Monday 25th July- Friendly

3 good reasons to back Leicester v Inter Milan

a). most of the stars have stayed at home. Half the squad are youth team players and many others are fringe players

b) the Italian season doesn't start until the end of August and they are likely to be some way behind Leicester with their level of fitness.

c). 4.33 for the home side with Bet365.

Re: Monday 25th July- Friendly

thanks WAS, I've taken Leicester!

From BBC:

Leicester ready for Inter test

>
Leicester boss Craig Levein is looking forward to an exacting challenge against Inter Milan on Monday night as the Foxes build up to the new season.
"It will be a different type of game and I'm looking for an improvement in the level of fitness," Levein said.

"I would expect Inter Milan to play a continental style, keep possession of the ball and make us work quite hard.

"So from that point of view, with a regard to fitness, I am sure it will help us."

The match is the first outing in a four-match tour for the Serie A outfit, with games at Crystal Palace, Norwich and Portsmouth to follow.

Inter had cancelled the tour because of safety fears in the wake of the London bombings before deciding to travel after all having cleared up the "misunderstanding".

"There was some confusion, they wanted to make sure the conditions on both sides were correct. They wanted to check the feasibility," explained Signor Giancarlo Aragona, the Italian ambassador in London.

Roberto Mancini's Nerazzurri squad includes regular starters Obafemi Martins, Marco Materazzi, Sinisa Mihajlovic and Dejan Stankovic.

Almost half the 22-man squad consists of players from Inter's developmental squad, although Brazil forward Adriano and Inter captain Javier Zanetti may join the tour later.

Re: Monday 25th July- Friendly

...in all seriousness I wondered about this friendly earlier and after some consideration and just reading a mirror of WAS's info on the Palace website I've decided to chance a fiver as once again the Milan price is based on reputation and 4.33 for Leicester is madness.

p.s not that I doubt your info WAS. But once the seed's planted...

Re: Monday 25th July- Friendly

I would be very wary of backing Leicester, even at that price.

Inter could put out the following side

Goalie (none of the recognised 1st teamers)

RB Ze Maria, Brazilian from Perugia couple of seasons ago
CB Materazzi - Italian Internationalist
CB Mihaljovic - old but still good enough at this level
LB Favalli - Italian internationalist

RM Karagounis - Greek internationalist, Euro 2004 winner
CM Stankovic - Serb, Inter's best midfield player last season
CM Pizarro - just signed from Udinese, Chilean, good attacking midfielder
LM Solari - just signed from Real, good winger

CF Martins - Nigerian internationalist, kept Vieri out of side at times last season
CF Choutous - Greek internationalist, Euro 2004 winner

At least 9 outfield internationalists, any of which would walk into Leicester team.

Leicester will have fitness and yes there will be subs by Inter but as with many friendlies I wouldn't touch due to doubts over who will play, who won't and when.

Re: Monday 25th July- Friendly

Crowie,

I take your concerns on board but wonder what an "internationalist" is...

I'm wary of backing friendly / mickey mouse cup games so I have kept my stake small. As WAS previously pointed out, the CC is about 3 weeks away from starting. No doubt Leicester will be playing a strong side as they'll have plenty of support tonight. Also, Inter have something like 4 friendlies in a week or so...

If this game kicked off at 2.8 or so for LC I probably wouldn't touch it, but it's been out as far as 4.6 on the exchanges so for me win or loose it's a good bet...
