Welsh Premier League 12/13th Jan

the odds for this weekend games from bet365

12 Jan 19:30 Airbus UK v Bangor City 4.00 3.30 1.75
12 Jan 19:30 Haverfordwest v Cwmbran 1.80 3.25 3.75
12 Jan 19:30 Newi Cefn Druids v Caersws 2.00 3.20 3.20
13 Jan 14:30 Caernarfon v Connah's Quay 4.50 3.50 1.61
13 Jan 14:30 Llanelli v Welshpool Town 1.70 3.50 4.20
13 Jan 14:30 Newtown v Port Talbot 2.75 3.25 2.25
13 Jan 14:30 Rhyl v Aberystwyth 1.36 3.75 8.00
13 Jan 14:30 T.N.S. v Carmarthen 1.30 4.33 8.00

My initial thoughts ,

Fri 12 Jan 2007 Airbus [16th] v Bangor [8th]
Airbus home record W1 D2 L5
Bangor's away record W2 D2 L3

Bangor should win this match

Fri 12 Jan 2007 Haverfordwest [10th] v Cwmbran [12th]
Haverfordwest home record W3 D2 L3
Cwmbran's away record W2 D3 L3

I think it could be a home win in this match
Cwmbran lost 2-0 at home last week to lowly Newtown

I'm giving these Friday evening matches a miss

Fri 12 Jan 2007 Cefn Druids [13th]v Caersws [15th]
Cefn's home record W3 D2 L2
Caersws away record W2 D2 L4

Cefn win in this one

Sat 13 Jan 2007 Caernarfon [17th] v Connah's Quay [5th]
Caernarfon awful home record W0 D1 L7
Connah's away record W3 D4 L2

Form and league position says a it should be an away win , but giving this one a miss

Sat 13 Jan 2007 Llanelli [4th] v Welshpool [3rd]
Llanelli home record W4 D2 L0
Welshpool away record W5 D1 L3

Llanelli recent form has been poor .
I saw them last week against Porthmadog , they should have won , but they are lacking the spark they had last season at the moment.
Welshpool have been playing well recently until they had the 6-0 hiccup at TNS.
This is difficult to predict , may require futher investigation though

Sat 13 Jan 2007 Newtown [14th] v Port Talbot [7th]
Newtown poor home record W1 D1 L5
Port Talbot away record W2 D1L 4
Newtown are playing poor this season
Port Talbot had some recent good wins against Llanelli and Rhyl
I fancy this match for an away win

Sat 13 Jan 2007 Rhyl [2nd]v Aberystwyth [9th]
Rhyl's great home record W7 D1 L0
Aber away record W4 D1 L3

Rhyl are an excellent home side .
Following a defeat last week to Port Talbot they will be eager to get back on a winning run
Home win for me here but poor price

Sat 13 Jan 2007 TNS [1st] v Carmarthen [6th]
TNS impressive home record W9 D0 L1
Carmarthen away record W4 D1 L2

Home win again but poor price again

Re: Welsh Premier League 12/13th Jan

Newtown[14th] v Port Talbot[7th]

Newtown home record W1 D1 L5
Newtown last 6 league matches

2007-01-06 Cwmbran - Newtown 0-2
2007-01-01 Caersws - Newtown 0-1
2006-12-26 Newtown - Caersws 0-1
2006-12-16 Carmarthen - Newtown 2-0
2006-12-09 Newtown - Bangor City 2-1
2006-12-02 Airbus UK - Newtown 1-2

Port Talbot away record W2 D1 L4
Port Talbot last 6 league games

2007-01-06 Port Talbot - Rhyl 3-2
2007-01-01 Port Talbot - Llanelli 1-0
2006-12-26 Llanelli - Port Talbot 0-0
2006-12-16 Port Talbot - Porthmadog 1-2
2006-12-02 Port Talbot - Welshpool 0-0
2006-11-24 Port Talbot - Cwmbran 2-0

On the face of it Newtown recent league record looks decent.
On further investigation it can be seen that Newtown have played the clubs at the lower reaches of the table.
Carmarthen [6th] excepted the teams are poor performers in the league ,Cwmbran [12TH] ,Cefn [13th] ,Newtown [14th] ,Caersws [15th] ,Airbus [16th].
Caernarfon [17th] achieved their only win of their terrible season at Newtown early in November.
So Newtown recent performances have not been against much opposition

In contrast Port Talbot have played some of teams in the top reaches of the league and achieved decent results.
Port Talbots opponents league positions were Rhyl[2nd], Llanelli[4th] twice ,Porthmadog[11th] ,Welshpool[3rd] and Cwmbran[12th]
Port Talbot have played 5 out of their last 6 at home which has been of great benefit to them.
Port Talbot have performed better against team at the top end of the table.
Friend who went to Port Talbot to watch my team Porthmadog reported a great performance by our defence and a lucky winning goal from Clayton Blackmore.
Porthmadog had been reduced to 10 men when keeper Harvey was sent off early in the match and replaced by defender John Jones , who performance was heroic.
Port Talbot's performances have been very good recently and their confidence is high.

So my bet for this weekend will be Port Talbot @2.35 with expekt

Re: Welsh Premier League 12/13th Jan

I'm not betting on these matches but have posted up the match previews from my local paper about the North Wales fixtures

Airbus v Bangor

The latest rumour about Bangor's manager doing the rounds up here covered by Daily Post

Quote:
STEVE BLEASDALE has denied reports that he is in line to take over as manager of struggling Southport in the Conference and has pledged his future to Bangor City.
“I want to do the business for chairman Ken Jones and Bangor, and my aim is to get the team up to a top five place in the second half of the Welsh Premier season,” he said.
Liverpool-based Bleasdale, who arrived at Farrar Road in November after having made a TV-filmed exit from Peterborough United last season, said the Southport talk was pure rumour.
“In football, rumour is rife and the fact is that no one from that club has contacted me, although about 20 of my friends and associates have been on the phone to tell me I am in for the job,” he added.
“If a Football League club were to come along, offering a few grand a week, then obviously I would have to look at it, but my commitment is to Bangor.
and the latest news

Quote:
“Our squad is looking stronger and more solid, the players are getting to know me and I am getting to know them – and things are developing nicely.”
A big plus for City and Bleasdale ahead of tonight’s tricky visit to next-to-bottom Airbus UK is the return of captain Paul O’Neill.
The centre-back has been out of action for several weeks, initially because of a broken toe and then a bout of flu made him miss last Saturday’s showdown with The New Saints.
O’Neill is likely to start at the Broughton ground, where Bangor fear that heavy pitch conditions will contribute to the risk of defeat.
Bleasdale said: “We must be on our mettle to get a result against a team who are fighting for their lives near the bottom of the table.
“We have three difficult games coming up, with Welshpool and Carmarthen to follow, and my aim is to collect six points out of nine if we can – and certainly losing is not to be considered.”
Airbus are ready to ring the changes as they bid to halt their alarming Welsh Premier slump in tonight’s home clash, writes John Bridgwater.
Eight straight defeats have left the Wingmakers deep in relegation danger, with last Friday’s 6-3 hammering at Welshpool underlining their defensive shortcomings.
Bangor should win this match

Cefn Druids v Caersws

Match preview from Daily Post Jan 12 2007 .I've bolded the missing player , Heverin will be missed as he's scored 8 fom 23 league goals for Cefn.

Quote:
NEWI Cefn Druids look to put their revival back on track when they host fellow basement rivals Caersws tonight.
The Ancients have been steadily climbing away from trouble in recent weeks, but last Saturday’s 4-0 reverse at Carmarthen was a timely reminder there is still plenty of work to be done.
And manager Dixie McNeil, who missed the west Wales setback, is looking for a swift riposte from his side who have still won four of their last six outings.
“We had been showing a lot more pride in our performances so we were surprised how it ended up 4-0 last week after we had been in the game for 70 minutes,” he said.
“But that’s gone now, we’ve got to put it behind us and concentrate on getting up the table and making sure we’re safe.”
Druids striker Mike Heverin is suspended after being dismissed last week, although tonight’s game could face a pitch inspection following recent heavy rain.
Caersws, with just one league win in 12 league outings, are anticipating a stern test as they bid to boost their own prospects of pushing up the table.
They are again hampered with selection problems, with defender Colin Reynolds and midfielder Martin Plant both likely to be suspended for the trip to Plaskynaston.
Striker Graham Evans is rated 50-50 with a hamstring problem, while midfielder Graham Jones again misses out with a thigh muscle problem.
“It’s a big game as the Druids are on a decent run and must now be the most experienced side in the league,” said Caersws manager Mickey Evans.

Re: Welsh Premier League 12/13th Jan

Today's match that is OFF ..been selected by a couple of the boys in the T.C.
TNS Carmarthen OFF

Today's fixtures as of 12:00
Caernarfon Town v Connah's Quay Nomads 14:30
Llanelli AFC v Welshpool Town 14:30
[Match ON following pitch inspection]
Newtown AFC v Port Talbot Town 14:30
Rhyl FC v Aberystwyth Town 14:30
The New Saints P-P Carmarthen Town OFF

Last night's results
Airbus 4-1 Bangor ..where did that come from?... very windy at the match
Haverfordwest 2-0 Cwmbran
Cefn 2-2 Caersws

The weather here in North Wales is very blustery with showers [Porthmadog under 11 and under 14 called off as its "too rough" ..what ! ] which could give us some upsets like Bangor's defeat last night.

My only bet is the Port Talbot one I've done since Thursday.

If I had to pick an upset it would have to be Caernarfon , whose problem is scoring.

Good luck if you are having a bet in this league today
