Re: UK Friendlies - Now till Sunday

Finally can get to place a bet on a Bristol city Friendly :drums

I wanted to bety on the recent 1-0 win over the arch rivals Rovers but no-one has priced this up.

So tonight it's Cheltenham town away and 11/10. Yummy!

Bristol City's pre-season has been very good up to this point. Games which featured the majority of the first team were Hereford Away (4-0), Bath Away (5-0), Tamworth (1-1 - penalty saved, own goal, trialist goalkeepers and wholesale changes at half time - extenuating circumstances - maybe!) and the Gas 1-0. A largely reserve / academy team beat Mamgotsfirld 5-0.

I've checked the squad for tonight and it's basically all first-teamers / substitutes. Up top will be Bridges and Stewart. Bridges will be looking to impress as he's on a year deal and trying to get a starting position for a week Saturday (Brooker is out injured).

Marcus Stewart hasn't scored for us yet (has serval assits) but he's already said he'd dying too. He was instrumental in bringing Bridges to the club so he'll be trying to make him look good I should imagine aswell.

On the bench is ex-Liverpool reserve Stephen Gillespe. Notched in pre-season already, chomping at the bit to get in the first team. Enjoyed a sucxcesful goal-scoring loan at Cheltenham with ex-City boss John Ward trying to sign him. I'm glad he didn't as he's young and has bags of potential.

11/10 at Bet365 and Skybet. 2 points.

Re: UK Friendlies - Now till Sunday

uh-huh. Looks like it's me on my own in here :booty . Nobody likes me, nobody likes me, 'cause I'm Steve Claridge heh heh heh.

Right, back to business. Just had another perusal at the City squad: :drums

City: Steve Phillips, Sam Pearce; Jamie Smith, Louis Carey, Richard Keogh, Matt Heywood, Clayton Fortune, Scott Golbourne, Craig Woodman; Scott Murray, Dave Cotterill, Alex Russell, Bradley Orr, Scott Brown, Luke Wilkshire, Ryan Harley, Grant Smith; Michael Bridges, Steven Gillespie, Marcus Stewart.

Although it probably won't mean much to most (I'm hoping the other Cider Reds make it in from over the road... ) it's strong . There are a few things that stop me wading in big.
1. It's a friendly
2. Possible Triallist keeper in goal
3. John Ward - ex-city Boss and managed his counterpart Tinnion.

Still, this should be mitigated by the new signings on display and the difference in class, I notice from the Cheltenham website that they're concerned whether Damien Spencer is fit. Personally I hope he is as the ex-City youth graduate couldn't cut the mustard when I saw him at Div 2 level .

Another point into the pile for me .

Sadly this wasn't to be the case A.M.P.

Unlucky mate - thats why friendlies are very dangerous. Could easily have rested their side in the second half and thats you in the shit.

Thank god the season is almost underway

Cheers Kiko.

I can't wait for the season to start either.

It really wouldn't have mattered if they rested the side becaue the squad we took should've battered fcuk outta them...

Still, 3-0 after 16 mins for 11/10 I'd taken that beforehand.
