Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

granted celtics form of late hasnt been that great but they are playing at home against a motherwell side that only have one threat in their team.scott mcdonald.unfortunately for motherwell mcdonald is moving to celtic in the summer and they WILL NOT play him on saturday due to the scrutiny he may come under.
celtic at home motherwell without mcdonald can only point to a home win.
shame about those odds though.ouch

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

What day is it today? Bloody hell it is football tomorrow. Sorry Hoss the SPL regulars must all be away celebrating some religious ceremony. I think they all must be Cafflicks

Im just up. On my first cig and coffee. I hate my sleep patterns at the mo but its the only way i can get work done. Anyhow let me have a look. I'm like one of them stand in teachers that turn up when the regular teachers are sick. I know nothing barr the basics but i might keep the 'classes' attention till someone proper comes along.

Aberdeen 4/6 in places. still too short for me in the new firm derby. Is it still called the new firm derby? thanks for the info on Scott Mcdonald hoss. I usually like Motherwell to cause an old firm upset. I was looking at the 11/1 on them at extrabet but maybe i wont bother. Actually ive a far better bet and one i think i'll take, motherwell to be leading at Half time - 12/1 with Betfred Celtic are prone to going 1 down or else leaving it late. surely there is value in that bet?

Hibs 11/10 anyone? How did they play at St Mirren? Hearts i always like v Kilmarnock. Killi's record at tynecastle must be abysmal of late. I think they won up there in the cup this season or last but in the league it's been a while. i cant get near that 4/5 price above in the high street so i'll leave it.

ICT v Falkirk i find hard to get enthused about.

Any SPL fellas in da house?

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

Umm err umm some quick thoughts...

Not too interested in the Aberdeen game...United have looked good recently and maybe 6.50 is a bit too big even with Aberdeen's strong home form, but I'll give it a miss.

Celtic price is probably fairly decent given that Motherwell miss McDonald but not for me as they stumble towards the title.

Hibs have a poor record at most grounds but not East End...Dunfermline are still hopeless no matter what mini revival they have - 2.25 looks a decent price here and I'll be on.

Hearts won v Hibs but still didn't look any great side...Killie are inconsistent but 5.00 is too big on them...looks worth a punt.

Falkirk have a good record in Inverness and have looked in good form of late...Latapy is back on form and now that Gow's goals have dried up others are beginning to contribute...3.60 again looks a big away price.

Rangers price maybe a touch big too...the draw with Inverness aside they have looked good under Smith and a late draw with Hibs aside St Mirren have been the worst side in the SPL over the last couple of months.

5 aways in Rangers, Falkirk, Dundee United, Hibs and Killie worth a little more attention later on I think.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

Another week, another SPL card to mull over.

Here goes;

Aberdeen v Dundee United

Last 8 games: Aber - 6-0-2 WLWWWLWW ::: DunU - 2-4-2 DWDLDWDL

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 3-1-1 (F 9, A 4) ::: 2-0-3 (F 5, A 7)

Last 6 h2h: D 3-1 A, A 3-1 D, D 1-1 A, A 2-0 D, D 1-1 A, D 1-2 A

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531255.stm

Aberdeen in superb form and back chasing the 2nd CL spot, only 5 pts behind Rangers. Hart, Foster and Touzani back will no doubt help out the defence that has helped them to a 2/1 for/ag goal average at Pittodrie and a 3-1-1 home record in the last 5. Robson out for United is a huge blow after his sending off against Celtic and the last 5 aways and last 2 h2hs at Pittodrie don't make good reading for them.

Betting wise, it does look likely for a HW @ 1.75, but I wouldn't be completely convinced as United have a good 1-1 against Celtic and 4-0 humping of Hearts behind them in the last couple of games, so confidence will be high for getting something from the game. Overs/Unders is 3/3 and of no interest, although the 3 Unders were close at 2-0, and 2 x 1-1, so its never far from the Overs line.

Predictions: Aberdeen to sneak it if pushed but United could get something
Bets: No bet for me on this one
Consider: Draw is tempting @ 3.9 on BF.

Celtic v Motherwell

Last 8 games: Cel - 5-1-2 DLLWWWWW ::: Moth - 3-2-3 LWLDLDWW

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 4-0-1 (F 10, A 3) ::: 2-2-1 (F 5, A 4)

Last 6 h2h: M 1-1 C, C 2-1 M, M 1-3 C, C 5-0 M, M 4-4 C, M 2-1 C

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531235.stm

Celtic suffering a little blip in form on their way to the title, but it shouldnt stop them eventually getting there. It has however put doubt into minds of people backing them after losses to Rangers and Falkirk and a late equaliser by D.Utd last time out. Team news seems ok, with plenty depth to cover injuries etc. and and still formidable home record. Motherwell have some first team players out including keeper Smith, left mid Paterson and Scott McDonald as mentioned before. Away form has been pretty decent from Well although I can't personally see them getting more than a point at most from this game.

Celtic should win this. They should, but looking at recent results you do have a doubt, but still, they should win this. Short odds though and I wouldn't back them. Draw @ 6.2 and Motherwell +1.5 @ 2.00 could be value bets if you see Celtic continuing to stutter to the title. Overs/Unders for this fixture is at 5/1 and it is tempting but I quite like the chances of this one going Under @ 2.3.

Prediction: Celtic win. Need to calm the nerves of recent weeks though.
Bets: None as yet
Consider: Like the look of Unders @ 2.3 (possible 2-0 Celtic @ 7.4) and Motherwell +1.5 @ 2.00 (going on the last 2 games).

Dunfermline v Hibs

Last 8 games: Dunf - 1-3-4 LWDLDLDL ::: Hibs - 2-2-4 DLWLDLWL

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 0-2-3 (F 1, A 5) ::: 1-2-2 (F 3, A 5)

Last 6 h2h: H 2-0 D, D 0-4 H, H 3-1 D, D 1-2 H, H 1-1 D, D 1-4 H

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531271.stm

Dunfermline finally getting a win against ICT, but at home they are still searching. Home scoring is a problem but they have been a lot tighter defending of late. The team news won't help them with some influential players in that lot. Hibs have hit an average patch of form after their CIS cup win, losing at home to rivals Hearts and allowing St Mirren to score a late equaliser in a sloppy game in Paisley midweek. Other than Killen (long-term injury) Hibs are pretty much near full strength. Form is with them with 5 wins in the last 6 games, but they will need to up their performances on the road to win, even against a poor Dunfermline team.

Hibs should take 3 points from this but it has the same feeling as the midweek game against St Mirren where they got a first goal away but couldnt go on to kill the game. Dunfermline have defended better recently and Hibs may have to try go on and be ruthless to get 3 points. Overs/Unders is 4/2 but holds no appeal.

Prediction: Hibs win @ 2.2, but if they go ahead will need to try kill the game unlike midweek.
Bets: Hibs @ 2.2
Consider: Rob Jones to score anytime as an outside bet.

Hearts v Kilmarnock

Last 8 games: Hea - 4-2-2 WLLWDWDW ::: Kil - 5-1-2 WLWWDLWW

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 2-1-2 (F 4, A 7) ::: 3-1-1 (F 6, A 3)

Last 6 h2h: K 0-0 H, H 0-2 K, H 2-0 K, K 1-0 H, H 1-0 K, K 2-4 H

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531279.stm

Hearts with no more than decent form overall, but conceding more than scoring at home, although 4 of those were in one game so a little misleading. Couple of good players back in Kingston and Tall, but as ever, team lines are crucial for Hearts games. Kilmarnock have been in good form over the same timescale, 5 wins in all last 8 games and 3-1-1 away, scoring a 2/1 for/ag. record. They also have the benefit of knowing that they have already won at Tynecastle this season too.

The value bet in this one definitely seems to lie with Kilmarnock AW @ 5.6. How likely it is is debatable, but they have already won there as mentioned before and probably shouldnt be as high as 5.6. Overs/Unders also looks inviting with a 1/5 record. Unders around 1.8 may be a decent chance.

Prediction: Could go all 3 ways
Bets: None as yet
Consider: Killie @ 5.6 is too high imo, considering they won there earlier in the season so possible small stake on that. Unders @ 1.8 seems likely going on recent games.

ICT V Falkirk

Last 8 games: ICT - 2-1-5 DLLWLLLW ::: Fal - 2-0-6 WWLLLLLL

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 3-0-2 (F 8, A 6) ::: 1-0-4 (F 6, A 7)

Last 6 h2h: F 3-1 I, I 3-2 F, I 2-0 F, F 1-4 I, I 0-3 F, F 0-2 I

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531301.stm

Darren Dods (c) misses this game after his red card at Ibrox last week and Black (M) serves his 2nd of a 3 game suspension too. Not great form overall for ICT but an ok record at home, scoring a few along the way. Falkirk with 2 good wins after a run of 6 or so defeats, but on the road they are pretty dire in recent games.

Don't really see where the winner could come from in this game tbh. ICT off the back of a good draw with 10 men at Ibrox and Falkirk with 2 wins in the last 2, but other than those stats, pretty difficult to pick between the 2. Overs/Unders holds no appeal for this game either as it is pretty tight in this fixture.

Predictions: Can't see a clear result
Bets: NO BET
Consider: --------------------

St Mirren v Rangers (Sunday 2pm)

Last 8 games: StM - 0-4-4 DLDLDDLL ::: Ran - 6-2-0 DWWWWWDW

Last 5 Homes/Aways: 0-2-3 (F 1, A 6) ::: 5-0-0 (F 8, A 1)

Last 6 h2h: R 1-1 S, S 2-3 R (due to recent StM promotion)

News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6531315.stm

St Mirren will be pleased to get a point at the death midweek against Hibs, but Rangers should be a tougher prospect. St Mirren, unlike Motherwell, will allow a Rangers bound Kirk Broadfoot to face his future employers on Sunday. The 2 forms couldn't be much different and St Mirren will need to dig deep to get something from this game. Rangers will be hurting from last weeks game against ICT, failing to put away 10 men at 1-0 up and 75 mins of the game to go. Smith will be going to Paisley with a full squad, other than a few long term missings. Form has been extremely good overall and away, so they really should win this game, but funnier things have happened in the SPL this season.

Betting wise, 1.6 might not be the worst price for a Rangers win, but a lazy performance last week at home casts doubt over that. Draw may be possible if they don't pick up the form again (available around 4.5), but they should be out to keep themselves in front in the race for the 2nd CL spot. Overs/Unders is a no bet for this game.

Prediction: Rangers win, only if they pick up the performance levels
Bets: NO BET
Consider: Charlie Adam anytime or 1st scorer. Playing well, scoring well and got 2 in the corresponding game earlier in the season. Boyd is usually good for 1st goal too.

GL this week.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

the value lies with falkirk. Their H2H record at ICT stands at 9 wins, 2 draws, 3 defeats. Their last two wins were at home to St Mirren and impressively against Celtic, while ICT's last home game ended in a 2-0 defat to Dunfermline.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

mmm bit late to go through the card!!!!

Aberdeen vs Dundee utd - mmm fancy the dons to win and 4/6 is decent for me especially them without Robson although aberdeen have 3 midfielders injuried.

Celtic vs Motherwell and i expect Celtic to win easy here

Dunfermline vs Hibs and i can't take hibs with there terrible away record atlhough they have a good record at the pars i think but i'm not that keen on it.

Hearts vs Killie and who the fuck priced this up to have Hearts under evens - they have been shite of late and i couldn't back them under evens.

Inverness vs Falkirk mmm good record Falkirk have but i did my money last time i think backing Falkirk but 5/2 is massive.

St Mirren vs Rangers and i fully expect Rangers to win very easily here.

Unbelievable game going on at Pittodrie. 3-2 United after only 20 mins.

Told you Overs was a good bet.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

I took a chunk of the even money on Rangers HT/FT today.
Also tempted by Boyd first goal but have rarely succeeded in these very open punts--- so Ill leave it----------- so he will probably get one in the first minute!

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

Van Basten,

1st and 2nd go into the CL (2nd in 2nd qualifying round and 1st into 3rd qualifying round, I believe is the set-up for next seasons CL). Think 3rd and 4th go into the various qualifying rounds of the Uefa cup.

For relegation, after Dunfermlines win against Hibs yesterday , means that they are 4 points behind St Mirren with the Saints playing their game in hand against Rangers today. Only 12th in the league go down, and there are no play-offs involving the 11th placed team.

Relegation is far from over now as the bottom 6 play 5 games against each other so St Mirren will need to play Dunfermline again and both will need to perform better in the other games available.

Hope that helps.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 7/8th April

Im not too sure about the cup winner VB. I think the winner gets a place in the Uefa qualifying rounds for this season (unless the winner has won the league, then the cup runner up gets it) but I think this may be getting changed after this season so that the Uefa place would go to the next place in the league (5th) but Im not entirely sure about that.

  • Was just thinking there, the best type of "fuck off " is the following; You`re playing astro, 5 a side, someone shouts "handball" and the "fuck off" response is fucking class.
