Aye Southend are looking tempting, The goat will always score in this standard of football but to have a selection problem up front with him in ure team @ this level must be a dream come true.

Southend now levelling off @ around 2.85s betfair.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 - 1st Oct

....& finally on to the beloved Walsall

BBC:
Port Vale will be without midfielder Tony Dinning as he serves a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards.
Chris Cornes is set to replace him after scoring twice during Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Oldham but Nathan Lowndes (knee) looks set to miss out.

Walsall manager Paul Merson is likely to be out of action until Christmas with a groin injury.

Andy Oakes has his hand in plaster after suffering ligament damage so John Ruddy will continue in goal.

....Walsall by all accounts came off the worse in the draw midweek with Brentford, the visitors having most of the game. Merson is a big blow to be out until xmas....there had been a lot of criticism of his fitness but he can still produce a telling pass @ this level. Reading the boards I think Pead is suspended @ right back here after 5 bookings, & Wright will deputise...this is a big blow IMO.
The Fryatt/Husbands pairing seems to be ok but Husbands hasnt been given a full game yet but the 2 of them look sharp & capable of goals.
Port Vales home record is decent, 3-1-1-5-1, Walsalls away record is 2-2-1-7-5.

I'm tempted by this but I think the safer bet might be over 2.5 goals here, although I do fancy a Walsall win

Have to agree that it's not looking good for the Gills today. A message on the Gills Rivals messageboard says that Byfield is due to be on Soccer AM this morning (can anyone confirm?), and if that's true then he's obviously not going to be playing today. Will leave us with two from Neil Harris, Hislop (still not fully match fit) and Jarvis up front, and to be honest I can't see that front line outscoring Southend's with the form they're in, especially up against our makeshift defence (although that same defence did keep a clean sheet in the week v Chesterfield).

Mind you, the Gills do seem to have a tendency to do well when the odds seem stacked against them. Still, I'm already on Southend at 17/10, and I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone who's thinking of doing the same .

Cheers RC. I've just taken 2.9 for two points on Betfair.

Best of luck,

RC - After backing my team Bristol City to loose over the last few weeks I know how you feel! Still, it's a good feeling to finally back them again. Bet they'll draw today though having said that!

Yeah Slick - being a stato I can see you loving Southend's performances and that 2.7 / 2.9 seems bang out of line!

Re: Coca Cola League 1 - 1st Oct

Back to Port Vale/Walsall for a sec....the over 2.5 is 2.05 @ Bet365. Port Vales home record is 3-2-1-7-3, but tuesdays game v Oldham was 2-2 to boost that as it was decent before. As above the Vale look a little threadbare with injuries to me & I rate Walsall as a better attacking unit than Oldham with Fryatt & the 'wee & nippy' Husbands. They'll miss Mersons ability to split the defence but Simon Osbourne is a more important player I think & he is playing.

Re: Coca Cola League 1 - 1st Oct

Gills lineup announced, Byfield not in it, if anyone's still not made up their mind here. Like the look of Southend to win either half, 5/6 with Bet365 (and possibly even both halves @ 9/1).

The first one (to win either half) came in, not the other one. 0-0 half-time, 2-1 full-time. Only had 0.5pts on the win both halves bet, and was also on the outright win in any case.

Injury crisis got worse for Gills today, Brent Sancho (standing in at central defence for the injured Hope and Cox) got injured, Jason Brown the keeper also took a knock but had to play on as we'd used all 3 subs. Luckily we've got 2 weeks off now due to internationals, time for some of the injured players to hopefully recover.

Bradford are 5 games unbeaten but Doncaster have won 3 on the bounce but do 3 swallows make a summer?

Id expect there bubble to be burst here as having see them play they havnt got much to offer where as Bradford have always impressed me. This will be a close game and 11/5 is shades of value for me.

Doncaster vs Bradford 1pt@11/5
The Muppetts threw away a 2 goal lead
