Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
Airdrie V Motherwell is a local derby and Airdrie has an ok cup tradition. Not a game i would instantly be attracted to and Airdrie could be missing striker Prunty. Motherwell seem too short for me at 4/7 but the over 2.5 goals could appeal.
Berwick v Falkirk is another game which i would find it hard to get involved in. Falkirk are no price but they should win v possible Scottish 3rd division champions elect Berwick. I think Berwick are vurnerable at home but i also belive that Falkirk have lost goal scoring machine Stokes.
Celtic v Dumbarton - yes the odds reflect the chances. Dumbarton to be drawing half time and celtic winning full time could be a possibility to me but otherwise no bet for me.
Clyde v Gretna is a cracking tie and one that i could well chance the home team in. Clyde have gave Gretna 2 hard games this season and i belive they held them to a draw in last seasons scottish cup which saw Gretna reach the final. The price on the home is definetlt worth looking at imo. Grwtna drew 0-0 with Clyde in last years cup and also beat them at Broadwood 2-1 in the league.
Cowdenbeath wil be looking for some revenge v Brechin after Brechin beat them 4-2 at Brechin last week. Both these teams can score goals for fun so expect a few goals. Brechin i believe will just be too strong for them but i can't see me betting on this game. Brechin have beaten Cowdenbeath twice this seaon in the league scoring 7 goals in the process.
Elgin conquerers of the highland league leaders Buckie last round come up against last season's highland league winners. I quite like the price on the away but Deveronvale will be no mugs. M Johnston is back on form for Elgin and if Adam Nelson is back then i would definetly be interested in Elgin
Dundee have played QOS a few times this season and have had the upper hand in most although theyve been tight games. The price on the home looks ok but Dundee often let down their fans and bettors when least expected. the price on dundee almost makes me want to get involved. Im sure QOS will be more bothered about the league this season than a cup run.
Hamilton hopefully will still have a few injuries and the reports from Livi visiting Hamilton's plastic pitch when drawing there a few weeks ago should make interesting reading. I could be very interested in Livinston. Hamilton beat Livingston in the league at Livingstone on the Friday night game this season and Livi drew at Hamilton as mentioned.
It should be a full house at Morton for the visit of kilmarnock. Cappelow is never an easy place to go especially on cup duties. Kilmarnock can be an unpredictable lot in cups v lower division sides and i could see this being a draw and Kilmarnock winning the replay back at Rugby Pk.
Ross County v Partick - Partick have beaten ross twice this season scoring 8 goals in the process. I think these scorelines flattered Partick a bit and i would find it hard to back against ross in the cup.
St johnstone v Ayr looks a tough nut to crack. BEtting against Ayr away from home and in cups is an easy way to the poor house the last few seasons. Whilst Ayr continue playing a 4-5-1 formation its hard to see where the goals are gonna come from. St Johnstone are unbeaten in the last 6 meetings between the two sides.
Stirling v ICT - There's no real form to go on between these 2 but stirling have never beaten ICT. Inverness are no mugs on the road and if i can get 4/5 on them i'll take it.
I think Hearts will beat stranraer by 2 or 3 goals and i'll take them -1 goal all day.
Dundee Utd have beaten St Mirren twice on league business this season and with the new manager and sSt Mirren having injury problems to their strikers you have to fancy Dundee Utd at the odds.
Rangers always beat Dunfermline. It's traditional. Rangers are unbeaten in the last 12 v Dunfermline and have only lost once in at least the last 33 meetings.

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
I'll be continuing Jag bashing by backing Ross Cty.
From Jags website:
02 January 2007
The Club are already suffering greatly at this moment in time with illness, injury and suspension and things did not improve much during the game with Clyde on Tuesday. Mark Roberts was the one remaining player suffering from the virus and was confined to barracks, while injury ruled out Jimmy Gibson, Simon Donnelly, Craig Sives and Pat Keogh, Derek Young was suspended.
There were a further three injuries sustained during the game with Scott Boyd (knee), Brown Ferguson (back) and Darren Brady (groin) all having to come off. Firstly the news on Scott Boyd is one of fingers crossed. He sustained a knee injury in an accidental clash with Dougie Imrie and had to be stretchered off. While it is likely to be Wednesday before a clearer analysis can be made, it is hoped that the injury will prove not to be as serious as first thought. Brown Ferguson had a back injury that had him struggling to run and his situation will be re-assessed on Wedensday also while Darren Brady had to come off with a groin injury, again more news on that on Wednesday.
Adding insult to injury Scott McCulloch's red card for two bookable offences means that he will miss out in the league game with Gretna on the 13th of this month, although he will be available for the Cup tie at Dingwall on Saturday.

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
quick thoughts on the scottish cup games:
Airdrie vs Motherwell and this is a derby and i could not back Motherwell at 7/10. They are far too short and i think there could be a shock here although Motherwell playing well at the mo.
Berwick vs Falkirk and this looks like a away win
Celtic vs Dumbarton and if Celtic don't win by 3 then thats a shock!!!.
Clyde vs Gretna and Clyde pretty good at home with only defeat was Gretna i think mmm its about the right price is it.
Cowdenbeath vs Brechin and Brechin on a good run at the moment but this is a tough game to predict is it.
Deveronvale vs Elgin is going to be a very tough game to predict and looking at the prices of 6/4 each that is about right. When will Elgin get a new manager???
Dundee vs Queen of the south the price looks about right and i slighty fancy Dundee.
Hamilton vs Livingston and for some reason i fancy maybe going against Hamilton - Livingston decent away from home although Hamilton only lost 1 in the league - mmm maybe stay away.
Morton vs Killie and this could be a shock in the cards mmm maybe an outside bet on Morton.
Ross County vs Partick Thistle and its worth waiting to see what injury problems Partick have although i don't rate Ross County that highly and be confident on. Partick lost the last 3 but away wise they are a team i fancy more than when they are at home.
St Johnstone vs Ayr and i fancy a home win as Ayr has just won after losing about 7 on the bounce and i think St Johnstone to have too much.
Stranraer vs Hearts and this should be an away win.
Dunfermline vs Rangers and no way could i take rangers at 4/9 - not with the rubbish going on, just a shame that Dunfermline are poor but history wise Dunfermline in the FA cup have not lost the last 2 games at east end park and i'm sure many of us remember the cup shock in the 80's with a very strong Rangers team.
Dundee Utd vs St Mirren and i was vey impressed with Dundee Utd so it was a major shock to seem them lose 5-1 to Falkirk but i think this is a blip and i really fancy evens against a workman like team but not very talented St Mirren team.

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
Just a quick note that stenhousemuir are playing Albion rovers on saturday too. Should be another cracker between them. stenhousemuir have won the last 7 games between but they havent been easy games. Albion rovers have always gave them a game and a half and Stenhousemuir have required a bit of luck in them. Albion rovers have play-off asiprations themselves now after beating Queens park on tuesday. Team news should be interesting especially with the transfer window being open. Looking forward to this one.
The bookies are a bit undecided about it with stenhousemuir bets priced 1.80 Expekt and Worldbet and worse priced 1.53 with betfred and betdirect. the draw is 4.00 with betdirect and the away 5.00 with betfred. How does that book add up? Any arb there?

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
Can't really add much more to that lot tbh.
I actually really like the look of a Dundee double, with both United and Dundee winning at home. Pays about 3.50 if you get the right bookies (that one was Ladbrokes).
Everything else seems about spot on. Teams like Falkirk, Hearts, Celtic etc are correctly priced and should win. Morton may be one to look out for although Killie will put out a strong side to avoid the loss. Motherwell are far too short IMO and you really can't discount the level of hatred between the two teams and fans in this derby match, I could easily see Airdrie getting a draw and a replay. Think the games involving the two teams over the years are usually pretty good for Unders, but I'll check that out with my mate who's a Well fan and get back later.
Shouldn't appear to be many shocks in this round of the Cup, but you never know.

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
Hard to asess cup games only 2 games im into might not bet though , as previous posts point out Ross co against a struggling Thistle. The other game would to do something in the Morton Killie match, talking to a Morton fan today he fancies them to get a result , they have a new goalkeeper and seem to be better at the back now, killie wont get it easy.

Well i will be honest with everyone my team have been poor lately.
Were rubbish against Buckie outplayed by Rothes on saturday and now have to be at our best on saturday against a Elgin team who are getting better.
Noticed alot of posters have put us down for a home win, they must not have a clue about highland league football this season and must be putting us down for a home win because of the 3-2 win over moaning faces montrose.
Apart fae that i think we will shine on saturday and go through to the next round of the cup.
COME ON YOU DEVERONVALLEY.
P.S How many Elgin City fans will make the journey ?
|
Im intestested in elgin
actually this elgin fan has it spot on for me and the possible introduction of nelson makes me more interested
Quote:
Cant wait for Saturday. Literally bouncing ahead of the game
Even with Vale's recent results, im not stupid enough to think that mean's we should be very confident ahead of this, i know how good a team Vale are, especially at home. Vale are going to give us a game and theres no doubt of that. Luckily, we've started winning games and playing alright since Irvine left.
The midfield was key against Buckie and it was where the game was won for us and its going to be a similar story on Saturday if we're going to get through. In Moffat and Docherty, we've found ourselve's the best central midfield partnership i've seen us have for a while, and if things dont go our way, we've got influential, fit again midfielder Adam Nelson to come off the bench.
I think we've got a brilliant chance to progress here but its not going to be easy by any means, we're going to need a performance from each player with the midfield and Martin Johnston being very key for us
|
this stenny fan dronm p & b sums it up to me-
Quote:
We will play Albion Rovers for the fourth time this season and I expect us to gain our fourth win over them if I'm being honest.
We finally look as though we are coming onto a bit of a game and if we can reproduce the performance against Berwick we should win handsomely. Albion will make it tough, as they usually do, but with McBride back in the side we should be a handful going forward. Hopefully with Tiger back in between the sticks he can give us a bit more steel at the back, which was lacking in Saturday's first half comedy show. Individual errors cost us dear against Berwick but I thought as a unit in the second half we looked solid as a rock.
|
just bad luck will be against us. whats the best Stenny price?

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
One line thoughts before I sort it all out tomorrow night:
06 Jan 15:00 Airdrie vs Motherwell 4/1 13/5 4/7 - as its a derby and the prices look ok prob one to give a miss.
06 Jan 15:00 Berwick vs Falkirk 7/1 7/2 3/10 - Falkirk playing well but I'd want atleast 1.5 on them here.
06 Jan 15:00 Celtic vs Dumbarton 1/33 7/1 40/1 - Not interested
06 Jan 15:00 Clyde vs Gretna 3/1 5/2 8/11 - Bit of unfinished business here after last season - prices look about right.
06 Jan 15:00 Cowdenbeath vs Brechin 6/4 12/5 11/8 - No clue.
06 Jan 15:00 Deveronvale vs Elgin 11/8 12/5 6/4 - Vale are struggling a little in the HL at the mo and if Elgin are bigger elsewhere I could be tempted.
06 Jan 15:00 Dundee vs Queen Of South 8/11 5/2 3/1 - Dundee on a good run...not sure tho
06 Jan 15:00 Hamilton vs Livingston 6/5 12/5 7/4 - Think we'll win this, even after 2 horrific results...its just what we do.
06 Jan 15:00 Morton vs Kilmarnock 3/1 5/2 8/11 - tricky tie for Killie but with the virus cleared up at Rugby Park ill take nearer evens if its about.
06 Jan 15:00 Ross County vs Partick 13/8 12/5 5/4 - plenty said about Partick problems.
06 Jan 15:00 St Johnstone vs Ayr 4/11 10/3 11/2 - Ayr always good in the cups and St J are a lay at anywhere below 1.50 IMO.
06 Jan 15:00 Stirling vs Inverness 7/2 13/5 8/13 - Inverness playing well despite not getting results so maybe a few decent prices about.
06 Jan 15:00 Stranraer vs Hearts 15/2 9/2 2/9 - Mmmm...not sure I like Hearts at that price.
07 Jan 15:00 Dundee Utd vs St Mirren 5/6 9/4 11/4 - would need to be above evens to look again at DU.
07 Jan 12:00 Dunfermline vs Rangers 13/2 3/1 4/11 - will wait to see what tomorrow brings at Ibrox first.

Re: Scottish Cup: 6/7th Jan
As bromsgrove says does anyone have the aberdeen v hibs price? they drew on tuesday (beanie correctly predicted the unders) and it was all hibs that game.
I can't believe Betfair still havent refunded my money from the east stiling v Stenhousemuir postponment from the 2nd january. Until i get that back in the account i aint looking at too much as im sick. Im away to put whatever i have available on Elgin. Funny enough there was £8 available to back at 2.66 and £8 is all ive got left so i took that. 2.50 now. Go on give me my money back betfair you fuds
