Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

I like Swansea away to Doncaster and Barsnley too Komp but I can only get 6/4.

Fed up backing Forest but 11/8 might be enough to tempt me.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

7/4 Forest with betfred on their bonus coupons Kegman. 7/4 Barnsley too

from the bbc.........

Bournemouth v Gillingham
Bournemouth will be without Stephen Cooke (knee), while James Keene has returned to Portsmouth after the conclusion of his three-month loan.
Neil Young and James O'Connor are slight doubts, but boss Sean O'Driscoll hopes both will be fit to play.
Gillingham are without suspended duo Leon Johnson and Andrew Crofts.
Defender Chris Hope is out with a calf injury, while strikers Darren Byfield and Paul Shields and midfielder Alan Pouton are all doubtful.

Bradford v Rotherham
Bradford goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts serves the final instalment of his two-game at Valley Parade.
Lewis Emanuel may continue at centre-back, while Lee Crooks is pushing for a recall.
Managerless Rotherham will be without veteran defender Scott Minto, who is nursing a foot injury.
And Rotherham's on-loan midfielder Paul Evans has returned to Nottingham Forest after being told that he must undergo knee surgery.

Chesterfield v Oldham
Chesterfield could be without five first-team regulars as Mark Allott and Derek Niven join captain Shane Nicholson on the suspended list.
Alex Bailey (hamstring) also misses out, while fellow defender Gareth Davies is doubtful with a hip problem.
Oldham have both Gareth Owen and Guy Branston ruled out through suspension.
Midfielder Richard Butcher is also very doubtful after losing three teeth and suffering a broken nose in the FA Cup defeat at Brentford on Tuesday.

Colchester v MK Dons
Colchester manager Phil Parkinson has no new injury worries as his team looks to extend their 10-game unbeaten run.
Marino Keith and Stephen Hunt remain on the long-term injured list.
MK Dons striker Izale McLeod, who has been strongly linked with Wolves, faces a late fitness test after picking up a muscle strain in training.
McLeod's strike partner Clive Platt is also struggling with an ankle injury, but midfielder Wade Small has recovered from his ankle injury.

Doncaster v Swansea
Doncaster are without Phil McGuire, Tim Ryan, Andy Warrington, Jermaine McSporran and Barry Richardson.
Rovers could also be without New Zealand international David Mulligan again after he missed last week's 3-2 victory at MK Dons with a slight knock.
Swansea will be without striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, who has flown to Nigeria for his grandmother's funeral.
Kristian O'Leary is out with knee ligament damage, but defender Sam Ricketts should be available.

Huddersfield v Southend
David Mirfin and Chris Brandon are both expected to return for Huddersfield after being suspended at Bristol City.
Danny Adams has recovered from a dead leg but will miss the game through suspension and Adnan Ahmed could make his first start of the season.
Southend striker Shaun Goater is out for two weeks with a dislocated collarbone, while Kevin Maher and Bart Griemink are suspended.
Luke Guttridge has returned to fitness and could figure at some stage.

Port Vale v Bristol City
Port Vale may be without nine players with Tony Dinning banned, Clayton Fortune stopped from playing and Gary Mulligan and Mark Innes doubtful.
Robin Hulbert, Michael Walsh, Michael Cummins, Hector Sam and George Abbey are all sidelined through injury.
Bristol City striker Marcus Stewart is suspended for the trip to Vale Park, so on-loan Bas Savage could start.
Luke Wilkshire (hamstring) is fit again, but Dave Partridge's absence continues with a thigh problem.

Swindon v Blackpool
Charlie Comyn-Platt misses out with a thigh injury, while striker Tony Thorpe left the club earlier this week.
Andy Gurney remains a long-term absentee with an Achilles problem, while Christian Roberts (toe) is making progress but will not feature.
Blackpool will be without Ciaran Donnelly and Danny Coid for the trip.
Coid faces at least three months on the sidelines after breaking his ankle, but caretaker-boss Simon Grayson has no other injury concerns.

Tranmere v Brentford
Tranmere manager Brian Little is hoping defenders Ian Goodison (back and calf), Mike Jackson (calf) and Ian Sharps (knee) will be available.
Striker Chris Greenacre has a good chance of starting, but John Achterberg and Chris Dagnall are sidelined.
Brentford's Darren Pratley is ruled out while fellow midfielder Eddie Hutchinson is due a late fitness test.
Defender Andrew Frampton (knee) is still out while Ricky Newman plays his final game before suspension.

Walsall v Hartlepool
Walsall goalkeeper Andy Oakes is in contention after proving his fitness with a good showing in the reserves.
Midfielder Eric Skora, on loan from Preston, is a major doubt with a knee injury, while Darren Wrack is still out with a broken shin.
Hartlepool midfield duo Thomas Butler and Mark Tinkler after recovering from injuries but Michael Proctor is out.

I would be careful. At home Forest have a chance against anyone in their division but away they are simply woeful. I keep expecting them to turn it around on their travels but they just can't seem to find any form. I couldn't back them unless they were nearer to 2/1.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

Well I'm not going to make it to Bournemouth. The thought of getting up at around 7.30am tomorrow is too much for me. I'll settle for Lordwood v Greenwich in the Kent League instead.

Thehandicapman, think Bristol C are down to Priestfield on Boxing Day, aren't they?

With regard to Komp's team news from the BBC, think Pouton is more than doubtful (last week he was still down as being out for a couple of months, I think), but the rest seems accurate, as far as I know, although I've not checked the Gills sites today.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

Barnsley unbeaten in 13, and last two games 5-3 AET in cup and 5-2 win against scunthorpe. Yeovil managed to beat Rotherham last time out, but lost previous last 5 in league.

Over 2.5 goals and a barnsley win at 3.1 on Betfair looks decent.

I find it a little strange that cochester have drifted to 2.12 on Betfair. This was 1.75 yesterday on betfair, and the bookies price it up still around 8/11. Colchester have no injury/suspension worries and unbeaten in 8. Mk dons are playing better now than at the start of the season, but can't see why Colchester are odds against.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

Walsall v Hartlepool

soccernet preview:
Walsall boss Paul Merson may consider bringing goalkeeper Andy Oakes back into the squad to face Hartlepool on Saturday.

Oakes, who has not featured in the first team since undergoing an operation on his hand in September, completed 90 minutes of a reserve-team fixture against Sheffield Wednesday this week - pulling off some fine saves in the process.

On-loan Sunderland goaleeper Joe Murphy has done a solid job in place of Oakes, but Merson could opt for the more experienced player.

On-loan Preston midfielder Eric Skora is likely to miss out again with a knee injury, while Darren Wrack is still sidelined with a broken shin.

Hartlepool manager Martin Scott welcomes midfield duo Thomas Butler and Mark Tinkler back into contention for his side.

Both missed last week's home win over Bournemouth with respective groin and knee cartilage problems, but are available for selection.

Michael Proctor must serve a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards, while on-loan Ipswich striker Dean McDonald plays his final game for Pools before returning to Portman Road.

Meanwhile, Hugh Robertson made his first appearance of the season against the Cherries following his persistent thigh problems and should retain his place in the starting line-up.

The Bescot clash comes too soon for Matty Robson, despite the midfielder returning to full training after recovering from an ankle complaint.

Strike trio Joel Porter, Adam Boyd and James Brown (all knee) remain sidelined.

Skora will be a miss & I believe hes out until the end of his loan spell so may have played his last game anyway. He made a decent impression but its not as important as it was with Osbourne & Kinsella both fit again.
Walsall's home record 5-3-2-17-14 & the last 5 at home 3-2-0-7-2. Theyve won 6 of their last 10 in all competitions & had an encouraging away draw at Forest last week.
Hartlepool have a better away record than home 5-1-4-10-11 & their last 5 away is 3-0-2-4-4. They beat Bournemouth last time & their away victorys have been Bradford, Port Vale, Bristol City, Blackpool & Doncaster. Out of those Bradford are dodgy at home & are midway & donny had a rough start to the season when the game was played, & the others are in the bottom half.

Walsall at home to be too strong @ 11/10 Bet365

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

Colchester v MK Dons

Soccernet preview:
Colchester manager Phil Parkinson will pick from the same squad that drew at Swansea as his side entertain MK Dons.

Parkinson's men are unbeaten in 10 games and will be looking to extend their run as Danny Wilson brings his struggling side to Layer Road.

The only absentees for Colchester are long-term ankle injury victims Marino Keith and Stephen Hunt.

MK Dons striker Izale McLeod faces a late fitness test after picking up a muscle strain in training this week.

McLeod, who was the subject of a #1.3million bid from Wolves earlier this week, is rated doubtful for the Layer Road clash after damaging his hamstring.

Dons boss Danny Wilson also has doubts over McLeod's striker partner, Clive Platt, who is struggling with an ankle injury. He will also need a late fitness test.

Wilson received better news on midfielder Wade Small, who recovered from his ankle injury and is fit to play.

I must admit Tricky, I cant see why Colchester are lengthening . Their home record is 5-2-3-18-12 with their last 5 being 4-1-0-12-4, & theyre unbeaten in 7 in the league, including a creditable 1-1 draw at Swansea last week. Of the 9 wins, theyve won 8 by 1 goal

MK's away record is poor, 1-3-5-9-15 & their last 5 away 1-1-3-6-9.

Looks good to me

Re: Coca Cola League 1 16th & 17th Dec

Tranmere v Brentford

Soccernet preview:
Tranmere manager Brian Little is hoping for good news on the injury front ahead of the game against Brentford.

Little is optimistic defenders Ian Goodison (back and calf), Mike Jackson (calf) and Ian Sharps (knee) will be available, while striker Chris Greenacre (knee) also has a good chance of featuring against Martin Allen's men.

Goalkeeper John Achterberg (stomach operation) and striker Chris Dagnall (leg) are sidelined, but defender Paul Linwood (knee) and skipper Jason McAteer (knee) are back in training.

Little said: ``We've played really well and the draws that we've had, we've been closer to winning than losing. It's a tough game for us, but despite our position, I'm sure Brentford won't think it's easy either.

``Even if we play badly, we just need a win and if we can put a couple together I'm sure we can have more of an impact in the second half of the season.''

Midfielder Darren Pratley has been ruled out of the clash.

The on-loan Fulham star took a heavy knock during the 1-0 FA Cup win over Oldham in midweek and has returned to his parent club to have the damage assessed.

Fellow midfielder Eddie Hutchinson is due for a late fitness test after missing the Oldham match with a virus, but defender Andrew Frampton (knee) is still out.

Skipper Ricky Newman plays his final game before serving a one-match ban after collecting his fifth booking of the campaign against the Latics

Tranmere at home 2-5-2-14-12 & the last 5 at home is 0-3-2-5-8. They drew away at Blackpool last game out.
Brentford away 5-3-2-14-9 & their last 5 away is 3-2-0-6-2 & they are unbeaten in 5 matches.

Brentford 8/5 Sporting Odds
