Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

I'm not yet worried about my pre-season lay of Swindon despite the fact they have maximum points from their first 2 games.
However, they have ridden their luck and I was hopeful of the small bet I had on 5-1 shots Barnet when they led at H/T on tues.
Again the bookies are giving tempting odds to back against swindon but unfortunately there opposition on Saturday has started the season in piss-poor form summed up by their manager:
Rochdale manager Steve Parkin summed up Tuesday nights defeat against Torquay in much the same way as the weekend loss to Walsall - We tried our best but it wasn't good enough.

His side did deserve something from the game of that there can be no doubt about, but the form of his strikers having failed to score in either of their opening two games is causing him a little concern.

"If we're going to pick points up we've got to start hitting the back of the net," said Parkin. "We certainly can't complain about the chances we had throughout the game and It's really disappointing for the players and for the supporters who've travelled down to watch us.

"The players gave me everything they've got again but we've got no points to show for it. I don't think we deserved to be travelling back up the motorway with nothing. If you get beat and you deserve it fine, sometimes you just have to hold your hands up but I don't think that was the case against Torquay. The reaction in the dressing room is one of despondency but we've just got to pick ourselves up and prepare in the right way for another long trip to Swindon on Saturday. "

So is doesnt look like Rochdale are going to provide the big odds win against swindon but their time will come.

Heard highlights of the b rovers game against Wycombe on tuesday and they seemed very nervy, with the fans not really helping the issue. I don't rate their manager but Grimsby havent started the season too well so it looks like another no bet for the weekend

Will be looking at the coupon further but there must be some bets to be had in this division!

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

Barnet look as though they have been extremely umlucky so far this season, losing the first game in the last minute of extra time and then bravely going down to swindon via two 30 yarders.

any value away to accrington stanley who are they.... exactly?

according to this Accringhton were desperately unlucky against pre-season promotion favourites Darlington on Tuesday.

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

i'd be interested in Grimsby. Werent they a better away team last week and prone to getting an early goal and just sitting on it and grinding out a narrow win?

I was reading Shrewsbury have lost a couple of players.

mansfield v stockport stinks of goals to me.

Tysonless Wycombe to continue last season's away form?

what was the walsall v hartlepool reports like from last season?

well, as you point out Komp, it was a local paper!

match stats from the Brentford site seem to disagree somewhat!

Accrington Stanley Darlington

Possession : 48% 52%
Shots On Target : 1 10
Shots Off Target : 5 7

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

Bristol Rovers v Grimsby

From BBC

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope is likely to make big changes, after his team lost both of their opening games in League Two.
However, the only unavailable squad member is Robbie Ryan, who has been out since November with an ankle injury.

Grimsby Town boss Graham Rodger is also expected to make changes, after his side lost 3-0 to Wrexham on Tuesday.

Like Rovers, Town have only one absentee in striker Gary Cohen, who recently underwent knee surgery.
------------------------------------------------------------

Bristol Rovers are having a nightmare start of the new season, losing both of their openning fixtures against Peterboro / away / and Wycombe / home /. Tipped as a promotion contender again the Rovers started in the worst possible manner and must pick up fast before its too late. The game against Grimsby is crucial. It may still be too early in the season, but this game is a must win for the Pirates as they need to bounce back as quick as possible.
Grimsby changed to worse IMO during the summer, losing their manager and some players too. And I definetely rate them lower than last year. On the opening day The mariners were 2 goals behind at home only to make an amazing turn back and win the game with Boston 3-2. Tuesday night they had a trip to Wrexham and lost heavily 3-0. The defense is their main problem so far, letting 5 goals in 2 games and underperforming big time in their both games.
Bristol are having huge defensive probles too, so I think there may be some goals in this game. Manager Trollope was furious with the way Bristol played and declared that anyone who lacks concentration and isnt giving 100% of him in the next few games will not be given another chance.
The attack is underperforming as well and their main weapon Agogo should find his way back to scoring for the game with Grimsby. Transfer target for several club he was kept at Bristol only because they desperately need his goals to fight for a play off position. So I think he will be fired up for this one.

Grimsby manager is expected to do some changes in the team for this game after the terrible game at Wrexham. They still have a pretty strong squad, but its obvious that are still long way from hiiting form. Same goes for Bristol Rovers. So in a game with 2 teams in bad shape I will go for the Rovers. They surely posses the venom in attack to hurt the shaky Grimsby defense and judging by their own defensive problems they will have simply to outscore them and will win this game. And I think they will do. They won their last 2 games with Grimsby / 1 league and 1 cup /, so its not mission impossible. Grimsby had a great away record last year, but IMO this will not be the case this season. And we saw the signs of it in the game at Wrexham.

Small stakes only as that game has nothing to do with the so called “sure wins”.

Bristol Rovers 4/10 @2.45 BET1128, 2.30 - average price at the mo and seems OK to me

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bury v Shrewsbury

From BBC

Matthew Tipton is Bury manager Chris Casper's only injury concern. The striker is out with a groin strain, and will be unavailable for several weeks.
Casper is likely to make changes after the 3-1 defeat by Chester on Tuesday.

Shrewsbury's Stuart Drummond twisted his ankle in their 1-1 draw at Notts County on Tuesday, and Andy Cooke is injured with a broken toe.

Steve Hogg only recently resumed training, and so will not be ready. Glynn Hurst (Achilles) is also out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bury is another team with a bad start, which catches my attention. Starting with 2 losses now they have the chance to earn their first points this season with another home fixture. They were unlucky enough to lose away at MK Dons in a game they dominated being with a man more at the pitch after Dons goalie was sent off early in the game. Had numerous chances to score but the new striker partnership in the faces of Andy Bishop and Pittman, who is on loan from Forest, failed to work in that game. Now with 2 games behind them I expect Bury attack finally to start scoring. Bishop netted 24 goals last season in the Conference and Pittman surely has the pace and speed. He even scored his first goal last game, so this might be the beginning of an exciting partnership in attack.
Shrewsbury started with 2 draws away at Notts Co and home to Mansfield. They were rather poor travellers last season and depended much on their home form. Bury didn’t lose in their last 4 games with Shrewsbury, winning 2 of them. Shrews didn’t even score a goal in their last 3 games with Bury so we can fully agree that Bury are a bogey team in recent few years.
Still Shrewsbury is not a bad team and I am a bit afraid of their new signing in attack – Asamoah, but IMO Bury having a good attack will sonn start converting chances into goals and hopefully they can do it this Saturday. Not impressed with Shrewsbury so far so perhaps it’s the right moment for Bury to win their first game this season.
Small bet again as it will not be that easy for Bury, but IMO they have all the chances to win this game.

Bury 4/10 @ 2.50 BET1128, 2.40 average price, OK for me

---------------------------------------------------------------------

both games are tricky, but I am ready to take this risk as both teams are underperforming at the moment and could only improve. Those, who prefer not to risk better not take these bets

We were unlucky on tuesday though I'm not sure I'd call their first goal a 30 yarder, according to Swindon fans it was a mishit cross and according to me our goalkeeper screwed up royally. I'd view our game at Accy on saturday as one that's tough to call. What puts me off a bit is our H2H record at Accrington is nothing short of abysmal with 2-0 and 4-1 defeats (the latter in a match we had 71% possession in).

To be honest I've not read reports of Accy's games so won't comment too much on them though they do seem to have met two opponents who are bang in form.

Our defence is solid and if we can nick a goal we could well shut them out but I'm still not overly convinced about our scoring abilities. Really not sure where the bookies have got that 4.2 from for us though as I'd have this down as a fairly even match with an edge to Accy but only because of home advantage and H2H's.

Team news for Barnet: new signings Nicky Nicolau and Barry Cogan are expected to start which in Nicolau's case will improve the team (must admit I know nothing about Cogan though) in both an attacking and defensive capacity.

Hope that's of some use.

Those are two brave selections zzax good luck with those. Will come back with some research tomorrow hopefully as I'm off out on the beers now, but I'm favouring Wycombe and Mansfield at the moment. If anyone can sneak evens on Mansfield somewhere like betfair I think that'd be more than decent value, could be interested in ex-Stockport player Hamshaw returning to haunt his old club.

Swindon are nailed on to beat Rochdale.

Rickie Lambert is out of tomorrow's game.

I will definetely have a look on Swindon now. Didnt want to take them for this price as IMO they were quite lucky to start with 2 wins out of 2, but Lambert surely is a huge blow for a thin squad as Rochdales.

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

I quite like the look of Wycombe to win at Notts County tomorrow. Wycombe have no new injury concerns, with Stonebridge the only player missing for them (having already missed the opening 2 games). Notts County will be giving fitness tests to Jason Lee and Ian Ross tomorrow.

Wycombe have made a decent start to the season, with 4 points from their first two games, and it's interesting to note they've not lost in their last 6 visits to Notts County, winning 4 and drawing 2. Notts County meanwhile have started off with 2 draws, something they certainly seem to get a lot of - they've not won at home since January now, but of the 11 games played since then, they've drawn 8 and lost 3.

Obviously given Notts County's draw addiction, the draw is a risk, but I'll go for Wycombe (DNB) at 2.05.

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

Just Chester +1 Asian for me. (1.62 betfred)

Hereford have only shown glimpses of abilty in their opening two games and still have keeper Wayne Brown ( ) out. He's a big loss though Beckwith could be back, which is a plus.

Chester have been playing well and have some good players in Ravenhill, Walters, Blundell, Broughton and ex Swan Martinez. Mark Wright likes to boast a good defence and has only conceded one in the opening two games with five goals scored. A goal advantage may not be needed but i'll play it for the draw too.

Good info there RC. For me Ross is County's best player and comfortably their best summer signing.

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

I know that it will still be several weeks before form will mean anything and Darlingtons victims so far are both likely to finish in the bottom half of the table but I've decided to stick with them after they did me a favour during the week.

I like the 7/4 with Betfred for them to win at Boston today.
