Not the biggest coupon but an interesting one me thinks.

First glance these 2 look nice...

Billericay v Braintree @ 6/5

Brook House v Wisbech @ 5/4

Yeah Muze, I'm gonna have 3 points on Brook House. First game was a 4-4 draw with Wisbech scoring equalisers in normal and extra-time injury time. A bit long but well worth a read.

AMP

Here's the match report: (From Brook's site)

Saturday 10th December 2005 – FA Vase 3rd Round
Wisbech Town 4 – 4 Brook House (After extra time)
Nimmo 6, 91 Papali 44, 74, 99
Cubberley 90 Jones 112
Dunn 119
Attendance 371

There’s no doubt that this FA Vase 3rd round game will be the topic of conversation by both Wisbech and Brook fans alike for some years to come. It was probably one ofthe most exciting matches seen for some time. There were stages in the game when both teams looked as though they were beaten and there was no way back, but the twenty two players on the park had other ideas about that.

The opening goal went in favour of Wisbech when Liam Nimmo was left unmarked about 22 yards out from Brook’s goal. His powerfully struck shot went through the outstretched hands of keeper James Harry who could only stand with his hands on hips in disappointment after the ball found its way into the back of the net just under the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Brook believed they had scored the equaliser from a Danny Rouco shot into an open goal that was chased down by Wisbech’s Mark Jimson. He hooked the ball out of the goal after it had crossed the goal line. Unfortunately, the assistant referee was some 20 - 22 yards away from play and was in no position to make a decision and thus no goal was awarded. Would we have taken that under these circumstances? Of course we would have and so we just had to get on with it.
Two minutes later saw a shot from Dean Papali go just wide of the left upright and later, a header from Brook’s unmarked Lee O’Leary was put straight into the arms of Wisbech’s keeper, Nick Conroy, from 8 yards out.

The game was nearing the end of the first half when Dean Papali made a goal out of nothing. He was at the left corner of the edge of Wisbech’s 18 yard area when Dean received the ball with his back to goal. Dean’s uncanny awareness of where he is in relation to the goal seemed to kick in. He turned, and without a seconds hesitation lobbed the ball with his left foot over the mêlée’ of players inside the penalty area and into the top right hand corner of the goal.

The second half saw Brook fired up and ready to take the game to Wisbech, not an easy task in a stadium that had a lot of vocal support for the home team. The first minute of this second half saw a chance fall to Chris Fermie from a Chris Owens free kick that was saved by the keeper. Brook continued to press and they were finally rewarded after some great work by Ryan Kirkland down the left touchline. Ryan put a ball along the ground into the box where Dean Papali was waiting. Dean kept his head and had a simple tap in to give Brook the lead.

The game entered stoppage time and just when you thought it was all over,
controversy was to strike again which was to lead to extra time. Wisbech’s Robbie Harris gave chase to a ball down Brook’s left touchline. The ball was to go over the
goal line near the corner flag before Harris crossed the ball into Brook’s penalty area. Everyone saw what happened except for the man who counts. Once again, the assistant referee was not up with play. Every single Brook player in the penalty area just stopped and did nothing to clear the ball. They had all seen what had happened,
but that is no excuse. How many times have you heard the phrase, ‘carry on playing until you hear the ref’s whistle’? We didn’t and Scott Cubberley had a simple header at the far post from 2 yards out to send the game into extra time.

This late equaliser had a profound effect on the Brook team which led to Leon
Nimmo putting Wisbech ahead two minutes into extra time. For the next ten minutes or so, Brook were struggling to come to terms with what had happened and the early extra time goal appeared to be the killer punch. The player’s body language during those ten minutes suggested the game was lost; indeed Wisbech had some very good
chances to go further ahead but failed to take advantage of what appeared to be a demoralised team.

But then something happened. It was as though someone had flicked a switch and the whole of the Brook team believed that it was a game they could win. The turnaround was so sudden and unexpected that not only were Brook to find the equaliser through Dean Papali, but were to go ahead through substitute Ian Jones who had come on for the injured Dean Papali just after he scored his third.

Brook were now cruising to a win but a fateful error between Chris Owens and keeper James Harry was to give yet another late equaliser in stoppage time to the home side.

A ball was put into the box which should have easily been dealt with by either James Harry or Chris Owens. However, there was no call and both players went to deal with the ball. The resulting collision between Chris and James saw the ball tumble to their right and to the feet of Ian Dunn who poked the ball into the back of the net for the equaliser. If the ball had tumbled the other way, it would have been safe as there were no players to the left of them, but that is football and all adds to the excitement of the
game. The game ended shortly after.

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

Thinking about backing Bedford for the trip to Chesham (11/10 Stan James) and Sailsbury for their trip to Merthyr.

Here's a good link to Cheshams latest 6-0 defeat and Sailisbury (i do like linked bets like these I must admit)

http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/wil...ALL_NEWS3.html

And some good backround on Chesham here:

http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/wil...ALL_NEWS4.html

And as for Merthyr i mentioned on the weekend thread that I was sceptical of their recent form and they proved me correct by only getting a draw at woefull Cirencester. Here's some stuff from their forum:

http://themartyrs.m6.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1093

"Poor Game..poor crowd...two poor teams...They again as did Northwood looked more like they wanted it!"

"Another damp squib as far as iam concerned, happy that we stopped the losing rot but it really was flat."

Off to bed now so I'll consider them. 8/5 on Burton at Stan James seems a bit llarge aswell as FGR are awful of late and burton picking up.

Any thoughts?

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

I'm going for a narrow Workington victory at Droylsden tomorrow night. I just feel that the visitors may have enough to come past a solid Droylsden side. An excellent victory at Kettering last weekend, will give Workington a confidence boost ahead of this tough clash. Droylsden aren't in the greatest form as of late, drawing their last two and both sides have a pretty decent home and away record respectively.

A very tight affair. Only a small amount on this one...

Will analyse Tuesday and Wednesday's fixtures tomorrow afternoon and get back to you all...

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

Bedford - I think Bedford flatter to deceive a bit personally, a bit inconsistent for my liking (see last few results, draw at the weekend home to poor Cheshunt, before this a great away win at Chippenham but a 5-2 kicking at Rugby before this). That is a shocking defeat for Chesham granted but Id like to see a chunkier price to be backing Bedford on the road than 11/10 as they do seem to mix up the wins, draws and defeats. Still on their day they could cuff Chesham as they have a great striker but to back at 11/10 Id have to think they were an odds on chance and I dont.

Salisbury - This is a tough one as it could be a good shout but ill be swerving it as again Salisbury are just not great on the road 3-2-3, and theyve lost their last 3 aways. Having said this Merthyr last 3 results have been utter utter cra, reeeeally bad. But they are traditionally strong at home and I can see it being tight on their boggy welsh pitch! 5/4 aint a bad price though but I dont think therell be much in it. I wouldnt put anyone of this one though as Salisbury are top and Merthyr struggling.

Id rather be on Braintree at 5/4 than either of these though which I might well be. Billericay fresh off a 3-1 home defeat to stuttering East Thurrock is good. Braintree lets not forget that before their 1-0 defeat at Harrow, the strong Braintree were 8 cracking wins on the bounce. They got back to winning ways 3-0 at the weekend though admittedly against a shockingly crap team. Still 9 wins from 10 is not to be sniffed at at 5/4 against a side with a 4-2-4 home record looks pretty good to me. Braintree away record is 4-0-3.

Good luck on Workington SuperAngel, I agree 10/3 is a sporting punt for sure as it could be a reasonably even game. Droylsden are a tough team though for sure espesh at home but there could be a bit of value in it.

4pts Brook House / 4pts Braintree for me

This win isnt as good as you might think. Kettering had their keeper sent off after 13min and didnt have one on the bench so had an outfield player in goal the whole game. Considering Workington only won 3-2 I wouldnt draw anything into this performance unfortunately.

You`re electric, AMP-just had to say it! Buxton looked a good thing in the Vase on Saturday(postponed). Can they be relied upon tonight or is a longish journey in midweek a negative factor?

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

Cheers Lumberjack (I think ) and Buxton look a good shout.

They two teams both play in the same league and Buxton are top (11/2/1) and smashing them in - 38 goals in 14 games. Selby are 11th, 6/3/5. The teams met in the same fixture at the start of the season and Buxton won 3-0.

Apparently there's been some controversy with the called of game at the weekend. selby called it off but apparently it hadn't rained for a few days. Calling the game off has actually played into Buxton's hands as top scorer (13 goals) Copnell is now no longer suspended for this game and apparently a few injuries will clear up as well.

Mid-week cup replays are always a cause for concern and this is Buxton's biggest journey in the league. However, apparently most of their players are Sheffield based and 45 miles away from Selby. They come off the back of a decent 4-2 home win last time in the league and rested most of the team for the Derbyshire cup game with Step 4 Belper (which they lost 3-1 at home).

It seems that the FA vase and the league are their main priorities.

i think I'll join you with a small double on Didcot as well.

Best of luck and welcome to the TDP.

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

Actually, scrap that bet on Didcot:

"Didcot manager Stuart Peace was giving nothing away after the first tie on Saturday but he intimated that squad rotation may influence the decision on his starting XI.

Irrespective of the line-up Didcot will have to assert some dominance in midfield if we are to come away from Suffolk with a positive result. Despite creating some decent chances Didcot failed to control the game for long spells, unusual for us in matches at the Loop this season. But it will be interesting to see how Mildenhall's game plan may change with home advantage.

There were no new injury concerns on Saturday so we should have a full squad to choose from except for Ward and Hannigan.

Didcot somehow managed to stay in the FA Vase yesterday with a terrific late-comeback both in normal time and extra-time to force a replay at Mildenhall on Tuesday.
"

Middenhall are 4.33 at home and missed two open goals at 3-2 up?

I'll have a point on that then, thanks very much.

And there I was drawn to Didcot because of their rep. Research is vital!

Re: Non League Midweek / FA Vase Replays 12/13th

Didcot drew an early fa cup tie this season at home to herne bay and smashed them 6-2 in the replay, i agree 10-3 is a value bet but i fancy didcot and maidstone in a double tonight.A decent forum on isthmian league 2, brookhouses league can be found on fans focus on sport, an article on dorking and brookhouse survive has some posts from brook players who seem pretty confident about tonights game.good luck all!
