Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Theres a good weekend in the Ryman...

STAINES 2 bt Folkestone @ 6/5 (Skybet)

This is a bit of a 'statty' play this one but in all honesty I dont think you can go far wrong when taking Staines against odds away from home lately as they have a 6-4-0 away record. Theyre also on very good form winning 4 from 5 and fresh from mauling Heybridge 5-1.

Folkestones home record is average 3-2-3 but they have been on relatively poor form lately and lost 2-1 to fellow strugglers Hendon in their last home game.

Heres the 'statty' part. Looking at who Staines have beaten away from home lets look at the Ryman home record table...

14Chelmsford City93421412+213
15Slough Town114161617-113
16Folkestone Invicta8323109+111
17Hendon92431214-210
18Leyton9306151509
19Windsor & Eton823369-39

Staines have only not played Folkestone who ive highlighted there, theyve played all the others. The only one of which they havent beaten is Chelmsford who they drew 4-4 with. All other 4 have been dispatched and Staines leaving with all 3 points. I havent included the bottom 3 on the table there as they have really bad home records but Staines have played those 3 as well leaving with 2 wins and a draw.

Considering Staines have routinely beaten teams of similar quality to Folkestone I simply have to take them at against odds to do what theyve been doing already. StanJames go Evens and Bet365 10/11 which is more like it.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

WORTHING 2 bt Leyton @ 5/4 (Skybet)

Worthing have got a dcent away record 4-4-2 and come off the back of a very good midweek away win against Walton.

Leyton have got a 3-0-6 home record which is pretty rank and are pointless in their last 3 homes. Braintree, Staines and Fisher have left with max points and Worthing are up there with these teams. Poorer sides such as Weladstone and Harrow have also won at Leyton.

Its a bit of a no brainer for me and looks a very good bet. Both Bet365 and StanJames go evens which is more realistic. Skybet are being very generous this weekend.

Another one in im interested in is Braintree away to Walton @ 11/8. At a lesser price id leave it but considering Worthing above just went to Walton and won and Braintree always give you a run for your money, I might be on that one as well.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Aaaand finally onto the Southern Prem...

BEDFORD 2 bt Merthyr @ 6/4 (StanJames)

Suitably chunky price about Bedford here which im liking. A very good attacking outfit with Dillon and Howe upfront you always fancy them for a goal or 2. Theyve a 5-1-4 away record. Theyve won their last 2 aways including a very nice win at previously 100% home record Chippenham. They can be a bit erratic but they do like scoring.

Not sure whats going on with Merthyr really. A usually strong team but have been rank rotten lately. Look at these last 4 results...

Sat 26th NovARugby TownSouthern Premier(0)0-1(0)295
Sat 3rd DecHNorthwoodSouthern Premier(0)0-1(0)405
Sat 10th DecACirencester TownSouthern Premier(0)1-1(0)202
Tue 13th DecHSalisbury CitySouthern Premier(0)0-1(1)394

Make no mistake thats a real load of crap and only scoring 1 goal too. As previously mentioned Bedford are one of the highest scoring sides in the division. Losing at home to Northwood is an awful result and Rubgy and Cirencester are strugglers.

GLOUCESTER 2 bt Chesham @ 9/5 (StanJames)

Two poor sides generally but Chesham have been shocking lately. Lost 5 on the bounce conceding a massive 18 goals. Granted theyve played some very good sides but also included in that was a 2-0 home defeat to Evesham who are very poor too and in the relegation spots.

Now of course just because you have a team in bad form you have to have a team capable of beating them and who can take advantage. And thankfully Gloucester have actually been performing well lately winning 3 from their last 5 games. Crucially 2 of these wins were 1-0 away wins against Rugby and Cirencester, 2 of the struggling sides. This shows Gloucester are up for the fight and can bag the wins.

How they can be 9/5 is beyond me as theres no way Chesham are favourites in my book, id make Gloucester favourites and Bet365 go 11/8 which is more realistic.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Sorry Chova, don't think you will be able to. I normally use Tony Kempster and scan the results and sometimes go into the "archive" for last seasons ones. With all the personel movement in non league football it's not something I really pace to much faith in though.

I have a few well maintained club websites had this info.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Interesting. Bet 365 have cut that price on Leek to 7/4 whilst Stan James go 6/4.

I've a feeling Leek may get something out of this game as they've put in a few decent performances recently (Guisely, BPA away and Ilkeston in the cup). Whitby are in poor form at the mo and have got a number of injuries to contend with. They crashed out of the league cup at home to Goole, a struggling team from the league below. The game went to ET with many first team players.

I'd been on for 2/1+ but I'm gonna take a watching brief on this one. Just seems funny they cut it.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

I've taken Burscough and Staines - I left Braintree in the end Reasons in the thread already with a nice write up on Staines from MrM which pretty much matches my notes on reasons for taking them.

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Havant lost 2-1

Staines won 2-0

Worthing lost 1-0

Gloucester won 2-0

Bedford won 3-1

Well 3/5 will do and I hope some were on. I also took Nuneaton as some nice prices were being offered just before kick off on betfair so 4/6 for me

Re: Weekend Non League - 17th Dec

Disappointed after results from this afternoon. Nuneaton won, Marine drew and Hampton lost. Not a good day really...

Lead me towards midweek plz...
