WATFORD v LEEDS
....now first up I looked at this & decided I fancied Leeds & started looking through for some decent reasoning, but I found it difficult tbh. This from the
bbc
Watford will be without Clarke Carlisle under the terms of his summer move from Elland Road but fellow Leeds old boy Matthew Spring is allowed to play.
Malky Mackay should return in central defence after his ban and Gavin Mahon, a substitute in the last two matches, could return in central midfield.
Leeds striker Richard Cresswell is expected to be fit despite coming off with a thigh injury against Derby.
David Healy will be available after completing a three-match suspension.
....now just looking @ Watford for a moment: they were in decent form coming into the last 3 games, & a few around here were on them......then they played Sheff Utd.
Watford scorched into a 2 goal lead, but in a mad 10 minute spell they conceded 2 & Malky Mackay was needlessly sent off for kicking out, & they went on to lose the game 3-2. Mackay was suspended for 3 games, in which Watford drew away with bottom placed Crewe 0-0 & lost at Coventry 3-1, where in the first half they were attrocious & were 3-0 @ HT. In the 2nd half they improved greatly & scored, but against that who is to say Coventry didnt relax. The other game was a League Cup win v Wolves.
Obviously Mackay is a big player for them, & their record with him playing this season is: played 6, won 4, drawn 1 (Reading @ H 0-0) lost 1 (Sheff Utd)
record without: played 5, won 1, drawn 2, lost 2.
Watford have not lost with Mackay on the pitch this season, although there is nothing to say that Sheff Utd wouldnt have gone on to win @ 2-2 without his sending off.
Clarke Carlisle is an ever present this season & will be missed against Leeds & this is the only reason why I'm wondering about backing Watford here. Gavin Mahon started the season & they were unbeaten in the 3 games he played before his return in the last 2 as sub.
Leeds won this fixture 2-1 last season & Watford havent beaten Leeds since 1992/3.
Watfords last 6 @ home. won 4, drawn 1, lost 1
Leeds last 6 away. won 3, drawn 1, lost 2
I'm still umming & ahhing on this but I'm tempted with Watford here @ 6/5, but the draw may sway me in the end, as I might come round to this being the wrong opposition to get back on Watford with
