Re: English Premiership 20-21st Jan

Aston Villa and Portsmouth looks ok but I think odds are short against struggling sides which are desperately in need of a win. Reading will miss top scorer and there is not big difference with Sheffield United so I may go for an away win. I expect two boring draws from top two games and I'm thinking to add Boro-Bolton to this combo.

Eesh 4/6 for a Villa side that hasnt won in 11 games look ok? No thanks I dont care if they are playing Watford, a draw wouldnt suprise me in the slightest.

Man Utd at 6/4 , repeat Man Utd at 6/4!

That's all I need to say , Chelsea at 6/4 is good enough but United will put the gunners to the sword without a shadow of doubt. They have better players , better tactics , better goalscoring options oh the list goes on.

I'm also looking at Newcastle 8/11 against a truely awful West Ham , Reading at 4/5 should see off the Blades too

Keem, Chelsea didin't impress me at all, odds on MU are fantastic, but this is one of the top plays this weekend, and Arsenal is unbeaten in last 11 home games.
I know, West Ham are awful, but they have to win sometimes, but they didn't.
Reading is on my shortlist too.

I completely disagree with Keem and think he is way off the mark, Arsenal now seem to raise there game against the bigger oppenents, winning away at Old Traffrod, I dont remember United putting Arsenal to the sword then? In fact United were also on top form then but still the gunners outclassed them.

I think Arsenal actually have the more talented players, Henry over Rooney any day of the week, Van Persie of Saha, Ronlado obviously over anyone though, Fabregas over Scholes and Gilberto (know he's not playing) over Carrick.

It'll be a great game and I fancy the gunners, and if i did fancy United id be bitterly disappointed at 6/4 that this muppet Keemanan was raving about!

So would I. That's why I'd be taking almost 2/1 after commission at betfair.

No no no no and no. Time will tell chris , Utd are playing much better than they were going into the first match. I'd deffo take Larrson over Henry in the big games , Rooney over Van Persie most days of the week , Scholes over anyone in England

Re: English Premiership 20-21st Jan

some early thoughts on all the fixtures:

Liverpool v Chelsea: Cech might be back, and if he is it will make me think a bit longer about this one. Looks like value on the home side - Carvalho and Essien in the air against Crouch and even Kuyt looks a mis-match. Pool are pretty good at home. they are also shit against the top sides.

Aston Villa v Watford: Urr.. those odds for a side without a win in 11? Wasn't expecting that at all. But, I guess Watford are just that poor at the minute. If Sionko is back, I might look at the unders here.

Fulham v Spurs: Spurs give the illusion of value quite often. This is one I'd need to think about before forming any impression of the game - I can see just about any scoreline, but a bit more team news might define things a bit better. Both sides have been involved in some big scorelines lately, thoygh.

Boro - Bolton: Think Boro were without Boateng mid-week, can't remember if it was injury or suspension - but if he is out, I'll be on Bolton. Alternatively, I could see this ending 1-1. Might take a small position on the draw.

Newcastle - West Ham: looks like goals here. West Ham have been more attacking since Curbs came in - Quashie, Boa Morte, Benayoun, Zamora, possibly Tevez.. Odds on the visitors look big here.

Pompey - Charlton: Don't like the odds, but I can't make an argument against the home side.

Reading - SHeffield United: Don't think it will be easy for Reading. Either avoid this or look at a one goal reading win at anything above 3.5.

City - Blackburn: Blackburn look quite good going forward - Pedersen's form has picked up. City keep pulling out clean sheets. Tough game to read - first instinct is to look at the unders.

Wigan - Everton: Cahill - Arteta in the same side for the first time in a long time for Everton. If De Zeuuw and Camara are out, I'll be on the visitors. If not, think long and hard.

Arsenal - United: I'll be looking at the overs. There are a few logical reasons I can think of not to, but the home side have to go for it, the visitors are top class going forward - I'd be surprised if this doesn't produce goals.

Newcastle v West Ham

Newcastle have been doing great in recents weeks picking up points where they have been expected to be rolled over. Looking a bit further into it though and you will see that Newcastles overall performances have been pretty poor.

Against Spurs they were run ragged an had it not been for Given they wouldve been onto a big hammering.

Birmingham game losing 5-1 is a result that has been coming for them imo. At the back they are extrmeely poor at the minute due the injuries which have savaged the team.

Midfield is suffering badly with the loss of both Emre and Parker and both are doubtful for the gameon Saturday. If they both dont make it then its a huge blow to them.

Sibierski also went off which leaves him questionable also.

Another problem for Newcastle just now is if it isn't working for them they dont have a plan B. Then their bench is so weak just now they dont have players capable of coming on and changing the game.

West Ham themselves havent been great either it has to be said but Curbishley is bringing in players with a bit of fight and bite for the club.

I think they will start picking up results and believethey will start at St James Park.

Definately some value in laying the home side.

Lay Newcastle @ 1.96 Betfair (5/10)

Re: English Premiership 20-21st Jan

Ooh Everton are on tele again this Sunday Give us 2/1+ betfair or mansion so I can back us Id need 2/1 mind as I think Wigans awful stats of late are hard on them. Theyve lost 6 league games in a row sure, but 2 were against Chelsea, and others against Man Utd and Arsenal so no defeats you wouldnt expect to be perfectly honest. Still the home defeats to Blackburn and Sheff Utd in the other 2 games from those 6 give me hope here.

As Sports-Investor mentions though, gota wait for that team news. I want Arteta and Cahill both in the team then a 2/1 odds.

Anyone backing Pompey at 4/7? That Charlton 0-1-10 away record doesnt make good reading. 7 for, 27 against, yuck id hate to be a travelling Charlton fan. I certainly wouldnt put anyone off of it (Pompey home record 7-3-1 for reference).

Good viewing on with Liverpool v Chelsea and Arsenal v Man utd :drums

Re: English Premiership 20-21st Jan

The Portsmouth game looks the most clear cut of the lot to me, they have not looked 100% of late late but they keep grinding out results and should have to much for a woeful Charlton side that even a new manager can do nothing about and even looking to offload the clubs best assets in anticipation of life in the CC next yr.

I also have a sneaky feeling Liverpool will get a result against Chelsea as i still don't think they are firing on all cylinders and the 4-0 drubbing they gave a poor Wigan hasen't changed my mind.
Liverpool still have plenty of faults but they'll be the best side Chelsea have played in a while and i don't think they will be looking forward to it.

Arenal V Man U has the makings of a cracking match but its much to close to call for me and one i'd rather sit back and watch, a couple of weeks ago you'd have had to fancy the Reds but since the return of Henry Arsenal look a completely different side.
United probably have the advantage up front with the number of class strikers they now possess but when pushed at the back they do tend to stutter and playing away at the Emirates they'll come under more than enough pressure.
Bollox to it i'll sit on the fence and go for the draw as the plus's and minus's for both sides seem to cancel each other out.

Re: English Premiership 20-21st Jan

I disagree Slick. I think the Boro Bolton game is the most clear cut as I think one of the teams have some players missing, although I couldn't be bothered to check. I'll be going for either a draw or one of the teams to win, depending on who the final line ups are and which side of the bed I get out of on Saturday morning.

It's nailed on.
