I take it you're refering to MK Dons game against Mansfield. I think you do Mansfield a dis-service as Mansfield IMO have the potential to make the playoffs and shock alot of teams this season. They have a young squad that has been improved upon and in Ritchie Barker they have one of the top players in the division. It didn't really surprse or concern me (considering I'd backed them on the ante-post) too much that MK lost because I can see many of the top teams doing so.

With Brentford I don't think the players he had available to him were good enough to be honest especially when you compared them with the quality the promoted sides and sides like Bristol City, Forest, Huddersfield and Swansea had available to them. Barring DJ Campbell and Sam Sodje (both picked up by Allen from Non-league fora pittance) I can't think of any players he used that went on to play at a higher level. If the players you have aren't ultimately as good as the teams you're competing with I think you're always going to be prone to a slip up. For that reason I always found it hard to back Brentford but I don't think they had the potential to go any further than Allen took them.

I will always fondly remember at Barnet the mind games he used to play and win consistently against opposition managers.:loon
