfield and Tamika Mkandawire gave Hereford a victory which could have been even more convincing.

"The first-half was about as well as we could have played," said Bulls director of football Graham Turner. "The only disappointment was that we hadn't killed them off."

Hereford produced a scintillating first-half display that stunned their League One visitors, scoring twice, hitting the woodwork three times and having a clear penalty denied.

The Bulls took the lead on 16 minutes when Tom Evans parried a Rob Purdie shot and Stansfield rifled home his third goal in three games.

Guy Ipoua blasted a first-time shot against a post on 18 minutes while, on 36 minutes, an inswinging Alex Jeannin corner came out off a post.

Five minutes later, a flying volley by Purdie hit the bar and went over.

Hereford got a deserved second goal two minutes before the break when Mkandawire rose unchallenged to head in Purdie's corner.

After the break, Hereford understandably eased off but still had the better of the openings.

In the closing stages, Craig Mawson pulled off two brilliant saves from Billy Sharp and Lee Ridley in quick succession but Hereford were comfortable and deserved winners.

HEREFORD: Mawson; Travis, Mkandawire, James (Beckwith 46), Jeannin; Williams, Pitman, Ferrell, Purdie; Stansfield (Evans 90), Ipoua (Brady 71). Subs not used: Lewis, Stanley.

ATTENDANCE: 1,452.

Re: Non League on Boxing Day

Hmmmm, strange things happen in the LDV, for me it's not an indication of how the game will go. However I'm always happy to back Hereford and although FGR will be no mugs (after winning at Weymouth in the trophy), though a full strength Hereford side is always good value. The result that swings it for me is the Trophy result against a Conference South side (Bognor) who probably aren't that far short of FGR in terms of talent. An on song Hereford side have always been able to anhilate teams towards the bottom and if Kop says they're on song that's good enough for me. Might even be tempted by the -1 or the HT/FT. What's happened to Carey-Bertram Kop?

I'll chuck in one of my own, Morecambe at Southport, Southport have lost 6 in 6 whereas Morecambe have been picking up under the management of Sammy McIlroy (who knows how to win the conference). A 3-0 home win against Grays followed by a 4-0 win in the Trophy at albeit a poor Vauxhall Motors side demands attention.

Might try one of my cheeky handicap doubles. At first glance 17.64 with Gamebookers.

Re: Non League on Boxing Day

I'm not sure what's happened to Carey-Bertram Frodo
He may be being rotated every couple of games with Ipoua now Stansfield is back.

I know what you mean about strange things happening in the LDV too, it's fair to say the players might of been more up for that game than they would of been this one but now its won and out of the way i'm sure they will know not to switch off.
This is the time of year when Turner makes his push for the play offs and it's hard to see a team that is 3rd bottom keep a 3rd consecutive clean sheet.
Should be odds on not odds against imo and i'd give it a confidence rating of 9/10

I like the look of Morecambe too, Exeter look good value and i wouldnt be to suprised if Crawley cause an upset Woking but i'll leave them all in order to more on The Bulls

Re: Non League - Boxing Day / 27th

Anyone care to tell me why Workington are 6/4 away to Vauxhall Motors? Looks a gift to me that one. Vauxhall lose all the time and Workington are a decent away side. Let me check the home and away records...

Vauxhall 1-2-5 and Workington 4-3-2 away

Yep Coral go as low as 11/10 on it, its defo a good price that 6/4

Re: Non League - Boxing Day / 27th Dec

And Workington have picked up again recently with wins over Kettering and Droylsden (think SuperA was on that one?) - so no I can't tell you why and I think it's a good price too

Hereford and Evesham look decent as mentioned.

Also I think Gloucester are overpriced away at Halesowen, especially given their recent form, and more to the point their away form... 1-3-2 v 4-1-1, with 1-2-1 for the home side and 3-0-1 for the away. Not sure why the discrepancies in prices given the teams they've both played in that form, league positions, etc. Not on it yet, but seriously considering it.

Very tempted with Harrogate based on form, recent performances, league positions, etc. The 2.1 seems OK for this as I rate them over 50% to be able to get the win.

Re: Non League - Boxing Day / 27th Dec

Yeah Gloucester are on my currently rather large shortlist! A similarly priced pick is Hinckley away to Kettering at 13/5, could be more even than the odds would have you believe that one.

Ive taken Harrogate as I think 10/11 would be more fair.

Also on Northwich at 6/5, you cant go far wrong with that price imo. Could even be a great price as Droylsden are in dodgy form and got a few players out.

Staines are good things as well at 13/8 away to Hampton. Hampton are starting to get found out now and are in pretty indifferent form. Struggling for goals at home as well. Staines could well punish them at a chunky price.

Looking at Lewes as well at 6/4 away to the stuffy Eastbourne. At a lesser price I wouldnt be interested but 6/4 is pretty big for a team who score like Lewes do. You always fancy them for a couple and Eastbourne rarely score more than once.

Trawling for early forum/site news and found this about Evesham: http://www.thisiseveshamunitedfc.co....INS_NEWS0.html
Slightly out me off to be honest. Might abstain from that one for now.

Yeah saw that Krider but apparently the replacements are described as "Dependable" so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. I sill think a price above evens is puntable though.

Ofcourse, I saw it after I put the bet on (mug) but it does stop me from topping up.

Re: Non League - Boxing Day / 27th Dec

I have to say for me that the odds on Evesham are no more than fair, I find it hard to back shit teams at odds like that tbh. Hereford I make 6/5 as well so I wont be on them either. Can see why people are interested as they might be getting their scoring boots back on cos Stansfields back in but for me its a bit unproven as to whether they have or not cos theyve been really goalshy this season compared to others. Dont like that Forest Green have won their last 2 either. Good luck if youre on either tho

Im on Lewes away to Easbourne and thats the only Conf South play for me this boxing day. I dont normally advocate backing against stuffy teams (of which Eastbourne are one) but if the price is right, which I believe 6/4 is, and I can find a reason to, ill still do it.

It goes without saying that Lewes are a much better side than Eastbourne but Eastbournes home record of 1-5-2 is a worry for the draw. Looking into it im less worried and I think its wrong that bookies are pricing this a totally even encounter. Bit of a statty bit this but could lead to how the game may pan out -

Eastbourne only 4 times from 19 games have scored more than 1 goal.

Lewes 13 times from 19 games have scored more than 1 goal.

19 goals for Eastbourne and 43 for Lewes in the league. If Lewes get their nose infront youd certainly expect them to pick up the points here and baring that in mind at 6/4 ill take that risk.
