Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

Might have a dabble on the Mac lads at those odds , they have to be one of the form teams at present and must be looking forward to this one, Maurinhio cannot afford any more injuries and might rest a couple which might mean playing the lesser players like Schevchenko and SWR
I'm gonna have a fiver @ those odds just for the fun of it, in fact i might just plump for all the Northwest teams as they seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment in the lower leagues.

Man City @ 6/5 looks good to me also but no doubt they'll let me down as usual, loads to be going at amongst those fixtures and i'll be very surprised if this doesent become the biggest footy thread we've ever had.

Bristol Rovers v Hereford has the makings of a replay, as good game for under 2.5 as you going to get also imo.
Since being walloped 3-0 at Shrewsbury, Graham Turner has gone all defensive and the mighty whites havent conceded a goal in their last 4 games, theyve only scored 3 in that period themselves too including a goal less draw with Rovers on boxing day
I'll update later in the week with team news but i'm pretty certain i'll either be backing the draw or the under 2.5.

Am liking that shout kop, heard highlights of the Rovers game today and it seems they were lucky to squeeze past Torquay. The pitch played its part, our (City) pitch was fucked by one game of rugby the other day so I can only imagine the state of it at the mem.
will be interested to see how the price develops on the unders.

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

newcastle look a good price at 6-4 to beat my lot brum who are somehow top of the championship, for all their injuries the geordies should still possess too much flair in midfield and up front. brum somehow grind out results but any fan will tell you they have had alot of luck the last few months

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

Reluctant to back anything shorter than evens in this competition, but looking through for possible odds-against teams, first ones that stand out are Bristol City, Hull, Forest, Swansea, Brighton and Oldham. All dependent on team news, etc., obviously.

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

if sheff utd rest a load then swansea could be value,

wouldnt rule out oldhams chances at wolves the run that they are on

with the motivation and improvements that pardew has made if he plays his best side they should beat forest at odds against

man city at odds against could be interested in,they seem to be battling some scrappy away wins at last

cant get away from newcastles price at brum,if the likes of parker, dyer, emre, millner, martins, sibierski all play that looks a very good bet imo, especially if bruce rests a few as he did in the carling cup

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

My initial thoughts are the following:-

Crystal Palace, Derby, Reading, Watford and West Ham in a chunky accumulator.

All at home and all playing lower division sides.

Watford & West Ham are the only slight drawbacks as they are playing rubbish this season. Perhaps it is time for Tevez to score his first goal for the Hammers.

Cheers

Andy

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

I'll play Spurs @ 4/6 v Cardiff. Cardiff no wins in 9 and Spurs will take this seriously, their Carling Cup semi is postponed so that's only one game in 2 weeks for them. I'd expect Mido in for Berbatov and probably a re-shuffle in midfield, Davids & Ziegler to get a game.
All in all far too strong for a Cardiff with no real quality.

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

[quote=bromsgrovegreen]if sheff utd rest a load then swansea could be value,

Swansea have big problems for trip to Sheff U :

Trundle suspended leaving the cumbersome partnership of Fallon and Akinfenwa up front.

In centre midfield regular pairing captain Darren Pratley is out injured and Ian Craney is cup-tied.

Left sided midfielder Andy Robinson is very doubtful with a back injury.

The bulk of the team's creativity will therefore be missing and with uninspiring replacements its hard to envisage Swansea scoring. Defensively they're unreliable too with a poor goals against record away from home - 3 conceded in final 25 mins at Huddersfield last weekend for example.

Although Swansea's odds are attractive, an away win is not on the cards even against a Sheff U team with players rested.

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

Cheers for that, Coolman, I'll cross Swansea off my short list.

Bromsgrove, I'm not convinced Charlton will beat Forest, regardless of the side they put out, but in any case I wouldn't be surprised if they rested a few players, their priority surely has to be the league. Bent is out injured for 4 weeks too.

Re: FA Cup 5-7th Jan

Pardew's recent pedigree in the competition coupled with an underserved whuppin last night suggests to me that we will see a determined effort by Charlton '85. Will Forest's red carded players (v Oldham) be available? If not, this can only add to their recent squad woes. 6/5 looks appealing.
Or even...the 1.95 AH 0 ball.
