To be honest i wouldnt touch the gunners here.

3 losses on the trot now and they are really lacking that goal instinct right now. Since Henry and Van Persie have been injured they have struggled taking their chances and are struggling right now.

Newcastle compete very well down the years at home to Arsenal and i see no differet here.

They might be a poor side but they have some quality players in their side that can do the Gunners damage.

Think its one to avoid myself.

Re: English Premiership: 9th April

Quite like Villa myself here.

Dont rate this Wigan side at all and Villa coming off a great away win to Blackburn.

Things starting to look better and their last home game against Everton they were superb second half and they will look to continue this.

Carew and Young possibly still injured but Maloneys come in and done a good job i have felt.

Only worry just now is the lack of physical presence upfront for Villa but i do think they look a promising pick right now.

It could be argued Newcastle are in need of points. Roeder said that 1 more win and that will be them definately safe. A win would alsopush them into contention for UEFA Cup spot.

Dangerous aswell backing teams who 'need' to win. Always the worry of them going all out for it leaving themselves exposed.

Sorry Rever btw lol - im not meaning to put you off backing Arsenal. Just trying to make you aware that its a difficult match for them.

Attention switches away from the title race on Easter Monday as both Chelsea and Manchester United play in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Instead, the race for Europe and the battle to avoid relegation come to the fore as six games take place in England's top flight.

Bolton and Everton face off at The Reebok Stadium in the meeting of fifth and sixth, whilst Arsenal will be hoping to stave off the threat of both sides when they travel to Newcastle, live on PremPlus.

Portsmouth are still targeting Europe and visit Watford, who look to be dead and buried at the bottom of the table, in the early kick-off on Sky Sports 1.

Charlton have boosted their own prospects of survival with an improved run of form and will hope to continue their revival in a home game against Reading which is also live on Sky Sports 1.

The Addicks are only two points behind Wigan at present, and Paul Jewell's side are in desperate need of a result when they take on a resurgent Aston Villa in the Midlands.

Fulham are another side hoping to avoid being pulled into the drop zone and host Manchester City, who are just two points ahead of them in 14th.

Watford v Portsmouth - 12.45pm, Sky Sports 1
No team has conceded more home goals than Watford this season (21). Pompey have gone six Premiership away games since a win.

Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic - 3pm
Aston Villa have failed to defeat Wigan in three Premiership matches. Wigan have won only one of their last eight Premiership away games.

Bolton Wanderers v Everton - 3pm
These two sides have not drawn a Premiership game since December 2002. Everton have only failed to score in one of their last six games against Bolton.

Fulham v Manchester City - 3pm
None of the Fulham players who have scored at home against Manchester City are still at the club. No side has won more away games in 2007 than City.

Newcastle United v Arsenal - 3pm, PremPlus
Arsenal have won only two of the last 10 Premiership trips to St James' Park. Newcastle have won more away games than home games against London sides this season.

Charlton Athletic v Reading - 8pm, Sky Sports 1
There has not been a draw at the Valley in 2007. Manchester City are the only home side to fail to score against Reading in 2007.

Re: English Premiership: 9th April

Arsenal at first glance.
They only got beat by the woodwork and several brilliant saves from Green , they were as usual , a joy to watch , decent win for the Geordies yesterday , but i really fancy the gunners to come away with all three points.
Scott Parker a major doubt for the geordies.

Bit of team news for the Charlton game......

Quote:
Matt Holland returns to the Charlton squad after being rested from Friday's draw with Manchester City.

Ben Thatcher and Bryan Hughes could also be involved after recent absences from the Addicks line-up.
Reading will be without Michael Duberry after suffering blurred vision in his accidental clash of heads with Ivar Ingimarsson against Liverpool. Glen Little is out with an Achilles injury and joins Ibrahima Sonko and Bobby Convey on the sidelines

Re: English Premiership: 9th April

Chartlon look quite tempting on current form, I was not overly impressed with them at City but they defended well and did create some good chances against a half decent City defense.
Given more support from midfield and they would have won this match.

Reading seem content now they have premiership safety and seem to be going through the motions at the moment but saying that they have been on a run of games against mostly top premiership sides and non of the results were unexpected.

Still Charlton will be desperate for the points here and playing at the Valley should give them the nod.

Re: English Premiership: 9th April

Charlton and Portsmouth looks very interesting to me. Charlton are fighting for survival and are up against the surprise team of the season, Reading. Readings season looks over and they can be proud of themselves. Charlton a big favorite here.

Portsmouth wants a UEFA-Cup spot and are up against next seasons Championship league team Watford. They beat Man.Utd and will also beat Watford. Three points for Harry's boys.

Re: English Premiership: 9th April

On the first look Charlton for me. If we look objective, Reading can't take Europe place. Above them are some quite good teams. Their mission to stay in league is accomplished. On the other side, Charlton is in form, winning on home ground, every point is important for them, they will bite on field, fight for every ball. Motivation is key factor here. Charlton really looks like decent team to bet on. Will wait to see more details about this game.
