Scottish Ramsden's Cup: 23rd July

The old alba cup is now the Ramsden's cup and it's a great way to get you in the mood for the new season. Next week we'll have the league cup (forget the new name)

kompressaur is now barred from here but he does like 4 teams this weekend at nice enough prices. He asked me to post so as some of his old friends can "get some in" He's a twat but still he knows his stuff.

Morton went down to stranraer last season in the same round of this cup and gubbed them 7-1. this was when Stranraer was being backed by all of komp and his comprades at 10/1 for the season as they looked so good. granted they laid them off about October and got on Arbroath but this season stranraer are not the same team. theyve lost top scored One (pronounced owna) and midfield general Agnew. Morton seem to have got a team that will surpass anything theyve know for 20 seasons this year and i aint saying it will be 7-1, maybe 9-1 would be a more reasonable suggestion. Only joking we'll take 1-0 at the odds.

Cowdenbeath and their new backroom staff and managerial team travel to local rivals Raith Rovers again in this cup as per last season. when Mcglynn had raith running good they still couldnt beat the 'Beath and i see more of the same. They gave them probs in the league and they will cause them probs on saturday. 4/1 is a great price and one i will be on.

On Sunday a rampant looking Dumbarton look to have the measure over an east Stirlingshire side who have about 1 player from last year. I think EAst stirling are back on £10 a week wages and the likes of Prunty etc for dumbarton should have a field day. Take them to win and also also take them minus a few goals.

first day of the season take Montrose to beat east stirlinshire too Plastic pitches are the thing with these teams and Montrose should be 10/11 not 6/4.

Can't argue with Mr Focker (can I call you Titty?) and his mate here. I don't know much about Scottish football, but I do know that East Stirling have generally been the league's whipping boys over the last few seasons. Even their web site accepts that their new manager will find the season a challenge, and their forum just seems happy that they're able to field a team this afternoon - some of those are on very short contracts and have only been signed in the last few days.

Dumbarton are no world beaters (Division Two) and have doubts over a couple of (apparent) first teamers, but have had a decent pre-season and also seem to have recruited well.

The odds on Dumbarton have been falling and I suspect the 4/9 now available is marginal value, if any. Small stakes for me, to be topped up in-play if they go a couple of goals up and look like running rampant, and if in-play is available for this competition.

Cheers Rob. aye we was lucky. the morton result was pretty good though lol it wasnt quite 9-1 but i had the right idea. anyhow im just a google search away of you need the best scottish tips on the net chaps. Cant see this post staying mind
