Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

Hiya there, lads!

I'm delighted to be here as a new boot.

Anyways, Killie v Dundee Utd really seem capable of crossing the 2.5 mark. I totally agree here with Crowie and am going for Over 2.5 in this match.

just listening to the radio preview on the killie game (see scots 1-2-3 thread for more info) Im expecting Jim Jefferies to make Killie start a bit better and i reckon we'll have the over 2.5 in by ht.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

well it didn't go the way we expected, m8 and it's more of a surprise to me. Obviously, Utd just shut up the shop fearing the consequences of an open football. Two draws in a row for Dundee Utd and three goalless draws today in Scotland, are they turning into a French style teams, i wonder?

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

Rangers -1.5 is at 2.10 and that looks a little overpriced to me. It may be a reaction to their inability to run up decent scorelines in their last two, beating Motherwell by one, and a draw with Du, but both those matches could have been cricket scores, and certainly regarding the United match it was more down to defenders being in the right place at the right time rather than poor finishing from the Rangers forwards. With Boyd back too they should take their chances a little better from now on.

Team news also looks good for Rangers(see below.)

However, the H2Hs show that Rangers haven't won by 2 at East End for 7 meetings. That does include far better Pars sides than this one, and far poorer Rangers sides than this(last season) so I think I'll sleep on it for now.

Quote:
Dunfermline Athletic will be without winger Freddie Daquin for the visit by Rangers with a fractured cheekbone.

Darren Young, Scott Thomson, Noel Whelan and Jim McIntyre are still out, while Mark Burchill, Phil McGuire and Greg Shields face late fitness tests.

But Andy Tod, who can play in defence of up front, returns from suspension. New Rangers loan signing from Manchester United Lee Martin could start wide on the left, but midfielder Barry Ferguson is still ruled out.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

God bless the H2Hs, yet again saved from a loser for about the 3rd time in 2 weeks.

I'd quite like to see an SPL system based purely on H2H stats...jtw1 does a H2H system on Goonersguide which turns a nice consistent profit and there certainly seems something in it which the bookies aren't giving enough attention.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

Great result for Falkirk yesterday. Rangers were poor today against a Dunfermline side that sat in and seldom looked troubled. Seems strange to me that Kris Boyd with his goals record isn't starting matches.

Three goalless draws in the SPL was strange too. Slow start right enough Beanie.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

These matches might just confirm how well Falkirk have started this season. Of course a point at Tynecastle and 2 wins would probably suggest that on its own, but also Dunfermline really caught my eye against Hearts(hence backing them against Falkirk) and as you mention didn't seem too bothered by Rangers today. That makes the Falkirk win last week all the more impressive IMO, although whether they have the home form to sustain a top 6 challenge is another question.

Re: Scottish Premier League - 12th/13th August

To be honest Parahandy,I came away from Tynecastle both amazingly positve about the future results for us but also dissapointed by the fact that we didn't have a striker on the park who could have had us sitting Top of the League on our own irrespective of the result today at East End Park. With a striker who could finish on the park we would have beaten that shower of thugs and cheats and so I regard the result as two points dropped rather than a point gained..

Finally, remember the names Darren Barr and Tam(not Thomas or Tom but Tam) Scobbie. I never saw Gary Gillespie in a Falkirk jersey but Barr is the closest thing to Gillespie at Anfield as I can remember for years and both him and the other member of Yogi's gang in Scobbie are certain Scotland internationals of the future(providing they leave Falkirk of course .Can't remember the last Internationalist we had who played for Scotland's full side whilst still at the club-Biased Glasgow Football Association as usual )
