Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Wow - i can see myself getting really stuck into the coupon this weekend.

Am i missing something here but how big is that 1.86 on Bolton at home to Man City??

City have won last 3 EPL games but hardly convincing sides thse have come from against Sheff Utd, Everton and West Ham who are all struggling at the minute.

Bolton beat them just a few weeks back away 2-0 in a comfortable victory. Bolton with one of the best home records in league too. Price should be far lower imo.

Blackburn @ 4.60
Newcastle @ 5.00

Two teams on current form who's prices are too big. Will look into it more closer to the day.

Totally agree with Blackburn, theyre exactly a kind of opponent Arsenal do poorly against on the road arent they in recent times. They dont like it up em etc. Blackburn now on very good form too you have to say. I think thats a super price id probably have them as a 2/1 chance it should be a very even game.

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Conversely I dont agree at all on the Newcastle shout. Spurs are very very solid at home and any of Newcastles decent form has come at St.James Park it really has. Spurs definitely deserve odds on status in this ecnounter imo I dont understand why anyone would be sweet on Newcastle here.

I understand the Bolton shout and I wouldnt put anyone off of that one but the odds look more or less right to me regarding the fact City have sorted out themeselves on their travels more now.

Charlton at 6/4 isnt the worst thing ive ever seen when you consider that Boros away record is 0-4-7. Charlton played a decent enough couple of home games since Pardew took over. I guess the draw is a distinct worry though. As Charlton have home advantage they should be favourites so 1.87 on the Charlton 0 handicap isnt too bad.

Anyone wanting to back Everton (fat chance ) should be on the hunt for a 6/5 quote on the exchanges if they can and if they cant find that dont bother. Id rate us at Evens to win the game which is pretty much what the odds actually are at the moment. No one should be backing Reading imo, theyre not even that long.

Im definitely going to be on Blackburn. Not sure in what way though. Straight 7/2 for the win? 2/1 DNB? 2.02 on the Blackburn +0.5? They are all good bets.

fancying west ham, couple of new faces in now and playing for their futures with the window open. fulham are quite bad on the road too, (not got stats on me the now) and reckon it'll be a 1-0 job

also like the look of bolton for the double!

Also agree that Newcastle are a great price against Spurs who although are a good side at home, still think it is great value. Also would back West Ham and think Pompey are a great price away to Sheff Utd.

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Not so sure about Newcastle as Spurs are a different team @ home and seem to knock em in for fun, Liverpool game was a bit of a non entity but Spurs had more than enough chances to finish them off.
Newcastle have not impressed me all season and its only the intoduction of Martins that have changed there fortunes imo due to his nuisance and speed up front, They may have clouted Spurs a few weeks back at St James' but so have most teams on the rd bar Man City .
This will be a different kettle of fish with Defoe as usual back to his best playing at home.

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Bolton should Kick Citys ass quite easily, We've had a good run of late but have not looked impressive in any of those games.
Pearce is playing a dodgey strategy of just sitting back defending and playing on the counter, trying to nick a goal then all hands to the pump defending.

Its worked in the last few games as we have not played anybody of note bar Everton and even they are going through a sticky patch.
Bolton are made of a lot sterner stuff and have a strike force to destroy City just like they did a few weeks back and City just have nobody up front in reply.
Barton will be back for this one but as City never got beat while he was out i don't know if he will start or not.
Not that it will make much of a difference to the result as i expect City to get beat by at least a couple with Anelka bagging @ least one as usual.

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Newcastle have a shit record in London but I 'm tempted with the price (as are others) and as mentioned it's both clubs home form which is shinning through but the price tempts me.........so does the price on Arsenal tbh - with Henry back Arsenal are a completely different outfit.

Newcastle & Arsenal for me

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Watford v Liverpool - after terrible defeat against Arsenal, Liverpool should very easy win this one ( without Dudek this time )

Bolton v Man City - narrow Bolton win

Charlton v Middlesbrough - don't know what to think, for Charlton it's must win game, but not the first and not the last one...

Chelsea v Wigan - another draw - no way ! easy home win, but 1.2 ?!?

Man Utd v Aston Villa - a German man would say: siehe oben

Sheff Utd v Portsmouth - no bet

West Ham v Fulham - It's time to win for Hammers ( but be careful, I'm not objective, I like them)

Blackburn v Arsenal - I can see a suprise here...

Everton v Reading - I have nothing against a typical Everton 1-0 win

Tottenham v Newcastle - a difficult one, I don'tbet on it,but think,that Spurs can win this one

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

I'm not so sure about Chelsea Bosman as i think Wigan could snatch another draw here on Chelsea's current form, they still have not plugged the gap Terry has left and Essien didnt look very comfortable playing as a center half there against Wycombe either. Cole missing for this game as he is out suspended will not help but @ least they have cover in the form of Bridge.

Wigan usually go for a result playing either home or away and they could pinch a draw here and @ those odds i may be tempted to lay Chelsea as Wigan do seem to play well against them allthough Chelsea have a habit of nicking last minure winners against them.

Premiership
There's just too much to go into at this stage. The January transfer window always seems to be a desperate scramble to avoid relegation or push into Europe. Consequently there are rumours flying everywhere with very little cohesion to any of them.
But as far as I'm aware Ashley Young should be joining Tottenham from Watford next week, with Wayne Routledge very possibly heading in the other direction. Meanwhile Edgar Davids could well be on his way to AZ Alkmaar.

For some reason Portsmouth have signed Djimi Traore, despite him being absolutely appalling at Charlton. So that's all a bit odd. Manchester City's Ben Thatcher, meanwhile, is said to be on the verge of a move to the Valley.

Shock move of the window could well be Jonathan Stead leaving Sunderland to sign for Sheffield United. He's looked anything but a Premiership quality striker and the move smacks a little of desperation. But then this is Sheffield United we're talking about.

Let's face it, we're not really going to know what's going on until the window creaks to a close at midnight on January 31. By which point I shall be pretty much rumoured out. You ask too much of me you know. Too much.

Oh and David Villa to Liverpool apparently. It'll never happen but someone told me it was all but done. They also said Peter Crouch to Newcastle, which seems a little more realistic.

Right that's enough for now. Leave me alone, I want to go home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Best laid claims
Beckham to LA Galaxy then. And just the $250 million over five years. It's good to see a player moving on the cheap. *is quietly sick into his own pockets*

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Thatcher going to Charlton was a bit Odd as now it only leaves City with Jordan in that position and he can't really cut it at this level, Pearce is probably thinking Distin can play there if need be and Richards can fill in for him but it could go tits up if we find ourselves in a relegation battle.
But Thatcher has always wanted a move back down south and now he has got his wish.

I don't mind Traore as he had some cracking games for Liverpool and I reckon Peace could have pushed for a straight swap if he had used his nouce.

Re: Barclays Premiership: 13/14th Jan

Well im with the ones that think Spurs are an ok price. As Kegman says Newcastle don't travel to the capital lwell and as Mr M says Spur's home form has been pretty solid. Truth be told its a no bet for me.

I was here as i quite liked the evens on Everton but Mr M has made me pause a moment on that one. im getting 5/6 on Arsenal im im sorely tempted. Need to look into that one.
