Cwmbran Town - Traeth?

Apparently their manager's just left and several players are expected to due to him being pissed off with knowing all of their twelve fans...

There's a player's meeting on Tuesday. Their opposition Cearsws on Saturday look just as pants but seem to do o.k away. i've just taken the 3.0 for a couple of cheeky points on Bet 365.

Would love to here from the Welsh guys.

from Nonleaguedaily.com

Brian Coyne has quit as manager of cash-strapped Vauxhall Masterfit Retailers Welsh Premier club Cwmbran Town.

He announced his decision after his side's 3-0 reverse at Bangor City and the Crows could now face losing several more players.

Coyne (pictured), who left Newtown after a decade in charge to succeed the late Tony Wilcox in the summer of 2003, issued a parting shot at the people of Cwmbran.

"The apathy of the people in the community towards the club is frightening," he said.

"I have contacted at least 100 businesses myself during the summer - with absolutely no response."

Following the departure of chairman and chief benefactor John Colley in the close season, Cwmbran have been forced to make major cuts in the playing budget.

But Coyne paid tribute to new chairman Mike Lewis and his committee: "They have been fantastic over the last two and a half years," added Coyne, "but no-one is interested in backing the club and standards have dropped."

Despite an approach from Llanelli, midfielder Kris Thomas played at Farrar Road, but several other players are said to be interested in joining other Welsh Premier clubs, with Andy Mainwaring and Paul Bonar already having departed in recent weeks.

And their offical site:

Cwmbran will be holding a meeting with our playing staff this Tuesday to discuss the future and their commitment to the club. We will then hold a supporters meeting at a later date to inform everyone on how the club will be taken forward.

In the interim Sean Wharton will take take the roll as caretaker Manager for our next game agianst Caersws.

Re: Cwmbran Town - Traeth?

Cwmbran v Caersws 2.10 3.20 3.00

I was fancying Caersws before this announcement

Last 4 matches for Cwmbran were:
Bangor City - Cwmbran 3-0
Cwmbran - Port Talbot 2-5
TNS - Cwmbran 1-0
Cwmbran - Welshpool 1-2

While Caersws last 4 were
Caersws - Connahs Quay 1-0
Carmarthen - Caersws 1-3
Porthmadog - Caersws 3-3
Caersws - Bangor City 0-6

Both teams on the same number of points

this report from the official Welsh Premier League site here

which is similar to the one you highlighted komp

Will go searching for more news but the financial problems were highlighted 4 weeks ago with the players having to take reduced wages and again about Oct 9th , when they held TNS to just a 0-1 defeat

CROWS WILL COME OUT FIGHTING

CARETAKER manager Sean Wharton has affirmed his commitment to Cwmbran Town after the resignation of Brian Coyne on Saturday.
Wharton - who was Coyne's number two throughout his time with the Crows - is not prepared to commit to the job permanently, but isn't ruling it out.
With more players seemingly set to leave, he is under no illusions about the size of the job, but believes the club will come out fighting.
"For now I am looking at the next couple of games and short-term solutions to our current on-field problems," Wharton told the South Wales Argus.
"I am not really sure if I am in the running or not to be the manager on a long-term basis, I will need to discuss things with my family and do what is best for me and for the club.
"Make no mistake about it, everyone here, from me to the players, is absolutely gutted that Coyney has left and he will be missed massively.
"I will meet the players tonight and base some of my decisions on what they say - football at this level isn't a hobby any more, players are more reliant on money and some of them will have to do a bit of soul-searching and decide whether or not they are up for the challenge here," he added.

Re: Cwmbran Town - Traeth?

New manager syndrome put me off betting against Cwmbran.

This from League of Wales website

Quote:
WHARTON NAMED AS CROWS' BOSS

SEAN Wharton is the new manager of Cwmbran Town in succession to Brian Coyne.
The former Crows' midfielder-defender was appointed interim caretaker manager following Coyne's resignation after last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Bangor City.
However, following a meeting with interim chairman Mike Lewis and the playing staff at Tuesday's training session, Wharton was subsequently named as only Cwmbran's third manager since the start of the Welsh Premier League in 1992-93.
Co-incidentally, Wharton the player had a pivotal role in helping the Crows become the inaugural champions in that season before he went onto play for Inter CableTel in the Welsh Premier and Weston-super-Mare in the Southern League.
He returned to Cwmbran as a player in the 2001-02 season before being named coach when Coyne took over from the late Tony Willcox in July 2003.
In total, 34-year-old Wharton scored 28 goals in 132 full and 28 substitute appearances for the Crows in two separate spells and 20 goals in 70+2 for Inter CableTel.
Wharton's first game in charge will be Saturday's home game against Caersws who are managed by Mickey Evans, the only man still in charge of the same club from that 1992-93 season.

26 October 2005
but it must be noted that there stories of players departing

TWO former Llanelli players are in line for a return to Stebonheath Park.
Kris Thomas has already returned to the Reds' ranks ahead of their TV date with Rhyl at Belle Vue on Saturday.
And first-team coach Peter Nicholas is also bidding to snatch former Llanelli frontman Kaid Mohamed from the financially-stricken Cwmbran, who have also lost a disillusioned Kristian James to Port Talbot Town this week, following the departure of manager Brian Coyne.

Cwmbran is far away from my location up here in North Wales and the only rumours circulating is that the players have not been paid for 4 weeks and were promised last week. This did not materialise and the manager left.
