Prem Top Scorers

I've had a look at bet365 and their odds for the Premiership top scorers.
I see a lot of value in the following 3 for each way bets:

Forssell @ 33/1 : he hit 16 for the Blues back in 2003-4, and with a decent run at this season I thnk he can best that. Considering that 15+ will get you evry close to a place these days, it seems like a good e/w

Yakubu @ 33/1 : again he regularly bangs them in , 16 for Portsmouth in 2003-4, then 13 in 2004-5. With his move to the Boro there will be far more opportnity for him , now that he will get a better support/service.
As much as I don't like Boro ( JFH!!..aarrrggghhhhh!!!) they do have a system that's set up for a player like Yakubu. Assists from defenders and midfield , right up to the moaning c**t himself ,JFH, this is surely a great bet /ew.

Phillips @ 66/1 : I really like this bet. The odds are excellent for the e/w steal.
Playing for a sorry Saints side last season, he still scored 10 .
He played a total of 2092 mins from a maximum 3420 + played in 30 games, giving him an average return of 1 goal every 3 games. That's a decent return when you look at some of the money that's been spent on other strikers.
If he maintains that rate , then in 38 matches he'll score 12.66..call it 13.
Villa will, like Forssell, provide a better opportunity for him to play as he is capable. His pace is still very destructive to defences, his strength on the ball is excellent, plus he has a high workrate, uinlike he ex-partner Beattie!

Looking at the way the number of goals has been more evenly distributed over the last few seasons, I think that the glory days of 25-30 in a season are coming to an end.
Henry can't have another 90% injury free season, can he? He's started to feel the aches and strains , missing 6 of the last 9 matches...and I think he is a player whose odds are not truly reflecting the way the league is changing, or his certainty of his fitness .

Johnson was second last season , thanks is part to 11 PENALTIES!!..and only missing out on 93 mins of football....37 games from 38..3327 mins from 3420.
Another feat not to be repeated.

RVN would need to have a complete turnaround to suddenly be the goalscoring machine he was in the past. Manyoo are a side I will staeer clear off for at least 2 to 3 months...I'll be happy to 'lay' them , if I bet at all.

Just my initial thoughts...any other suggestions?

Re: Prem Top Scorers

I really like the Yakubu bet there for each way. Completely agree with your points about him getting better service, being a better team etc.

Unsure about Forsell - if he can manage an injury free season he should go pretty well. But thats a big If for me at the minute.

One i liked was Morientes at 16/1. He did ok last season without making a big impression. It doesn't disguise the fact that he has been an excellent goalscorer at all his previous sides. He should be settled in now there and with Liverpool securing the services of Gerrard and Carragher, and looking to improve the side i can see Liverpool being a bit of a force next season with Morientes leading the line. He has started well in pre season friendlies also scoring twice in his last match for them.

Cisse is another from Liverpool and i will use all the same reasons as for Morientes. Its really about which attacking forward line up Benetiz prefers as all the Liverpool forwards are at decents prices.

If your looking for a long shot then Lampard seems to be outstanding each way value at 100/1 for me. He is one player you know will start each game week in week out without the worry of them being rested. Unsure how many he got last season but he chipped in with a good amount. He takes their penalties, free kicks and loves to get forward. Got to be worth a little nibble.

Gopod point about Lampard...I saw his price , but thought it might not be aseasy for him this season as Jose looked to be happy with Gudjohnsen in behind the attack, meaning Lampard may not have as much play in going forward.

Morientes looks a little out of place in the Liverpool side. He has that extra bit of creativity about him, always one move ahead of the rest, resulting in a lot of missed opps.
Great player, total class, and with a good run thisd season he is a bet , but the 16's are too short for me

Re: Prem Top Scorers

Little unsure about Gudjohnson - i dont think he will be a regular first team player like he has been last season. It seems Chelsea/Mourinho/Abramavich are all determined to get some sort of big name striker in. Wright Philips is also being heavily linked and with him, duff, robben, lampard - you have to wonder where Gudjohnson will fit in.

Even if Gudjohnson does play in the role mentioned its still not going to stop Lampard from bombing forward. He has Makele to clean up after him in the spaces missing. The attacking talents of Chelsea aswell are always going to create opportunities in the means of free kicks, penalties as they are tough to get the ball off and defenders are resorted to late challenges.

Be interesting to see if any of the new promoted sides strikers can have an impact similar to what Andy Johnson did. Nathan Ellington would probably be the best bet for that.

Re: Prem Top Scorers

Having read your points about Gudjohnsen I've changed my mind and agree with you...never really thought about it like that.
He is a solid , reliable player , but I suppose it all depends where he plays, really..true enough Kiko.

I'd like to find a market for 'match betting on goalscorers...Henry vs RVN for example...do you know of anyone that does this?

Yep Yakubu is a good each way bet especially since he has joined Boro.

Only Henry has scored more premiership goals in the last two seasons thatn Yakubu! And this while he is at little ol' Portsmouth!

No idea Eddy on that kind of market. There's bound to be one somewhere though.

About Gudjohnson - i really hope he doesn't become a bit part player. I really like him and his intelligence on the pitch is as good as anyone around. Lets just hope he doesn't rot on the bench, im sure there would be lots of top clubs snooping around for him!
