These are 2 sentanta cup games to be played this weekend Linfield had a draw last week with St Pat's . now with a chance of qualifying for the next round i cannot see them slipping up at home .

Boh's have a chance of winning the section and out of sort's Glentoran will be pushed to get anything out of this contest .

Linfield @ 2.10 and Bohemiens @ 1.44 for a neat 3.02 double.

In the league, Ballymena on a high after the cup win midweek face Portadown who also won their game now the two meet in the Semi-final in a couple of week's time .We have here a league game between the two as both would want to finish in the top 6 if possible this has the makings of a cracker. It is hard to seperate the pair of them if Ballymena as i often say are in the mood they can make home advantage count.

Crusaders @ 1.50 can make home advantage count, Newry i feel have their minds on the Irish Cup game replay which is a farce one day it's on then another appeal and it's off.

Dungannon @ 2.40 must beat neighbours Glenavon to hold on to a top 6 position it wont be easy but i think they have the extra firepower to win this one.

Institute @ 1.61 have a tough game ahead with fellow strugglers i have seen both playing lately and i think the home advantage will benifit the 'Stute. They had hard luck on tue night loosing 2-1 at Glentoran where they missed a penalty and had their central defender sent off.

Re: Irish League sat 13 th march

Hi Greenie i've checked the local irish league forum where the various supporters post their feelings etc . After the midweek defeat in the cup against B'mena the G'von fans are in a glum mood all the talk is of players for release and who they would like to see coming in. They seem to agree that 12 or more players will be bombed out and moral is low as even a top6 is out the window.

Dungannon have a chance of making the top 6 and their supporters are looking forward to getting a win here tommorrow. Unlike G'von they have a good young team they have a excellent youth programme and have brought 3/4 through this season. Their under 18 team beat our under 18 team 5-0 last night in the youth cup semi's , no question the outlook at Dungannon is promising provided they can hold unto their youngsters without Linfield sniffing around or mainland clubs.

Summing up moral is a plus at Dungannon wheras at G'von th're in the dumps.

Re: Irish League sat 13 th march

Just got this off Glenavon forum

Marty Quinn is struggling to put together a squad of fit players for tomorrow’s visit of Dungannon Swifts. Ryan Harpur sits out the second game of his two-match suspension, Willo McDonagh is suffering flu-like symptoms, Barry Johnston is doubtful after struggling through recent games with a rib injury and Tony Grant, Hugh Dickson and Conor Walsh all have medial ligament strains.
Midfielder Ryan Murphy and striker Joe Finlay will be drafted into the squad, both players currently showing excellent form with Gerard McMahon’s Reserves side which beat Dungannon Swifts Reserves last night.
“We didn’t take any of the three good chances we created on Tuesday night and Ballymena put theirs away but for both goals our defending was poor as the United players were able to waltz straight through the middle. We owe the fans big time after the last couple of results so we’ll be trying to pick up as many points as possible in the last eight League games, hopefully starting with three points tomorrow and a win in the Mid-Ulster Cup on Tuesday,” was Marty’s assessment ahead of tomorrow’s game.

I ALSO checked the local bookies and a few i have checked have jumped ship.

I'm sure D'gannon will be up for this game as finishing in the top 6 has big financial benifits.

Re: Irish League sat 13 th march

Found this

Glenavon v Dungannon
<HR style="COLOR: #cacaca" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Don't know if it's been mentioned yet but bookmakers are no
longer taking bets on Glenavon v Dungannon game tomorrow.
Apparently,(from a bookies mouth too),alot of dodgy betting
patterns on a Dungannon win.

================================================== ======

Bookies have run for cover, not something i would have suspected with either of these
clubs . I know Marty Quinn personaly he was our manager [Coleraine] for 9 years and never was known to be involved in any nonsense like this .

Re: Irish League sat 13 th march

a few weeks back in a game involving Cliftonville, the same stories emerged and the game was pulled by several bookies after some hefty bets on a Reds win. My mate called Eddie Patterson and he said he knew nothing about it...but the bet duly came in...the fact is, the manager would probably not be in on the coup.

I once sat in a barbers with Marty Quinn.

Fancy Bohemians to overwhelm Glens.

Re: Irish League sat 13 th march

Linfield 1-0 St Pat's Athletic

Peter Thompson of Linfield competes against Ian Bermingham
Linfield snatched a late win over St Pat's Athletic at Windsor Park to go through to the semi-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup.

After Aidan O'Kane's cross into the area, Thompson pounced on a mistake by defender Shane Guthrie and sent a low left-foot shot past Gary Rogers.

Linfield will meet League of Ireland champions Bohemians in the last four.

Glentoran 1-1 Bohemians
