Your favourite league for betting

Pondering this today, am mind turns to summer leagues - Aussie, MLS, maybe a cheeky Norwegian - and I'm thinking which is your favourite league?

I sense a real appetite in Komp for his Aussie stuff , and plenty of people swear by non-league punting.

Personally, I prefer betting at the highest level I can - for example, I'll pass championship fixtures in the week if champions league is on.

What is your favourite punting league and why?

Re: Your favourite league for betting

Interesting question brimson as i slag all the leagues i follow off as being 'little whores' This season i aint had a great season in Scotland though it has picked up since the start of February and i'd like to think i'm a little a head of the pricemakers. Yip Ladbrokes still offer the best value in scotland for me for about the last 3 seasons. I don't know who makes up Ladbrokes prices but it wouldnt suprise me to see that he's married onto ladbrokes family as he's murder imo (in my opinion)

I don't back anything else. The aussie stuff aye but again it's just a game with me and the bookies in seeing who's learnt more. I couldnt tell you about any other level of football as i try not to know. There's others that know more about these leagues than me on The Daily Punt and if theyre going with something that suits me then i'll take it

Re: Your favourite league for betting

SPL is pretty much my domain since I get to see all the games, hear all the team news etc etc on the tv and in the papers in the run up to the games. Have a flutter now and again on the Premiership for the same reason. Very rarely bet on things like the the Scots or English lower leagues or non-league simply because I don't know f*ck all about them, or at least not enough to bet on them. Always read the forums on here though to see if there are any value bets recommended by people that follow those leagues more closely than myself.

Pretty much the same deal in the foreign leagues, always nice to get the local knowledge from the lads on here that follow the leagues more closely and always satisying when something random like a Segunda B3, Swiss league, Bundesliga II etc result goes your way at good odds thanks to their info.

Personally, I like to dip into the Scandinavian leagues occassionally but no real reason behind it other than getting some news from my mates in Norway/Sweden when I fancy it. Might get involved in the MLS this season as well cos my mate in Chicago is really into it, so I may pump them for some local info too.

Unibond Prem.

Always seems to have three tiers of teams which many leagues this season (including the Conference) don't seem to have with everybody beating everybody. Bookies not that clued up and news flow from certain clubs is very good.

Re: Your favourite league for betting

My personal favourite is the EPL because of the mass of information and tv coverage of games. Means i can be lazy and not have to dig for info like the non league boys for example.

Scandanavian leagues are too unpredictable from my past experience.

I would recommend the MLS. Prices are many times way out fo what they should be. With it being American too you know what they are like with their stats and the MLS comes with an abundance of your most ridiculous stats you can imagine.

A far better standard than many give credit for also.

Re: Your favourite league for betting

Traditional wisdom suggests that AMP may have it right - the more obscure the better - cos one really can know more than the bookie - BUT, it strikes me that a level this low - individual weird performances can lead to more randomness.

Interested in some of the boys who do the Highland leagues... I wonder if the smaller the turn over on a league the less attention the bookies pay - or are they just cautious?

Thanks for replying all. I'll definately swot up on the MLS this year.

May have to get a few new accounts!
