One line thoughts:

Caley don't tend to win at Pittodrie but with a midweek tie v Hibs I'll prob be leaving Aberdeen alone here.

What will that win over Rangers do for Dunfermline? Centrebet go 5.50 and that could be worth a look, altho the stats don't back that up in the slightest.

Rangers are a definite lay v United - one of the bogey sides for the Gers, not to mention whats happening upstairs at Ibrox.

St Mirren are stumbling but are still doing ok at home but I dont think I could take them as favourites here.

A healthy 2.10 available on Celtic. They have had a little mid season stumble as often seems to happen, and on the other side this is a perfect way to get back to business. Hearts are only 5-2-4 at home...not a patch on how they were when Burley was in charge.

My short thoughts:
The odds is too short on Aberdeen and I the ICT odds is not as high as I hoped.
Not sure if Dunfermline are able to defeat Falkirk. They scored 3 vs Rangers, but they normally play 90 mins without scoring. Will Falkirk crush them?
Tricky game in Glasgow and I do not dare to touch it. I do not trust Rangers anymore at such odds.
Thinking about Motherwell actually, but not 1x2-odds. An asian handicap on them tempts me abit, but I think I will skip that one too.
I will stay away from Celtic even if it is 2,1. Thinking about an asian on Hearts cause it wont be easy for visitors @ Tynecastle. Hearts seems to be in better shape than in a long time, or am I wrong?
Guess its going to be a funny match between Killie and Hibs, but the odds are IMO correct and I will skip it!

Aberdeen vs ICT and ICT has never beaten the dons ever and the dons struggle at home with ICT which normally result in draw - stil fancy the dons as i think Inverness are poor and have lost 5 away from home this season. Falkirk are far too short for me although i can't take dunfermline as they are gash. Rangers vs Dundee Utd and i think Rangers will win this if Walter takes over today - bit of a lift for them. St Mirren vs Motherwell and no value in either i think. Hearts vs Celtic and i can't select Celtic as they are playing shite at the moment but Hearts not that great but might win 3/1 is tempting. Killie vs Hibs and i slighty fancy hibs at that price but tough game to predict since killie will be hurting after their performance at Morton.

Falkirk have beaten Dunfermline twice already but without Stokes and with the transfer rumours flying about Gow (will this un-settle him ?) and with Dunfermline winning last week ? - tough call

Both Hearts v Celtic games have ended up 2-1 wins for home teams but another close call me's thinks - What sort of reception will Elvis get ? Good I think but will this add more spice to it ??

Rangers I hink will win with the new management team but odds are poor - no bet

Motherwell are doing OK of late and St Mirren are now finding SPL life a bit tougher than they did in the early days - the Saints won the last won at home 2-0 but Motherwell have improved since then - I fancy the away as well.

Kilmarnock Hibs have been close affairs and I can't separate them - as already mentioned cup game midweek and having a replay to look forward to may cause them to be a little unfocused......tight

Aberdeen coming off a good battling Scottish cup draw with Hibs at home, unlucky not to escape with the win though. Stats are good for the last 5 games at home with 4-0-1 and maintaining their reputation as having a mean defence this season with a for/ag. of 9/2.

ICT on the other hand have been a bit below average over the last 8 games, but especially away, 0-1-4 overall and finding goals hard to come by. The defence has been pretty poor on the road as well, but maybe their 6-1 Scottish cup win over Stirling can inspire them on to better play.

Interestingly, h2hs show that all of the last 6 meetings have been Unders, which is around 2.00+ just now, and the last 2 games at Pittodrie have actually ended in a draw. ICT will need to play well, especially in defence, if they want something out the game, but IMO, they may only escape with a point, if anything.

Prediction : Aberdeen win, medium chance of ICT getting a draw.

Falkirk coming off a 2-0 away win at Berwick in the cup and looking to continue their superb home form of 4-1-0. Playing some good football and outscoring opposition teams 3/1 in their last 5 has rightly seen manager John Hughes pick up the Manager of the Month award, with Darren Barr making it a double and getting the Young Player award.

Dunfermline face a make or break game tomorrow to try and save their SPL status, being bottom of the league by a massive 9 point gap. The win over a poor Rangers team should give them confidence but with no wins in the last 5 aways and only 2 goals for, 11 against, its going to take a lot of fight to get something out of the game, although a draw is not an unlikely outcome.

Form appears to have this down as a Falkirk win and I can't really argue with that. Falkirk don't do draws and are a formidable team at home. In terms of Overs/Unders, past games seem to be quite tight as well, so no bet there

Prediction: Falkirk win.

This has got everything. Rangers with a new management team, but he same old dodgy players. Dundee Utd somewhat of a bogey team and starting to find their feet in the league, pitch inspections, fan reactions etc

Rangers coming from a shock loss to SPL bottom team Dunfermline in a cup game that saw them 3 down after 46 mins, and then lose 3-2 overall. Rangers home form seems to look decent but it is the same team that cost Le Guen his job, so as ever this season anything could happen here.

Dundee Utd starting to play better away from home and have eventually got that first away victory in ages. Scoring well away now too, but the for/ag. shows that they still need to tighten up at the back. They went 2-0 up in the first game at Ibrox only to be pegged back to 2-2 in the last 20 mins of that game.

Interestingly, the previous 6 games have a record of 4/2 for Overs/Unders but those 4 Overs have been in the last 4 games, so if form continues, it may be a good bet @ 1.90. Furthermore, the last 3 games at Ibrox are 1-1-1 so United could easily get some or all the points tomorrow depending on the Gers team that turn up. Ladbrokes are offering 2.66 on the United Double Chance, so that may represent some value.

Prediction: Could go all 3 ways. No bet on the winner.
Bets: None for me, but feel free consider the Overs and the Double chance for United.

St Mirren vs Motherwell

St Mirren really starting to feel whats needed to stay in the SPL. Struggling for wins in the last 8 games and average stats at home shown above, they still need to battle hard to get the points to keep them well above a poor Dunfermline team.

Motherwell picking up some good form over recent weeks and their 3-0-2 away record is pretty good. That includes being the first team outside of Rangers and Celtic to beat Kilmarnock at home in 15/16 months, so confidence is pretty good.

The h2h doesn't reveal much because St Mirren only got promoted this season, and the Overs/Unders probably won't be touched by myself. Also hard to predict a winner as although Motherwell are in better form, St Mirren are a bit of a bogey team for them, having drawn and won this season and having won in Cup games over Motherwell last season.

Prediction: Favouring a draw although all 3 results could happen.

Hearts in good form over the last 8 games and looking to continue that form after last weekends victory in the Scottish cup against Stranraer. Average form of 2-1-2 and scoring and conceding over a goal a game at home. As always though, it will depend on the team news prior to KO to make a really informed bet.

Celtic undefeated in at least the last 8, but picked up a couple of unexpected draws over the Xmas games, most noticeably Dundee Utd at Parkhead going 2-0 up before Celtic pulled it back and could have won it.

Games between the 2 are 4/2 for Overs/Unders and the previous 2 games this season have been close 2-1 wins for the home teams. Interestingly, if you go back over the last 4 games, the home team has won each time, so a bet on Hearts @ 3.50 may not be as bad as first thought, since most people will probably be enticed more by the fact that Celtic for once are Evens or above for a game, but Hearts won't make it easy for them.

Predictions: Close to call, but part of me fancies Hearts to keep the trend of the home win going.

Killie with below average form overall in the last 8 games, but still a good home record, with only that loss to Motherwell previously mentioned, being the blot on the form. Outscoring team 2/1 at Rugby Park and still a tidy outfit when playing their football.

Surprisingly for the team in the SPL with the reputation for playing some of the best football, they have been rotten away from home recently, as shown by stats of 1-0-4. They are still a team that can score anywhere but manager Collins still hasn't sorted out their defensive problems, shown by a 10/11 for/ag. record.

WIth Killie averaging 2 goals scored and 1 conceded per game, whilst Hibs score and concede approx. 2 goals a game, its no surprise that the most interesting fact is the last 6 h2h games have all been Overs. In terms of the games in Kilmarnock (3 of last 6), Kilmarnock have won 2 and drew 1, so they will be looking to continue this fine form.

Prediction: Fancy Kilmarnock to win and keep their fine home form this season.
Bets: 2pts on Overs (no price yet), 2pts on Kilmarnock home win @ 2.50.

It was all about the Brewster for Jimmy Calderwood after his side's 2-2 draw with Hibs in the Scottish Cup. The 103-year-old striker scored the Dons' first and the manager was most impressed. Let us enjoy his tribute to the silver fox: "He was magnificent tonight for us, and he really repaid our faith in him. We didn't play at all in the first half but managed to improve but unfortunately we didn't control the game overall. The team showed the resilience and never-say-die attitude I want here." I was musing on Craig Brewster earlier and I decided the reason he moved to Aberdeen is so he can sneak into Inverness on his day off and fill a big duffel bag with Caley players. Old habits die hard.

Celtic

So it's Leeds then for Alan Thompson. I can only imagine he saw my confident prediction he'd be moving to Aston Villa and decided to teach me a lesson. And it's a lesson I won't forget. The midfielder is 'quite close' to joining the club, certainly according to assistant manager Gus Poyet. "We've been looking for a couple of weeks and it's quite close. It's a case of medicals and things but we hope to have him training."

This could go in either Celtic or Rangers, but I've got a feeling the Gers is going to be a bit full today. So look, both clubs are after James McCarthy from Hamilton, the latest wunderkind du jour. Liverpool and Reading are both after him as well, and he's only 16, blimey. Actually, looking at the picture of him, he looks about 12.

Oh and look, Stephen Pearson's gone to Derby for £750,000. It was always going to happen really. I hope he does alright there since it all went a bit wrong for him at the Bhoys. Shame really, he's a decent player. I've not idea why I appear to be talking in bullet points. Rubbish. Isn't. It?

Dundee Utd

According to the Dundee Evening Telegraph the Arabs will have signed Sean Dillon by the time this appears. Since I'm on the late shift tomorrow, there's no way of knowing at this time. So I could be very wrong. Anyway, Craig Levein said about the Irish defender: "Sean can play in both full-back positions, so it will be nice to have someone versatile." Yes, that will be nice. *wanders off*.

More new recruits at Tannadice, with the news that Jon Daly has joined from Hartlepool. A bumper two and a half year contract has been rustled up for the 23-year-old striker who had this to say for himself: "I heard there was interest from the club and from then I was very interested and it was too good an offer to say no. I was enjoying my time at Hartlepool but when Dundee United came in, it was too good an opportunity to turn down so I'm delighted with it." He sounds a little excitable. This could be interesting.

I feel genuinely sorry for Noel Whelan. After a magnificent three minute career with the Pars, injury has forced him to call it a day. John Yorkston said: "It is unfortunate we never had the chance to see what he could offer." But not quite as unfortunate as the possible end of his career eh John? I ask you.

Falkirk

The Bairns have signed Schmeichel on loan then. Well his son Kasper apparently. The friendly post. *shoots self*. Right, anyway, he's a goalie too and he's on loan from Manchester City. Sadly I have no idea how red his nose may or may not be. Stuart Pearce had some things to say about it, presumably while bellowing and clenching his fists: "I have sent a well-balanced young man out, who has shown to me on the training pitch he is improving every day. He is ready to go out on loan now to Scotland when probably last season we felt League Two was his standard." Which means Stuart Pearce thinks the SPL is worse than League One, nicely damned with faint praise there.

Rangers have seen a bid for Alan Gow turned down by the mighty Bairns. And they even came out claiming they were going to keep him after the summer. Bless their little hearts. Look, just look: "The offer has been rejected as Falkirk remain committed to securing Alan on a longer deal and are having discussions with him." Yes, I bet. We all know he's already ordered new curtains and a big leather recliner for his flat near Murray Park.

Hearts
It's all gone a bit quiet at Hearts these days. No-one's been stripped of the captaincy for ages and there's not been a disciplinary hearing recently either. They have made a signing though. David Templeton apparently, from Stenhousemuir. He's 18 and is expected to join the Jambos' under-19s squad. Here he is talking: "The move to full-time football will help me develop my game and will also allow me to build myself up physically. Hearts is a big club and I'm looking forward to joining the Jambos. I learnt about the potential move on Saturday, but I was obviously familiar with the club and its training facilities." Seven pence says he never plays for the first team. Think of that, seven pence.

Dumitru Copil, the Romanian 16-year-old they've all been chasing, has joined Hearts. Celtic and Liverpool were also in for him apparently, but he saw the light and chose the stability of Tynecastle. Valdas Ivanauskas said: "I think this is a very good deal for us as we have wanted him for some time so we are very pleased. He is just a young player but has very good prospects and we are very happy that he is coming to Hearts." Lot of fuss about nothing if you ask me, as you so often do. Even when I'm in the bath for god's sake. When will you stop asking me?

Poor John Collins, I bet he thought the Hibees were through against Aberdeen in the cup, but then up pops Barry Nicholson to equalise. But he's come out with all manner of fighting talk, that's the spirit. Look at his rabble rousing here: "When the clock's running you'd like to think we can go on and win the game, take the sting out of it near the end. But Aberdeen are the home team and they were pushing forward. I'm disappointed with the goal we've lost. We fancy ourselves at home against anybody." Anybody? Brazil 1970? Nah probably not.

Where will Kevin Thompson and Scott Brown end up? It really is ever so exciting. Certainly in the sense of not being. Anyway, the latest club to make a bid for the wantaway pair would appear to be West Brom. That would be the West Brom managed by ex-Hibs boss Tony Mowbray. The same Tony Mowbray who promised not to raid his former team for new recruits when he moved. For shame Tony Mowbray, for shame.

Charlie Christie is encouraging keeper Mark Brown to extend his contract with Caley as Falkirk track the payer. He told the Aberdeen Press and Journal all about it, but for the purposes of this I shall be pretending Chuck and myself went out for scones and he told me about it. So Charlie told me: "We are aware of Falkirk's interest in Mark and I will be speaking to the chairman to see if there is something we can do. We don't want to lose Mark and I would hope he would look at what we have achieved since we were promoted. We have shown a good deal of loyalty towards Mark and it would be nice if it could be reciprocated." Ooooh a guilt trip, Charlie you bitch you.

Rage. Rage from Jim Jefferies after Morton turned his Killie side over in the cup. Having gone 1-0 up, the Rugby Park side were a little surprised to see three goals flash past them and be ushered out of the competition. I chuckled, but Jim wasn't quite so amused. Enjoy the ire: "Defending was shocking for all three goals. I think they (the players) believe the publicity a wee bit, they think they've cracked it. We don't have money to go out and make wholesale changes or I would." That's the spirit Jim, lose a game and throw all the players out of the pram. Man management at its best.

Motherwell

Motherwell and Stenny up a tree, l-o-a-n-i-ng (players). Yes I know that was rubbish, but I'm tired. So yes, the Well have loaned Adam Coakley to Stenhousemuir for a month, where he's joined fellow Steelman Shaun Fagan. Campbell Money, the man in the hot seat at Stenny, said this: "Adam is quick, useful in front of goal and will give us another option up front given our recent injuries." And he really meant it you know.

Rangers

Oh dear. While it was fairly obvious big Walter was going to be returning to the Gers, it really has caused a bit of a stramash. With the SFA claiming they might well take legal action against both the Ibrox side and Smith himself, Walter has come out with claims of his own. He now reckons that if he'd been offered a contract extension by the SFA, he wouldn't now be the manager of Rangers. "My job with Scotland was going to finish in November if we didn't qualify for the European Championship. I had to look after myself. I would ask people what they would do in the same situation." It's a complicated one to be sure. But I'm on Walter's side, simply because I like him. I'm that shallow.

Julien Rodriguez looks to be the first man out the door as the new broom arrives on the Broomloan. Oh yes, I went there. Anyway, the defender who joined from Monaco in 2005 is set to move to Marseille, subject to a medical. It's not like he played much anyway. *waves him off*.

Andy Todd might be coming in, with his agent reckoning the Blackburn man would be interested in a move to Ibrox. The 32-year-old's agent said as much: "Obviously Rangers are a massive club and I'm sure Andy would be interested if they made an approach." Which roughly translates as: "Both Andy and myself like money, we would be very interested in seeing what Sir David Murray's currency looks like."

Also arriving in Govan is Celtic reserve team coach Kenny McDowall. He's been credited with producing a lot of the young talent at Parkhead and, let's face it, Rangers could do with a bit of that.

Poor Andy Webster, he finally gets the move to Rangers he's been hankering after for so long and then he pings his medial ligament. Oh well, he'll be back in six weeks, so he's no Daniel Prodan.

Gus MacPherson got cross about something. \o/ hurrah \o/. He was most perturbed after Dundee United managed to get their game with the Buddies called off when the Arabs squad was struck down by some manner of horror virus. Gus went off on one: "If it had been an SPL game, they would have been told to play it. We all have injuries and illness. It was an incredible decision that sets a dangerous precedent." He's so much more fun when he gets vexed. More of irate Gus. More I say.

Kilmarnock midfielder James Fowler fears the return of Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson when Hibernian visit Rugby Park in the Bank of Scotland Premier League tomorrow night.

Brown is likely to return after a hamstring injury while Thomson is available after missing the Tennent's Scottish Cup draw at Aberdeen through suspension.

The return of the pair would be a huge boost to a Hibs side reeling from news of the Achilles injury to striker Chris Killen that has ruled the New Zealander out for the rest of the season.

Fowler, whose side will move level on points with Hibs if they win the encounter, said: ``Hibs are going well even though Chris Killen will be a big loss to them after his injury.

``Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson will be back for them so it will be tough.

``Those two are as good as you'll come up against in the SPL, especially Thomson.

``He builds everything for them while Brown is more dynamic and likes to get forward. I'll probably need to match Scott's runs from midfield.''

Meanwhile, Hibernian right-back Steven Whittaker insists he is happy to play in a more advanced role under manager John Collins if it yields results.

The 22-year-old defender showed his versatile side at Aberdeen on Wednesday night when he was pushed into the right side of midfield.

With Kevin Thomson, Scott Brown, Steven Fletcher and Merouane Zemmama all missing the third round cup tie at Pittodrie, Collins was forced to shuffle his pack and push Whittaker further forward.

Teenager Kevin McCann, 19, slotted in at right-back for his debut while Whittaker tried to make inroads down the flank.

But the Scotland squad member insists it is a role not alien to him as he first started out playing as midfielder.

Now he hopes to continue his consistent season by performing wherever Collins plays him.

He said: ``Kevin did very well at Aberdeen. He came in and put a really good performance in so credit to him.

``He's been done well in training and with the lack of midfielders, I got pushed forward which I was happy to do.

``A lot of people say that I can slot into midfield which I know I'm quite capable of.

``Anytime the gaffer has asked me to push in, I'm quite happy to do that. He has always got that opportunity to do it.

``When I was a youngster, I did play midfield and it was (ex-manager) Bobby Williamson who tried me out at right-back. I did well and from then on really I made that position my own.

``I've been quite steady this season. Just to be in the team every week is a bonus, getting match practice and experience at this level is great.''

Ahead of a busy spell of three games in six days this week, Whittaker knows the club must adapt quickly to the loss of injured top scorer Chris Killen.

The New Zealander is out for up to nine months after surgery on a torn Achilles tendon but Whittaker has called on the club's other forwards to take their chance.

He added: ``I think we've got players that can come in and hopefully fill Chris's boots.

``Young Steven Fletcher has been scoring goals when he has been playing and Benji has done well when he's come on. Hopefully he can get a start and produce something for us.

``We're going to miss Chris' (Killen) physical presence, but hopefully someone can do the same job.''

HIBERNIAN look the call at 13-8 to heap more misery on Kilmarnock by winning tonight’s live SPL encounter from Rugby Park.

The home team are enduring their worst run of the results of the season and could hardly be more out of form ahead of a game which could have a significance as far as the outcome of SPL betting without Celtic, Rangers and Hearts is concerned.

The 3-1 humbling by Second Division Morton in the Cup in their last outing was Kilmarnock’s fourth defeat in five games and provoked a furious reaction from boss Jim Jefferies, who was irate with how his team defended.

Killie are still affected by a debilitating injury crisis, and though Hibs have not always been a team to follow in their away games this season – they have won only three of 11 on the road – they should have too much for under-strength opponents.

John Collins’ team are not one you would want to play when you are conceding goals, given the ability of Ivan Sproule to run at defenders from the right flank. And with ace central-midfield pairing Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson restored to the line-up after injury and suspension, the visitors should be on top in the battle for possession.

Kilmarnock
Momo Sylla should make his Kilmarnock debut but Gordon Greer has picked up a knee ligament tear. Frazer Wright is doubtful, while David Fernandez, David Lilley, Ryan O’Leary and Paul Di Giacomo are out.

Hibernian
Hibs captain Kevin Thomson returns from suspension and fellow midfielder Scott Brown is set for a comeback following a hamstring injury. Fit-again Steven Fletcher will replace the injured Chris Killen up front, but Merouane Zemmama remains sidelined.

I initially went for Killie in my earlier post, but that injury list looks a bit much now, especially as Greer and Wright are defenders in a pretty tight Kilmarnock defence at home. Probably wont bet on the game tonight as Killie should still be an organised unit capable of the draw and the Overs bet I liked the look of is pretty low odds at 1.72 some places.

Hibs should get an away tonight based on the strength of the teams available, but its pretty close to call imo.

Unlucky Kiko, i might have done the same but decided to lay hibs at 2.48 and then by the end of the first half i noticed how shite both sides was and then hibs subs at half time worried me slighty so i waited a few minutes and layed it and then 20 seconds hibs scored phew - saying that it was a tiny lay for me. Still it won't make up for the hearts game which i had Hearts with draw no bet
