Odds on aberdeen are now too short to back but on Laddies coupon are still 8/11

Small dabble i think

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

You've no idea mate...6 minutes of injury time went up, and my heart sank - we were sitting so deep, midfield right on top of the defence, inviting them onto us. Dundee United were winning, so one goal for Dundee and we were down, and then McManus I think hit the post : Thats how close we came :yikes

But alls well that ends well...great atmosphere from both sets of fans(a bit of fighting outside) and a great game.

Don't really care about the bets, but calling it 3pts level stakes its 9pts in and 16.50pts back, which is always good, and maybe even a little unfortunate losing the other to a late penalty.

Gonna go and have a look at tomorrows(when I should really be doing revision) :pat

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

Just one for me today, taking a couple of points from yesterday and sticking them on Aberdeen -1.5 @ 2.80 at BlueSquare.

Bit of a unique situation with this bet, in that you know that the Dons will be pushing to beat the handicap as well, rather than just being satisfied with the win.

If we assume Rangers are'nt going to really cuff Hibs, then a 1 goal win isn't enough for the Dons, and so if they take the lead they'll continue a very attacking style, meaning another goal either way is the most likely. For that reason, I don't think the short odds on the home win merit the risk, when they will push for more.

Hearts injury problems/Edinburgh rivalry/Lee Miller situation all points to note as well.

GL whatever you back

good on you yesterday Beanie and unlucky. You'll be grinning like a big cat after yesterday.

Interesting bet as you say on aberdeeen but theres too much on the h2h's for me to bother on this one. Might have a wee look into some bets for the telly games. They showing both on same channel and just flicking between them?

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

Certainly am Komp...great day

Not sure how the telly coverage will be done today.

Im thinking some sort of bookings bet on Rangers Hibs might be an idea.

Rangers will be ready to have a real go today and get the first goal(ie before Celtic) to put pressure on the Hoops. Hibs will just be looking to keep it tight for aslong as possible, and in players like Scott Brown they have plenty youngsters to be fired up and stuck in(most probably a few Celtic fans in the Hibs team too).

Both teams are quite high up the SPL bookings table, and ref is kenny Clark, who is top of the ref's bookings league by quite a distance, and a fairly crap ref to boot. Could get carried away in the atmosphere.

Odds not too tempting though...Over 46 points @ 2.10 at Stan James might be worthwhile though, not sure yet tho.

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

Wow...what a finish!!!

-1.5 on Aberdeen came in, as did crowie's Under 2.5 , as did the bookings bet in the Hibs game(didn't bother with it tho) but two late late goals from Scott McDonald hand Rangers the title...great end to a great season, betting wise and football wise.

Roll on August

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

Well Celtic's poor performance today (and other weekends) has left the SPL as my worst-performing league of the season. What happened at the end, did Celtic think they had it in the bag and relax or did nerves get the better of them?

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

It must be awful to be a Celtic fan tonight and be the most awesome feeling to be a Rangers supporter. That's football and why it's so great and breaks your heart.

I've had two nights like the Celtic fans are feeling. When Italy lost the European Championship to France in the last minute and then lost on the golden goal and when England lost to France 2-1 in the last European Championships.

Yeah I feel bad for Celtic fans tonight. It hurts like hell.

Congrats to Alex and the Rangers boys though.

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

It hurts like hell gettin - almost a sense that this hasnt happened and will be fine next time i check the score. Cant believe it - especially under the circumstances. If we had taking our chances we wouldve ran out with a cricket score. But 2 goals in last 2 mins - "unbelievable"

Re: Scottish Premier League 21st / 22nd May

I am the same as you Kiko, totally gutted (I'm a Tim too). Its almost an unreal feeling, and like you say I expect to turn over to BBC to see the sports headlines saying "Celtic clinch title" :frown2:

Listened to the game today and we should have had Well dead and buried by HT. Even up until about 70 minutes it was mostly Celtic, bar one Well chance off the bar at the start of the second half. Final 20 minutes of commentary told its own story though, all Well and Celts trying to hit them on the break with Bellamy and Beattie. Sutton was playing holding role in midfield for last 10 mins or so.

And its been proved that if you try and defend like that you will eventually give chances to the other side. Celtic tried to do it at Hearts last weekend and were caught out, thankfully had enough time to pull a 2nd goal out of the hat. Today the Well equaliser came to late to allow any response.

And in the end we can only blame ourselves. If the current Celtic side can't beat a journeyman and makeshift Motherwell side when its needed to then we don't deserve the league. The writings been there most of the season IMO, home defeats by Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs show we are no longer the dominant and feared force we were. The team, much like the Rangers side going for 10 in a row has gone on 1 year too long and have lost their "fear factor".

The most disappointing thing IMO though is I think its a poor Rangers side who are champions. Its certainly not the side inspired by Ferguson, De Boer, Arteta, Moore and Klos of a couple of seasons ago that won the league on GD. However if I think they are a poor side what does that make Celtic?

Rangers are the champions due to getting the most points, the table doesn't lie. Celtic couldn't come in with the result when they needed to and don't deserve the title based on that fact.

Aye, its a shitty feeling but it will pass. It reminds me of 1986 when we pipped Hearts for the title on GD. I was at Love Street that day and the feeling was incredible, winning when it was least expected. That will be the Rangers fans tonight.
