Watford are set to sign Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson from Rotherham United for a combined fee of £1.2m, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.
The two players are expected to put the finishing touches to their deals at Vicarage Road on Friday.

Hoskins, a 20-year-old striker, has already scored 16 goals for the Millers this season.

Midfielder Williamson, 24, made over 50 appearances for Rotherham and has found the net six times this season.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumour Mill

Luis Boa Morte for £5million to West Ham - madness! Sure he isnt a bad played like but never have I rated him as a £5million player. Jesus Christ.

Whats the crack with this Ashley Young chap anyway? Never thought he was much kop, but apparently Spurs have made a bid for him and liverpool are said to be tabling around £5.5 million for the lad. Cant say he has ever stood out from the crowd for Watford this year, then again - who has.

Oh and I see Fifa are doing their best to disrupt our move for Mascherano. Their utterly pointless ruling that states a player can't play for more than 2 clubs in a season could stop us buying Jav. Cant see what that ruling is in place for or what purpose it serves. Then again, thats Fifa all over really isnt it....

Is Ashley Young the boy upfront for Watford AFU?

If so then that price is laughable. Everytie i see him his finishing is absolutely terrible and he is no more than a Championship player at best imo. Thats if ihave got the right player here of course

The other interesting one for me is another Yank set to join the ranks at Fulham - Clint Dempsey this time. If that goes through, and Fulham get a few of the injured players back - we could see a midfield trio of Diop, Bullard and Dempsey in a formation that Coleman has toyed with before. Dempsey will fit into the English leagues very well - very high energy, solid in the tackle - good player.
It wouldnt surprise me if it is Newcastle after John to be honest. They are VERY short of strikers with Owen ad Ameobi out long term leaving them with just Martins.

Dyer playing there too and he is hardly a player who can sustain the remainder of the season without being injured so John would be a decent cheap option.

Just postedmy thoughts on how good a player Dempsey will be in the Talk Sports forum too.

Yeah i seen a pic of him yesterday while travelling down on bus to Dundee. He wasn't the one i was thinking of as the guy upfront ive seen for them is white so big difference

I know which guy he is now and i quite like him actually.Tricky winger more than a striker and causes full backs nightmare. His final ball leaves a lot to be desired though but still young so can always work on that.

Yeah it is. Just been reading his stats...

Played 20 games (4 as a sub) and he has scored 0 goals. In those 20 appearences he has featured Watford have won only 1 game

Now i think we see where there is a HUGE problem down at Vicarage Road.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumour Mill

He's ex-Gills. He wasn't particularly highly rated with us, didn't do that well in his first half-season, but then we loaned him to Swindon at the start of the following season, he scored 5 in 6 games for them, and then scored 9 for us once we got him back that season. I couldn't believe it when Watford gave us 450k for him. He looked reasonably useful for us in the Championship, but there's no way on earth he's a Premier League player (well, he IS a Premier League player, obviously, but there's no way he should be ). League One or lower Championship is probably his more natural level, although to be fair he did hit 15 goals in Watford's promotion campaign last year.

Threw his toys out of the pram when a few fans didn't recognise him at the player of the year ceremony in his first half-season with us

Shame for Watford that Marlon King got injured, he's also ex-Gills and I think he has got what it takes to make it in the Premier League.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumour Mill

ARSENAL
What they need?
Goalkeeper, cover at left-back... and some experience.

How much have they got to spend?
Arsenal keep their financial cards close to their chest and manager Arsene Wenger has already stressed he will not be buying anyone in January. But last winter he brought in four players, including Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor, so don't be surprised if they pounce for some fresh faces.

Who have they been linked with?
Nigel Reo-Coker, Ashley Young, Gareth Bale, Craig Gordon, Leighton Baines, Glen Johnson, Haten Trabelsi, Gokhan Zan, Marauis Alexi, Lucian Filip.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I'm still hoping that we can put all our funds towards getting Buffon."
One_Gus

ASTON VILLA
What they need?
Experience, strength in depth, goalkeeper cover.

What have they got to spend?
Millions. This will be boss Martin O'Neill's first chance to dip into chairman Randy Lerner's funds.

Who have they been linked with?
More like who haven't they been linked with? Here goes: Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, James Milner, Matthew Upson, Curtis Davies, Darren Bent, Andy Griffin, Matt Murray, Joey Barton, Darren Bent, Zoltan Gera, Richard Stearman, Phil Bardsley, David Nugent, Garry O'Connor, Neil Eardley, Markus Katzer, Lucas Neill, Shaun Maloney and Bobo Balde.

Who do you want them to buy?
"David Villa, great player with a great name!"
Macca-No5-avfc

BLACKBURN
What they need?
A right-back, with Lucas Neill likely to go to Liverpool, defensive cover and a midfielder.

What have they got to spend?
Mark Hughes will have a few million for the right player or players, plus the money from Neill - if he departs.

Who have they been linked with?
David Dunn, Teddy Sheringham, Andriy Nesmachnyi, Michael Ball, Stephen Warnock, David Beckham, Yiannakis Okkas, Amr Zaki, Jason Koumas, Tomas Sivok.

Who do you want them to buy?
"The players I've heard about are David Dunn and Matty Upson, David Vaughan (Crewe) and Montella (Roma)."
Stevo-Evs

BOLTON
What they need?
Bolton have no desperate needs but with European football the aim they could use some cover for midfield and up front.

What have they got to spend?
Money is available for manager Sam Allardyce but after spending big for Bolton in the summer he may opt to try to bring some loan signings in.

Who have they been linked with?
David Beckham, Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano, James Beattie, Aldo Duscher, Branco Ilic, Jamie McCarthy, Ben Watson, Giles Barnes, Bernard Mendy, Michael Mifsud.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Mrs Beckham might just be lured by the high quality fish market Bolton has and Carrs Pasties."
Nowtbutthewhites

CHARLTON
What they need?
A miracle-worker? New manager Alan Pardew's biggest task will be to keep hold of striker Darren Bent, while trying to boost their strikeforce and the back line.

What have they got to spend?
Former boss Iain Dowie's summer spending spree means there is little left in the Charlton coffers but the club will give Pardew about £3m and ask him to wheel and deal his way to safety.

Who have they been linked with?
Hayden Mullins, Marlon Harewood, Bobby Zamora, Steve Pressley, Zheng Zhi, Emile Heskey, Julian de Guzman, James Milner, Steve Finnan, Carlos Edwards, Freddy Eastwood, Ray Jones, Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson

Who do you want them to buy?
"What about a gamble on some youngsters like Eastwood, David Nugent?"
tommygunn76

CHELSEA
What they need?
A right-back and some cover for central defence.

What have they got to spend?
Whatever it takes.

Who have they been linked with?
Micah Richards, Tal Ben Haim, Alexander Pato, Fernando Higuain, David Villa, Fernando Torres, Matthew Upson, Daniel Alves, Miguel.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Talk of swapping SWP for Micah Richards. This seems to make a lot of sense to me."
SUPERPATNEVIN

EVERTON
What they need?
Right-back and potentially a powerful central midfield figure. The striker department will only need strengthening if James Beattie is sold.

What have they got to spend?
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright told the club's AGM that money would be found for manager David Moyes in the January transfer window but big deals will only be done if there is a major outgoing such as Beattie or Simon Davies, who has been linked with Fulham. Moyes is also notoriously reluctant to buy players in January, preferring to wait until the close season.

Who have they been linked with?
Nigel Reo-Coker, Danny Murphy, Alan Smith, Lars Jacobsen, Kevin Nolan, David Nugent.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I'd like to see us strengthen at full-back. We also need another young centre-half, DM and wide player but I guess that'll have to wait until the summer."
Top_Balcony_Blue

FULHAM
What they need?
A striker, some midfield cover and a central defender.

What have they got to spend?
It will be more bargain buckets than Harrods hampers for boss Chris Coleman.

Who have they been linked with?
Vincenzo Montella, Danny Murphy, Titus Bramble, Simon Davies, Ray Jones, Shaun Maloney, Mika Vayrynen, Clint Dempsey, Patrick Kosnorbo.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I'd like to go for Robbie Keane but am not sure Spurs would sell him. I'd also bid for Danny Gabbidon - £2m might get him"
corky_le_chat

LIVERPOOL
What they need?
A striker who can finish on a consistent and clinical basis, a winger and a versatile defender.

What have they got to spend?
They could get a cash injection if the takeover by Dubai International Capital takes place before the transfer window shuts. Otherwise, the pot is about £5m to £10m - unless the Reds sell to pad out their limited wallet.

Who have they been linked with?
Peter Crouch being sold to herald the arrival of Valencia striker David Villa is a nice notion but appears unlikely as both teams are still in the Champions League and he may be out of the club's price range. Blackburn right-back/central defender Lucas Neill is the most likely signing.

Who do you want them to buy?
"David Villa would a great signing for us but I would hate to see Peter Crouch go somewhere else."
poshMAN_OF_LFC

MANCHESTER CITY
What they need?
A striker - desperately - and a creative midfielder.

What have they got to spend?
All the talk has been about who will leave City with key trio Micah Richards, Sylvain Distin and Joey Barton all linked to big-money moves away from Eastlands. Boss Stuart Pearce has no financial need to sell but with ongoing takeover talks yet to be concluded he has little cash to bring in reinforcements either - but a striker is top of his list.

Who have they been linked with?
Shaun Wright-Phillips, Olivier Thomert, Billy Sharp, Greg Halford, Alfonso Alves, Ivan Klasnic, Robert Koren.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Distin for SWP... good deal for both parties at present!"
12barblue(s)

MANCHESTER UNITED
What they need?
Henrik Larsson's arrival is already secured, so a central midfielder will be top of the wish list.

What have they got to spend?
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson will get the board's backing for the right player, with Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves the number one target.

Who have they been linked with?
Owen Hargreaves, Gareth Bale, Antonio Puerta, Fernando Torres, Jermain Defoe, Nigel Reo-Coker, Antonio Rio Mavuba, Jamie McCarthy.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Rafael Van der Vaart - top class player who should have been signed two years ago, replacement for Paul Scholes when he needs resting."
ManU_no1

MIDDLESBROUGH
What they need?
Some inspiration. A midfielder and a striker for starters.

What have they got to spend?
Money has rarely been a problem for Boro, even if chairman Steve Gibson has reined in the spending in recent years. The biggest problem has been attracting the sort of quality the team requires. A permanent move for Jonathan Woodgate, who is on loan from Real Madrid, is also high on the list.

Who have they been linked with?
Jeremy Aliadiere, Craig Gordon, Joey Barton, David Nugent, Giles Barnes, Martin Lejsal.

Who do you want them to buy?
"If SWP is going to be allowed to leave Chelsea for less than half of the £21m they paid SURELY, SURELY we can put a bid in?"
Smog Is In The Air

NEWCASTLE
What they need?
Right-back, left-back, centre-back, striker. Judging by the injury crisis, maybe an entire new squad.

What have they got to spend?
Tough to tell. Figures of £12m have been bandied about for Peter Crouch, so that suggests the club have money to burn, although fans will be hoping the spending is sensible. Manager Glenn Roeder seems to be favouring players from the lower leagues, with Southampton's Gareth Bale and Derby's Giles Barnes mentioned by him recently.

Who have they been linked with?
Gareth Bale, Giles Barnes, Peter Crouch, Joey Barton, Stephen Warnock, Tal Ben Haim, Wayne Bridge, David Nugent, Matthew Upson, Shaun Wright-Phillips

Who do you want them to buy?
"Leighton Baines would make a great left-back and Bobby Zamora a perfect fit as a striker."
bert_sol

PORTSMOUTH
What they need?
Defenders, striker.

What have they got to spend?
With mini-Abramovich at the helm, a lot.

Who have they been linked with?
Jermain Defoe, David Nugent, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Matthew Upson, Stephen Appiah, Michael Ball.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I think boss Harry Redknapp wanted to sign Sylvain Distin from Man City in August and will probably try again in January."
devonFRATTONiser

READING
What they need?
Central defender, central midfielder, striker, full-back cover.

What have they got to spend?
Chairman John Madejski has millions at his disposal but is notoriously shrewd. He did make around £6m available in the summer and, with Steve Coppell struggling to persuade anyone to take the cash, will probably make that pot available again.

Who have they been linked with?
John Mensah, Matthew Upson, Tom Soares, David Nugent.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I've heard a rumour that Freddy Adu may be joining Reading on loan in January."
URRZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

SHEFFIELD UNITED
What they need?
A striker, a midfielder and a left-back.

What have they got to spend?
The board have earmarked £5m for Neil Warnock to spend, while the Blades boss has also said a number of players will be heading out of the exit door.

Who have they been linked with?
Alan Smith, Ray Jones, Greg Halford, David Nugent, Luton Shelton, David Healy, Andreas Granqvist, Ahmed Fathi, Goran Gavrancic, Michael Mifsud, Amr Zaki, Ibrahim Said, Matthew Kilgallon

Who do you want them to buy?
"I think Nugent would be a great signing for us but we should not spend too much on him."
blade_tim

TOTTENHAM
What they need?
Centre-back, left-back and left-sided midfield player.

What have they got to spend?
Spurs do not generally struggle for funds and could raise cash by selling Danny Murphy to Fulham and offloading Edgar Davids from the payroll. Boss Martin Jol could easily sell Jermain Defoe, possibly to Man Utd, Liverpool, Aston Villa or Chelsea, but he insists he will not.

Who have they been linked with?
Matthew Upson, Curtis Davies, Gareth Bale, Adil Chihi, David Beckham, Adel Taarabt, Stefan Maierhofer, Olivier Thomert, Preston Edwards, Joe Cole.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I'd add Wayne Bridge to the wish list but I'd settle for Baines or Bale."
mircovich

WATFORD
What they need?
A striker or two. A midfielder. Oh, and a defender.

What have they got to spend?
Not enough to fulfil their needs but enough for a new face or two.

Who have they been linked with?
Will Hoskins, Billy Sharp, Carlton Cole, Carl Cort, David Healy.

Who do you want them to buy?
"Wonder if Sir Alex would loan us Alan Smith or a couple of youngsters looking to prove themselves."
cyaninternetdog

WEST HAM
What they need?
Quite a lot, to be fair. Centre-back, right-back, central midfielder and a 10-goal striker.

What have they got to spend?
Almost certainly more than the others in the drop zone, thanks to new Icelandic chairman Eggert Magnusson and his wealthy backer Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson. "He will get the money he needs," said Magnusson of Alan Curbishley upon his appointment as manager on 13 December.

Who have they been linked with?
Mark Viduka, Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Darren Bent, Luke Young, David Beckham, Preston Edwards.

Who do you want them to buy?
"SWP and Luke Young would be realistic targets, West Ham also need a clear-out as they have a lot of players."
flyingbluebird

WIGAN
What they need?
Strength in depth, otherwise injuries and suspensions will continue to cost them. Maybe a striker as the top scorer only has six.

What have they got to spend?
Difficult to say. Spent £13m on Heskey, Landzaat, Boyce, Kilbane and Cotterill in the summer but chairman Dave Whelan may be persuaded to dip into his personal fortune once again to avoid a potentially-disastrous relegation battle. To be fair to Whelan, they entered the Scandinavian market to get Kristofer Haestad and Andreas Granqvist before the transfer window had even opened.

Who have they been linked with?
Nathan Ellington, Roy O'Donovan, Ray Jones, Darren Purse, Seydou Keita, Garry O'Connor, Shaun Maloney, Scott Brown, Kevin Thompson.

Who do you want them to buy?
"I'd welcome Ellington back as he seems to have been targeted for January. Apparently he's having a house built in Wigan as well."
