Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

Danq, Milners, Edin and myself. the only 4 Scottish div 1-2-3 punters on the daily punt. It's a low point for the weekly threads ive been involved with over the years i must say and i do take part the blame. Gone are the days off 100+ replies. Its even shitier than the cc div 1 thread and thats always shit

Its hard when there isnt much to talk about really. Lean times. The Scottish 1-2-3 thread: The Barren Months

Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

Im gonna back montrose tomorrow. Call me mad but ive just got a wee fancy for them. Bah just noticed theyve lost the last 7 games at East fife I just liked the way they went one up before half time last time they met and then came out and dominated the 2nd half it would seem. Theres a lot happening at Montrose wityh 4 new signings so it throws a bit of unpredictability on the game, Sod it im for 1pt on Montrose out of curiosity more than anything.

What am i backing tomorrow? Let me think and make up a shortlist

Gretna over 2.5 @ about 1.50 or similar
Montrose at 15/4
raith 2.30

and thats about it. A pretty short short list really. I remember the days when i would have a double figure short list

Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

komp i know this might seem an annoying question and it probably is, but why the hell do you go on about montrose every week? they actually are sh1te no matter what team they put on the park, all these loan and free transfer signings they bring in are there for a reason, they arent good enough. at most maybe 1 or 2 of the 13 signings theyve made this season are likely to prove good enough for the top end of this league. the only time ive sen them play this season (v dumbarton... yes ive been to two dumbarton games this year ) they had alot of the ball but werent very good with it, tended to loft it off for throw ins all the time when playing at the back.

ive actually seen gibson and mercer in the past couple of season and neither of them impressed me that much, gibson did score a good goal against inverurie in a local cup game the second time i saw him but he was still sh1t. the others i couldnt comment on..

think this montrose thing you have might be like my old stirling 'thing', used to constantly look for their games until they lost me about 6 bets in a row last season. not saying theyll get humped tomorrow, or they wont win, just think theyre never overpriced home or away

I like your style AnothrSpacecat.

Komp - Montrose are shite, and i don't just say that coz i support Arbroath... it's coz it's true!

To be honest, East Fife are coming back to their normal form, after their lucky start to the season. Showing their true mid-table form over the past few games. But, Montrose are just as bad, so East Fife should scrape a win in this poor affair

I dont Spacecat and have maybe backed them twice max all season. I didnt even back them last week even though i aired my views that i think they'll be too good for Deveronvale whom everyone else on the net seemed to fancy. They should have won that game and all you Deveronvale backers were lucky sods to get a return. You won but you got lucky. Fair play to you all. I do think they are over priced today and will stick my neck out and say we shall just have to wait and see what happens come 10 to 5 today. If im left with egg on my face then so be it but im pretty confident i wont be. They'll make East Fife look like the worst 4/9 shot of the day i reckon.

These loan signings etc don't have to be too good to play in the scottish 3rd division and with a full team out on there day they could beat anyone in this league imo. Higgins is a big loss to them at the back. Much thoough i dislike Robertson as a manager etc i think Montrose will get their act together sometime. East Fife is never an easy place to go. I'll prob sit this one out as mentioned they are just on my short list but i wouldnt recommend East Fife to anyone at the odds.

I like a man with opinions Spacecat and it's good to see them being shared. What does everyone else fancy today? Looks like it could just be a Raith tw and Gretna over 2.5 double for me

Hi
I am still interested in Arbroath. I can remember few mounths ago how popular this bet was and how many bettors fall on this one. But so is mostly on public bets in lower ligas.
This time nobody cares and thats maybe good.
I am not into this liga, but from You folks I get it, that Arbroath is solid and Albion aint.
Enyone elce fancy Arbroath?

Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

I think Albion Rovers have scored in every game theyve played this season barr one Johnny so imo Arbroath are gonna at least have to get 2. Albion have improved their home record this season at home and Cliftonhill their stadium is well known for being a shithole with a shite pitch which was last reportedly not far off the state of Albion rovers's pitch.

I actually forget how Arbroath done in the cup last week and maybe i should check that before i go any further but from what i can remember they seemed to be an improved side. Actually it was Albion wasnt it

edin above-

Quote:
They've been a bit of a bogey team this season, managing to scrape 2 wins against us (1 on penalties). Saturday was a lot better, Arbroath looking like getting back to somewhere near their best, 1st half especially. Albion's defence a bit shaky, with their star man Lennon playing out of position on the right, and getting regularly skinned by our left winger Stein
Also somewthig on p&b about the game at albion rovers last week
http://www.pieandbovril.co.uk/forum/...hp?t48692.html

previous to that they got beat at home by East Stirling but i suppose it wasnt all bad for them according to arbroath fans reports

Quote:
After a dreadful first half where we managed to grab a goal from (a perhaps offside?) Sellers to go in 1 up, we proceeded to create numerous chances in the second with no one putting them away through a mixture of poor finishing, one or two good saves or countless players missing the ball altogether when decent low crosses were drilled into the 6 yard area. Then the inevitable happened.......

No real surprise when Shire punished us for not killing the game by equalising but I don't think many saw the 90th minute own goal coming. I literaly didn't see it as I briefly turned away when the goal kick was taken only to turn back to see the Shire celebrating and many of the Lichtie faithful using colourful language. I've heard that Peat was arguably more at fault than Bishop but would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me. That was that and we can probably kiss goodbye to our title aspirations.

Although we created far more clear cut chances you cant really begrudge the Shire all 3 points as our lack of cutting edge up front was shocking and they dug in well and had a fair few chances themselves.

Our home form is frankly pitiful and McGlashan has got to stop playing players out of position because at the moment this isn't good enough.

east stirling fan on the same thread-

What an unexpected pleasure today was! We knew Arbroath would be tough to play against as they have a definite physical edge on us and despite a closely fought 1st half we conceded the opener and I worried that we would crumble under a tide of Arbroath attacks. Despite some ropey moments and a fair bit of pressure, that didn`t happen - we battled hard and I`m proud of the boy`s determination to tough it out today, Arbroath simply had one of those days where things just didn`t click up front (I know the feeling so well!). After Dymock got the equaliser I would have settled for a hard won point but then something incredible happened - we actually got a big `break`!
as mentioned Albions manager has been tinkering with the defence and im sure its mentioned he's for some tactical changes today. Maybe he's going back to the old way with Lennon their best player back in the centre of deffence. This and me thinking that familiarity can sometimes make teams cancel each other out a bit its enough ALMOST to put me off taking the over 2.5 at 1.73 with bet365. As mentioned albion ar always worth a goal and if arbroath can start taking their chances then thats the bet to be on for me. I couldnt say who is gonna win it though sorry.

Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

good luck Johnny. A 2-1 win for Arbroath will suit me fine too. Just had a wee button press there on the under/overs goal market at bet365

1 25/11/2006 Albion v Arbroath
(Goal Line) Over 2.5
1.73
2 25/11/2006 East Fife v Montrose
(Goal Line) Under 2.5
2.12
3 25/11/2006 Gretna v Partick
(Goal Line) Over 2.5
1.59
4 25/11/2006 St Johnstone v Livingston
(Goal Line) Under 2.5
1.85

Albion/arbroath as mentioned. East Fife/Montrose again just a feeling that this will be a dour one with both teams a bit to lose and ...bah i dont know i just fancy it being a low scoring affair. Ive not even looked at the stats and recent scores etc. Lemme look to see if it gives any peace of mind....no they give me no comfort at all. East Fife wont be giving much away mind. Thinking about it East Fife will have a few back and Montrose could have 4 new players. I can't work out how i think thats gonna affect the game truth be told. east Fife will probably be 2 up at half time and go on to win 3-0 now i think of it

Gretna Partick im pretty confident about but again it could just as easily finish 2-0 for Gretna. Roberts of Partick i think will be worth a goal today as he seems to like going places and scoring goals. A hattrick at home the other week so i suppose he just likes scoring goals. I banked on him having a pishy game on Wed night. shit i havent even read up on them 2 games as i was so sickened. Im all over the place. I went to the social thursday as my giro hadnt turned up. I was told that the reason why it hadnt turned up was due to it not being due till next week thats how messed up my life is. Would you take a football tip from this man?

Actually thinking about it no-one does. No-one is ever on what im on on the Place Your Bets thread come to think of it

St J livi i can just see playing out a 1-1 draw or similar but again its nothing to rely on or go daft about.

3 trebles and a 4-fold

Re: Scots 1-2-3 & Tennants Cup 25th Nov

Raith for me this week i think. With mcmanus back and the new manager and the influence of andrews since joining, moore out for stranraer all makes me to feel pretty confident on the home. Best priced now 13/10 with Corals

Im gonna double it with goals in the gretna game. A accy bet is only as strong as it's weakest link and i'm pretty sure there is gonna be goals in that one.

good luck chaps
