Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

I cant believe the price on darlington, they've been superb thus far, im going on them again, esp against a team in slight injury crisis

I'm not sure you can have a "slight crisis" but I also backed them midweek and am on them again today. Betfred is now 6/4 but available at 8/5 on laddies and sportingodds

Gone with darlo too, seem a bit overpriced IMO, and Barnet who are also too big at 16/5 with Hills, but better prices are available.

Bournemouth and Northampton complete the big priced yankee.

what are MK Dons chances against Macclesfield? They seem to have an excellent striker McLeod by name but i have serious doubt in their manager's abilities. He did well enough in Brentford, still he's been an underagiever to my mind. What do you think?

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

bit of mistaken identity there!

Wycombe and County have only had 5 shots on target in their two games so far, I toyed with the unders but didnt fancy it in the end.

I don't as a rule pay any attention to stats or H2H's and that sort of thing but the sort of stat that you mention above THM does have a reasonable amount of appeal.

Is there a website where this information is collated for all teams?

If there is I havent found it!

presently trying to collate it myself from the official sites, but it a pain in the ass.

I used it quite a lot through the world cup and it can be a good indicator.

out of interest, what do you go on if not stats?!

I could write a book, honestly I could, but then just like Seen I'd have to call you all cunts for not buying it

No actually I could write it on the back of a postage stamp.

My key points

a). Don't think why a team might win, firstly work out why someone won't win and then decide if the opposition is good enough to take advantage.

b). Only recent form is important and don't forget that it is all relative

c). Price has to be wrong

d). A teams form for the better or worse usually alters by changes to the 11 men on the park. Therefore injury and suspensions are a vital tool especially to key men.

Simple

Please don't take this the wrong way because for me Martin Allen practically walks on water. In what way do you say he's been an underachiever? At Brentford he went there was given a relegation haunted squad and no money. Over one summer he turned them into promotion prospects and proved it was no fluke by challenging again. The profit he made on players like DJ Campbell is vital to a club like Brentford.

At Barnet he did exactly the same thing (though admittedly we weren't relegation fodder) by signing players who were rejecting higher league clubs to sign for my tinpot club. The players Allen signed were barring 2 the players who got us up from the conference, he laid the foundations, signed players with the right chrachter and gave them belief. During his time with us he also proved himself tactically better than other managers and someone who can get the best out of his squad.

I can't imagine why anyone would think he's underachieved. For me he's the best manager in L2 and there's not much I wouldn't give to have him back at Barnet.

Re: CC League Two: Saturday 12th Aug

he came close to promotion with brentford and never made it besides in crucial moments his team always collapsed and drew the maches they could've easily won. I think a lot is down to manager's ability to change the game, which in my humble opinion Allen couldn't do. I played Dons yesterday and won some cash, thanks God but th previous match is another illustration of instability his teams are prone to, far too often. They opened the score then conceded two quick goals closer to half time and second half MK Dons were toothless as far as i'm concerned. Semi-chances don't count.
