Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

Thanks for that komp here are my initial thoughts

Friday evening matches

Aberystwyth [10th] v Newtown [14th]
Port Talbot [6th] v Haverfordwest [9th]
Connah's Quay [4th]v Cefn [12th]

I do not like gambling on the Friday evening games in this league.
Too many unpredictable results for these part-timers after a working day.
They all look like home wins to me.
Port Talbot is worth considering lets hope the other bookies give us similar odds . They had a great win in the rearranged cup match Monday evening.

Saturday afternoon matches

Caersws [15th] v T N S [2nd]
One of the worse teams in the league against the best.
TNS had last week match postponed due to the weather .
They are on form now and i can see them scoring 4 or 5 in this match

Carmarthen [7th] v Airbus [16th]

This should be another home win for Carmarthen as Airbus are the worse away team in this league.
Airbus did beat Bangor 4-1 last week though.

Cwmbran [13th] v Caernarfon [17th]

Caernarfon are still struggling and need the points against a side that moved from the bottom with wins before christmas.
This is a bottom of the table clash , it looks like a battle between Caernarfon and Airbus to avoid relegation.
Caernarfon will see Cwmbran as a team where points are up for grabs.

Porthmadog [11th] v Rhyl [1st]
This will be a difficult match for my team against the table toppers.
We beat Rhyl at home last season when the league position were similar .
If we play at our best and Rhyl has a poor day we can get a win , but I will settle for a draw.
Perhaps some blustery conditions at our ground could give us some hope.
I would not hold it against you if you back Rhyl but 1.35 for an away side does not tempt me.

Welshpool [3rd] v Bangor [8th]
Welshpool are playing well , had a great win at Llanelli last Saturday.
Whilst Bangor lost 4-1 at the awful Airbus.
Bangor are a poor away side this season .
It is rumoured that Bangor recently appointed manager Bleasdale has been looking for another club ,Southport was mentioned but Peter Davenport has resigned from Colwyn Bay to take up the manager's job at Conference outfit Southport. So Colwyn Bay is being suggested now but Bleasdale is denying the stories.
This could be an unsettling factor at the club.

So Welshpool @1.85 looks very good to me .I will do a more detailed analysis later

The league table
1. Rhyl FC 19 13 3 3 45 26 42
2. The New Saints 16 13 1 2 45 11 40
3. Welshpool Town 19 12 3 4 41 26 39
4. Connah's Quay Nomads 18 10 5 3 34 26 35
5. Llanelli AFC 17 9 5 3 38 18 32
6. Port Talbot Town 18 9 3 6 26 22 30
7. Carmarthen Town 17 8 4 5 37 27 28
8. Bangor City 19 7 4 8 35 31 25
9. Haverfordwest County 20 6 6 8 34 32 24
10. Aberystwyth Town 17 6 5 6 28 24 23
11. Porthmadog FC 18 4 7 7 23 29 19
12. NEWI Cefn Druids 18 5 4 9 25 40 19
13. Cwmbran Town 19 4 6 9 26 38 18
14. Newtown AFC 18 5 2 11 19 31 17
15. Caersws FC 19 3 7 9 22 39 16
16. Airbus UK 19 2 5 12 23 50 11
17. Caernarfon Town 17 1 4 12 18 49 7

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

I like the way Betway seem to get their prices up early Traeth and their odds are easy for me to copy and paste so that makes them a good bookmaker in my books

You know i only flirted with Welsh football at the start of the season before last Traeth but ive always had a wee soft spot it since. Have Llanelli lost their Darling Buds Of May Foreign Legion? Welshpool are going well i see. I was gonna say its good to see Rhyl (my adopted welsh team ) pegging back TNS but then i note TNSs games in hand. Im still amazed at the ease that they changed their name from Total Network Solutions to The New Saints for this season. I wonder how hard to think that was? I can't think of any other names using the initials TNS errrr The New Saints. Aye easy.

We could get a sponsor for the Welsh thread. British Coal? sorry

I'll take Port Talbot. After hold TNS on draw, and won vs. Llanelli, Rhyl, Newton, and now Swasea it's look to me as clear home win, even when I know that they played OT. "They've not only beaten a strong Swansea side but matched them in all areas of the pitch. I don't think anyone could deny that." Think that this win vs. Swansea will boost them to beat Haver.

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

totally agree with you Bruce , Port Talbot are the in-form team at the moment [they were my only WPL bet last week ] and their home record is good ,in their defeat to Porthmadog they were unlucky according to Porthmadog fans who made the trip to see the match.

Port Talbot home record is W6 D2 L2

the last 6 league results were:
2007-01-13 Newtown - Port Talbot 1-2
2007-01-06 Port Talbot - Rhyl 3-2
2007-01-01 Port Talbot - Llanelli 1-0
2006-12-26 Llanelli - Port Talbot 0-0
2006-12-16 Port Talbot - Porthmadog 1-2
2006-12-02 Port Talbot - Welshpool 0-0

Haverfordwest away record is W2 D4 L5

Haverfordwest last 6 matches
2007-01-12 Haverfordwest - Cwmbran 2-0
2007-01-06 Connahs Quay - Haverfordwest 5-3
2007-01-01 Carmarthen - Haverfordwest 1-3 ..Christmas derby match
2006-12-30 Haverfordwest - Caersws 1-0
2006-12-26 Haverfordwest - Carmarthen 0-1 ..Christmas derby match
2006-12-16 Bangor City - Haverfordwest 4-1

The Port Talbot match was on BBC 2 Wales last night , and they played well against a decent Swansea side , which included Trundle.
This is a match report from welsh-premier site
Quote:
PORT Talbot gained a famous victory as they reached the FAW Premier Cup semi-finals by beating holders Swansea City 2-1 at The Remax Stadium.
Former Swan Andrew Mumford's goal four minutes from the end of extra-time proved decisive, after the tie had ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
The Steelmen christened their new stand with a ground record crowd of 2,640 but there was little hint of the drama to come in a lacklustre first-half.
Kyle Graves put Swansea ahead in the second-half after a one-two with Lee Trundle, but the Steelmen hit back on 74 minutes. Keeper Willy Gueret flapped at a free-kick and when Matthew Rees headed back into the box, Richard French forced home from short range.
Dane Williams hit the Swansea crossbar in extra-time and both Martin Rose and French also went close, before Craig Hanford set-up substitute Mumford who struck a low drive from 20-yards past Gueret to seal the win.
Talbot join The New Saints in the last four with two other ties still to be played.
"I'm immensely proud of the players. They did a fantastic job," Talbot boss Wayne Davies told BBC Wales.
"They've not only beaten a strong Swansea side but matched them in all areas of the pitch. I don't think anyone could deny that."

Good luck fellas

I've just had a good read up on your thoughts, looked at the table and stats and i'm going to have a couple of bets on Welshpool and Port Talbot this weekend, i'm a little surprised by the odds.
It's always worth coming in here to look for a bet

Those were the two I was considering kop , but the latest odds from oddschecker shows that the prices of both have fallen.

These are the latest from oddschecker
Friday
20:30 Port Talbot (1.75) Draw (3.6) Haverfordwest County (4.3)

Saturday
15:30 Welshpool (1.67) Draw (3.5) Bangor City (4.8)

I've decided to go against my thought on betting on Friday's matches and I've had a punt on Port Talbot , but those Welshpool odds are nearer a realistic level. This one may require further investigation.
Perhaps I should get a betway account to take the early price or delay my posting until bet365 , sporting and corals have decided on their prices

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

Welshpool [3rd] v Bangor [8th]

Welshpool home record W6 D2 L1

Welshpool last 6 matches in the league
2007-01-13 Llanelli - Welshpool 2-3
2007-01-05 Welshpool - Airbus 6-3
2006-12-30 Welshpool - Porthmadog 3-1
2006-12-26 TNS - Welshpool 6-0
2006-12-16 Welshpool - Aberystwyth 1-0
2006-12-08 Welshpool - Cefn 4-2

Some good result except for that hammering at TNS on Boxing Day

Bangor's away record W2 D2 L4

Bangor's last 6 league matches
2007-01-12 Airbus - Bangor City 4-1
2007-01-06 Bangor - TNS 0-2
2007-01-01 Bangor - Caernarfon 0-0
2006-12-26 Caernarfon - Bangor City 0-1
2006-12-16 Bangor - Haverfordwest 4-1
2006-12-09 Newtown - Bangor City 2-1

Bangor's away record is rather poor , one of the away wins was the 0-1 at Caernarfon in the Boxing Day derby against the bottom club that has not won at home yet.
Some more exits from Bangor , but these players were not at the club very long , but it appears Bleasdale is struggling to hang on to players in this league.
Quote:
TWO more players have left Bangor City, goalkeeper Dimitris Brinias and forward Ben Kitchen.
Brinias was outstanding in his only game for the Bangor against TNS.
from welsh-premier site.

these odds are being offered by betway for this match
Welshpool - Bangor 1.85 3.50 3.5

I will have to open an account with betway if I'm going to bet on this match.

My Friday evening bet is Port Talbot @1.75 with sportingodds

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

PORTHMADOG will fight the penalties imposed by the FAW after being found guilty of a racial abuse charge.
The Traeth outfit feel they have been punished harshly after a spectator shouted racial abuse at assistant referee Gary Ismial during December's Welsh Premier fixture against Cwmbran Town.
The FAW fined Porthmadog £13,200, of which all but £1,000 is suspended, and deducted three league points. But joint manager Osian Roberts says: "We are definitely going to appeal against this.

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

The FA of Wales confirm what a load of wankers they are

This from welsh-premier site
Quote:
ROUGH JUSTICE

TUESDAY 16th January 2007 will go down in history as the day the Football Association of Wales finally lost the plot.
Within the space of a few days, disciplinary panels have made baffling decisions about two of the clubs within the governing body's jurisdiction.
• On Saturday 11 November, fourth official Alan Sheffield needed seven stitches in a head wound and underwent minor surgery to repair a split artery after he was hit by a missile thrown by a Newport fan during the FA Cup tie with Swansea. The culprit was never identified. The Exiles were fined £2,000, of which £1,000 was suspended. No other sanction was applied.
• On Saturday 9 December, a spectator made a racist remark to an assistant referee during a Welsh Premier game at The Traeth. He was apprehended by other spectators, apologised immediately and was banned by the club from attending future games. Porthmadog were fined £13,200 (£12,200 suspended) and deducted three league points.
The massive disparity in the respective punishments says that, for a spectator to racially taunt a linesman is more than six times worse than severing a fourth official's artery with a coin.
It's akin to a high court judge sentencing a burglar to 13 years and then giving a murderer two years in the same court.
It proves that the FAW is totally incapable of extending its powers to what are basically criminal matters.
Spectators who can be caught, identified and found guilty of misdemeanours should be banned from watching football for an appropriate period and handed over to the Police and the Crown Prosecution Service for justice to be applied.
The FAW should stop running kangaroo courts and get back to administering the game in Wales.
I was at the match when this incident happened on the same wing as the linesman .The official were the usual crap standard at this league .The North Wales ref have a bias towards the northern clubs whilst the South Wales refs have a bias towards the southern clubs. The officials at this game were having an atrocious second half . Being a few years older than the culprit Carwyn I can laugh at the decsions made by the officials.
The facist slur was made by one stupid person in a crowd of about 200 , he was shouted down by his friends and made by them to apologise to the offical , he was then banned from the ground by the club. The linesman accepted the apology but matters were taken further as a referee assessor was present at the match.
I think the officals would have been subjected to more abuse if they had been English. I am totally against any racism and do not think the fans at Porthmadog are racist.
In a previous match when there was a female official , there were chants from the 30 odd fans behind the goal of " who's the slag with a flag".
I found this offensive but the official gave a strained smile and continued making terrible decisions. Should the club be charged with being sexist?

I realise that a directive has come from UEFA about racist comments , but applying the same criteria to one stupid individual in a crowd of 200 as a large group of supporters in a crowd of 20,000.

I will try my best not to call the officials at Saturday's match wankers if they make a "mistake" even though I and many others have abused the referees and linesmen for years.

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

Last night my Friday evening hoodoo continues , the results

Aberystwyth 4-2 Newtown

Port Talbot 1-4 Haverfordwest County

today match that is off

Cwmbran Town P-P Caernarfon Town

If you have read the previous post about the FAWales decision regarding my club Port you may realise that those wankers do not understand the WPL .

I would be extremely greatful if you could sign the online petition and notify your friends of its existance.

Re: League Of Wales: 19/20th Jan

My losses in this league season have mainly been down to Friday evening betting and betting on games involving my team Porthmadog , I lost my Friday evening bet last night so being the fool that I am today's bet involves my Porthmadog

Porthmadog [11th] v Rhyl [1st] 2@1.57 with bet365

stats
Port home record W2 D4 L3
Rhyl away record W5 D2 L3

Port have gained points this season due to draws , a few of these they have great character and come from behind , I just cannot see them doing that against league leaders Rhyl who have been playing well this season .I can see Rhyl scoring a few today as our defence has been poor at home. Conditions here at Porthmadog are perfect for football , dry , sunny and hardly any wind.

h2h against Rhyl were poor until the corresponding fixture last season , be aware I was on Rhyl that day when Port won at home, we were lucky to get the win.

h2h
2006-09-09 Rhyl 2-1 Porthmadog
2006-02-11 Rhyl 3-0 Porthmadog
2005-09-25 Porthmadog 2-1 Rhyl
2005-03-22 Porthmadog 0-3 Rhyl
2004-11-16 Rhyl 3-1 Porthmadog
2004-05-01 Porthmadog 0-2 Rhyl
2003-12-26 Rhyl 6-1 Porthmadog

we also lost 4-0 to Rhyl in the league cup semi final earlier in the season.
