Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Well here's a quick view from sw6 re fulham-liverpool this saturday.
FULHAM-5/2- LIVERPOOL-11/10-BET 365
wELL WE HAVE TO BE PLEASED WITH A POINT against a good charlton side, can we now take 3 points from rafa's boys.I think that chris coleman is now starting to be a bit more defence-minded for the next few weeks or so because we do have 6 or 7 games coming up where we should be looking to put some points on the board.I THINK THAT COLEMAN WILL start with one up front, collins john who really does have great promise, coleman has made a big mistake in not playing him in front of radzsinski in our earlier fixtures.
I thought that we looked a bit more solid defensively especially with christanval sitting in front of the defence. But we do need to be on our toes against liverpool, and keep our concentration-levels up.The game last year was a cracker,a defensive pool 2-nil down at the break ,only to score 4 goals in the second half.
Liverpool will come into this one with their confidence on a high, after the win in brussels, which was needed after the performance against blackburn, although they did get the right result.I SUPPOSE THE POOL will be keen to get a run going themselves,as thier premiership season always seems a bit stop-start.But away from home it would seem that rafa is out of the more conservative mould, and is always trying to keep it tight and pinch one on the break.
It will be a very highly-charged atmosphere at the cottage due to the passing of our all-time greatest player, johnny haynes. So although i never back on my team i hope that we can take something from this game,i dont see any reason why we cannot get something if we play to our best.good luck one and all

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
I agree thats not bad odds on Wigan, & take this with a pinch of salt as I'm Villa through & through, but I cannot see Villa losing on saturday tbh. Wigan have had a great run & are outperforming everybodies expectations but I think theyre still thin & I think somebody will get hold of them @ some point, & I really see Villa being that team.
Now I'm not really looking @ team news till tomorrow but I wouldnt disagree with people saying Villa have been unimpressive this season, but after the last week Villa will come in with a lot of confidence which has the chance of levelling the previous form off.
Its impossible for anyone to guage outside of the midlands how much the Birmingham win, particularly @ St.Andrews, meant to Villa.....impossible. Yes theres similar derbies of course, & Blues/Villa will never really be compared to games like Man U/C, Liverpool/Everton & Arsenal/Spurs, basically because those clubs are more fashionable & also the midlands is looked down upon in football terms by other areas (AFU ) also the fact that Blues/Villa are generally dreadful games doesnt help but Blues had the hoodoo over us for 3 years & 6 games but suddenly they were the side that didnt look up for the fight...this means a massive amount I assure you, & were actually in the strange position of not trying to rub it in too much in the pompous idea of not sinking to Blues's level....which is absolute horseshit obviously
Couple the derby result with the fact that last friday was the agm at which I'm ashamed to say that Ellis was given a particularly rough ride after just returning from heart surgery when hes been advised to give it up, & I am no Ellis lover I assure you......prominent people walked out of the AGM in protest at the boards running of the club, but what came out of it was that theres more than one party interested in taking over Villa.
For the first time since the mid-80's Ellis has virtually confirmed that he is prepared to sell up, & has said that concrete news will be known within a month...& this will improve the atmosphere immeasurably in Villa Park.
This has actually gone as far as calls on the message boards to lay off Ellis & let him go in peace I had to read it twice !!
O'Learys reaction after the game on sunday, to Ellis (& they dont really get on !!) says it all IMO & this is as good a feel good factor felt around the place in years....probably since the real mistrust started when Gregory was sacked.
If Bakke plays again its a bonus as will be the return if it happens of Baros. Angel hasnt scored yet but he was that jet lagged he actually fell asleep on the bench @ Blues....Fact !!
I've waffled a bit here but I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, Villa may not be the greatest this season, & may yet end up in trouble, but I dont feel this is the week to go against them...& I feel the evens on offer is decent tbh, & I can actually see Vila winning this a lot more easily than people expect

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Yeah Ive looked into the game a bit more now and I wouldnt put anyone off Wigan but its not one forme this weekend. I can just so see it being a draw and I cant back Wigan with any confidence cos of that.
Im think im going to be taking CHARLTON on the level ball handicap at 1.98
Pompey have only won once this season (no guesses who against ) and although theyre not that bad it has to be said theyre struggling going forward notching once or drawing a blank. At home theyve drawn with Birmingham, Newcastle and Villa and lost to Spurs.
Charlton we all know about so far and im absolutely sure their away record flatters them being 100% and all. The fact still remains that theyre playing pretty well with Bent and Murphy on good form and scoring 9 on their travels whilst conceding 2 is fine stats. Theyve only failed to score once this season and that was against Chelsea.
I dont see Pompey causing Charlton much trouble and I can see Charlton getting a few chances. Id expect a 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 type scoreline. I certainly dont see what justifies Pompey being judged as very slight favourites for this encounter on bet365s handicap.
So all in all I feel that Charlton deserve to be favourites for this in terms of the win. I could definitely see it being a draw but at nigh on evens for what is essentially a draw no bet I think its a good wager.

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Thanks for the help, guys! But basically you confirmed my estimation that those odds are value so I'll take them:
Wigan(+0.5) @1.95(StanJames) for 4/10
Wigan @4.25(Expekt) for 3/10
:drums and some more and then :

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Have to agree with Swoops on Villa v Wigan, great odds though they are on Wigan i have a feeling Villa will at least grab a point.
Wigan have had a cracking start to the season and if they were @ home i would fancy them but Villa need to improve and improve fast, Oleary will be looking to build on sundays win and i think he will.
After watching the las two Wigan games even though they won they didnt win comfortably and against Newcastle were hanging on for grim death @ the end.
Whether its a ploy by Jewell to sit back and defend after getting in front , i dont know but its a dangerous game to play unless you have players in the class that chelsea have and can play that way.
Wigan are good when they do attack and very swift on the breakaway but thy are starting to look a bit jaded towards the end of games so maybe the Premiership adrenlin is beginning to wear a bit thin.
Good price never the less if you go off current form but Villa know they need something from this match and will be in deep trouble if they dont.

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Agreed with you Mrmuzeman, having watched how wasteful Boro were against Pompey, i really dont think Curbishley will let Pompey into the game like they let Fulham, the other nite. Though ive had a feeling that a team like Fulhams, with Johns, Marlbranque, Diop and Boa Morte in the side, their sure to improve upon the results thus far.
Maybe it was still the after affects of internationals mixed with the fact it was a derby with Fulham, but i sure dont think Charlton will let pompey into the game so easily, and they will regain their place back up into the top 3.

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Charlton on the level ball @ nearly evens does look tempting MrM & Wuntun, Their game against Fulham was a nigly match and nothing much could be taken from it.
Should imagine it'll be a simiilar state of affairs with Pompey looking to give nothing away and a draw a big possibility @ least as i cannot see Portsmouth winning.

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Yeah a draw is a definite possibility Slick but if there is a winner taking the 3 points from the game I think its much more likely to be Charlton, in my mind there is no doubt about that.
Youd expect the evens odds to be in a game where the two teams had an equal chance of winning the game. The value is clear to me when looking at the odds on the 'draw no bet' market. Charlton are 4/5 across the board with a 1.75 and a 5/6 thrown in.
As the level ball is actually the same thing with a different name it is obvious value to me

Talking to the Villa fans at work this morning and they are all quietly confident of a win, which is unusual for them as they are normally pessimistic sods. I'm going to have a small punt on the Villa.

I was quietly confident of us beating Wigan at ours as well Kop
IMO theres no value on the Villa at all at the Evens present, doesnt mean they wont win but against a team unbeaten in 6 (only beaten by Chelsea in the 94th minute and Charlton this season) I dont see them as any better than a 6/4 type shot.
Get on the Chelsea correct scores at 11/10! I dont know why nobodies commented on that, its a great bet.

Bet365 have swapped the odds around on this now to make Charlton the favourites. A market move however slight on a prem game, I like it

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Man Utd v Spurs
I guess being a Spurs supporter, i cant stop thinking about the Man U match...
especially after watching how shite Man Utd played against Lille.
All season long, ive never liked Man U's defence, even though they managed several clean sheets, and hearing people saying how tight they are, which sounds obvious they havent been watching many Live Man U matches...
Im not sure how Ronaldo will play after his Rape allegations, but the dribbles that Park Ji Sung did when he came on as usual are so direct and penetrating, and he dribbles so fucking fast...
He will definitely cause Spurs problems down our right, cos im not all sure about Stalteri you know...but i'll let others judge him, but what i know is down the same flank, Aaron Lennon will tear O'Shea's ass to shreds, and if i have to choose, i think i'd take Stalteri over O'Shea at this given moment. Lennon isnt the best of crossers, but he will ghost past players, and get crosses in from the byline.
On the other hand, in Midfield, Jenas, Carrick and Davids, i think will most definitely give Scholes and Smith or Fletcher a run for their money, however much Fergie is grooming Smith to replace Keane, i really can't see how he will...His and Scholes' challenges are often reckless, as are sometimes Davids'.
Both keepers i rate within the leagues top 3 along with Cech, its a shame Man U didnt grab v.der Saar earlier.
As far as frontlines are concerned....who wouldnt want Rooney in their team, him and v.Nistelrooy are a pairing above any in this league imo, although Ruud doesnt grab as many headlines for Man U as he use to since Rooney's joined.
But i have this inkling feeling that Rio and Silvestre wont be able to contain Mido and Defoe affectively for a good part of the match, cos for the money they cost in comparison to performances, they are one whole bag o'shite at the moment.
I can see headlines in my head for a Spurs win, saying "the Avengers", but also cant bare to imagine what the extra rest in midweek will have done for Rooney.
What do you guys think...but the AH on Spurs as are the Away odds are just so tempting!
Spurs AH +0.5 @ 2.23
Spurs AH +1 @ 1.75
Spurs win @ 6.00
Over 2.5 @1.95 (probable bet)
Am i being biased being a Spurs fan, probably... i'll sleep on it and make a decision in the morning.

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Being biased is great.. it will be a fantastic match but one ill stay away from although I can certainly see where people are coming from when they say how Spurs are value. Nice write ups in here lads
Fulham vs Liverpool
Toscani I fancy Fulham myself at odds of 3/1 at home to an over rated Liverpool side in the premiership. It reminds me of the Porto vs Inter match midweek.. it will be a closely contested game that could swing either way and so 3/1 for Fulham is value. I just wish they would sort there defence out although I hear your waiting for Christianval to be fit.
Fulham vs Liverpool 1pt@3/1
Call me crazy and this is another bet that doesnt really make much sense but Birmingham at 3/1 is attractive to me. This is a game they really need to win and know they can win, they have been playing well from what ive seen and I will chance them against Blackburn.
Blackburn vs Birmingham 1pt@3/1

I'll give Villa a miss now Mrm' You're right Evs is not real value.
When there is a few shouting the one team and a few shouting the other on here they normally always end in draws anyway

Re: English Premiership 22-23 October
Sat Games
Man Utd v Tottenham 2 @ 6's Bet365
Well looking at Saturdays games the only match i like the look of is Spurs @ Man U.
With so many Key Man utd players out and Ronaldo under a bit of pressure after this weeks events they do look a bit stretched.
Up front with Rooney back they look strong again but i think Spurs can more than do a Blackburn on them coming here with a bit of form And they do have some good players too who on their day should easily match Utd.
Utd look to be a bit thin in the middle of the park @ the mo and it looks like Spurs could dominate it with the midfield they have now King is back too.
They looked tired against Lille and they werent too inspiring against Sunderland or Fulham though winning both.
I really fancy spurs to take this and @ 6's i think its a great price with the players Utd have missing.
