Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 18th /19th May

A tricky confrontation between Ipswich and West Ham.. Of course it's a play-off 2nd leg and therefore many statistics you can normally rely on go out of the window.. However a few stats still catch the eye and surely will be influential in this match.. Ipswich are obviously in the advantage and only require a low scoring draw to progress..

However the following facts need to be considered.. Ipswich are a devastating team at home are the number one home team performer in the Championship..(ie they can score goals)..Ipswich are the best form home team (over 5 games) (ie they can score home goals)..West Ham are the second best form away team (ie they can score away goals). West Ham need to score goals to get through (ie they need to score away goals)..Ipswich can't afford to sit back and just soak up the Hammers attack as this would leave them open to the sucker punch...Ipswich have a pretty poor record when it comes to Play-offs (ie they can concede goals) and the 3rd place team has the worst record in the play-offs (ie they can concede goals)..

In other words theres surely going to be goals in this match..

I'm off to Sunny Menorca for 2 weeks on Thursday and I hope my good run will continue so that I have a few more Euros spendos..

I therefore go for...

Ipswich/West Ham - over 2.5 goals @ 21/20 (Bet365) 10pt stake

Ipswich Vs West Ham

I wouldn't back on this game if my life depended on it. There are simply too many outcomes here to be considered. I think you summed it all up perfectly TrickRick. It's too close to call and none of the odds represent value in my opinion.

Rick,

Not true I am afraid, away goals do not count in the play offs in normal time or extra time. 0-0 at 90 mins tonight sends it to extra time, a goal each then sends it to penalties. The only advantage Ipswich have is they are at home but the tie itself is still all to play for.

I did favour Ipswich to win tonight due to home record but I can't get away from the fact that West Ham have already won at Ipswich this season as well as Sunderland and Wigan. Ipswich won this game in the play offs 1-0 last season and may do so again tonight but at the moment I am leaving the game as a no bet.

I still favour Ipswich at home in this one.they showed true character coming from 2 behind at Upton park , psycholigically they have the upper hand.this game will be played as much in the mind as on the pitch. West Ham go one up , they will know Ipswich can come back. the hammers have 2 very young centre halfs and no sherringham, key factors for me.

Ipswich 2.00 (6/10)

Crowie - you are correct regarding away goals which I didnt realise..However I don't think that means that the opportunity for goals is less likely. All to play for, and both teams need to go for it...All 'goalscoring extravaganza' is predicted!!! (And hoped for.. )

Yep, would agree with that Rick. It was the only game of the first legs to go over and Ipswich do rattle in a fair few at Portman Road.

GL, as I said, I think I will be leaving it alone.

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 18th /19th May

West Ham are a funny team. I fancy Ipswich to go on and win the play-offs, but that said during the season West Ham won away from home against Sunderland, Wigan and Ipswich. This while slipping up against a lot of the lower teams (drew at home to Crewe late on in the season for example).

You never know which West Ham will turn up, but for me, odds of 11/10 on Ipswich winning the game are not enough to bet on. A draw and extra time is more than possible. No bets for me on this

Re: Coca-Cola League Championship 18th /19th May

West Ham do it again. Didn't watch it as I was watching Sporting v CSKA but Ipswich keep up the trend of teams with the worst 6 match form not going up to EPL. Thats 11 seasons in a row now that team with worst form has lost out in promotion. And thankfully landed my lay of Ipswich to be promoted at the start of the play offs

Typical West Ham. I've seen any tipsters taking Ipswich to win tonight, but I've followed West Ham closely this season (I had them to beat Reading and a couple of others in a season bet), and they always seem to fail to win when you think they'll win easily, and then win against the top teams away from home :think
