Re: Coca-Cola League One 8-9th Feb

Do or die time for Stimson (Gills manager) as i'm pretty certain hes going to get the sack if we dont get 3 points..got thumped 4-0 at Brentford at the weekend but according to those that went we weren't that bad, hit the post and bar and they got two penalties one of which was debatable, our defence just goes to pieces away..we are always better at home..Tranmere are pretty crap away also but they have had some tough fixtures recently..dont think we have any further injury problems but this is certainly a pressure game for us, dont expect there to be many fans there and the atmosphere will prob be pretty tense, wouldnt bet on it to be honest but im hoping for the 3 points..whether that will be enough to save Stimson for another week or two remains to be seen...

Re: Coca-Cola League One 8-9th Feb

I know I'm a mug but as there is a game on the box tonight I have to have a bet.

Colchester v Southend

Looking at the current form Colchester have only lost to the top 2 - Leeds and Norwich in their last 9 games - ok they havent really played any other top of the table team except MK Dons.
Southend have beaten Orient and Hartlepool but apart from that not much else.

Colchester won the reverse fixture 2-1 on boxing day.

So early indications is HOME WIn...

Re: Coca-Cola League One 8-9th Feb

team news from bbc (always take with a pinch of salt)

Quote:
Colchester could be boosted by the returns of Kevin Lisbie (thigh), Christian Ribeiro and Paul Reid (both groin) for the Essex derby.
Winger Ashley Vincent (ankle) is back in training but will not play.
Southend could give a debut to winger Sanchez Watt following his arrival on loan from Arsenal.
Midfielder Alan McCormack is suspended, while on-loan Colchester duo Pat Baldwin and Scott Vernon cannot play against their parent club.
SO going with that as well looks promising for a home win although Watt is a useful player and if he gets to run at the defenders he could cause problems.

Hi, colchester fan here, obviously going for the win tonight, got a few key players back from injury, with Reid back the defence should be watertight, and lisbie upfront should cause a few problems. The pitch is in a bit of a state and doesn't really suit flowing football, so a wise bet would be to put money on either of our big men, Platt or Odejayi to score (depending on who starts). Southend were a whisker away from administration earlier in the year, and have been unable to add many players to their team, leaving it very thin. Can't see anything other than a Col U win tonight, I've gone for 2-0.

Reid and Lisbie not even making the bench, so they're still not fit . Boothroyd not at the match due to family illness. Despite that, definately backing Colchester for the win, especially Platt or Odejayi to score.

Rene Howe was injured before the game on sat so might not be playing which would be a blow as Simeon needs a partner to play alongside (although its not certain Howe wont play!), other than that we'll be near full strength (which isnt very strong) apart from our best player King who's been out all season..
