Re: CC League Two: 08/09 Ante Post
No value whatsoever at that kind of price, I'd say. There was plenty of talk towards the end of last season too of whether we'd go into administration if we got relegated, quite a few people seemed to think we would. Whether we will or not I've no idea, but we've just reduced a 12m debt to a 3m debt through the chairman selling the ground to himself (well, a newly created company headed by himself), and bearing in mind the chairman's currently about as popular as a condom salesman in the Vatican, that's probably not a good position to be in. If he decided to turn nasty, we could end up in a similar position to Rotherham and without our own ground.
Can't imagine anything possibly happening during the pre-season that would shorten our price much from 8/1, but I can think of plenty of things which would lengthen it considerably, if you're thinking of backing them I'd hold fire for a while yet. |

Re: CC League Two: 08/09 Ante Post
Just been deducted 10pts for dodgy transfer dealings. Also likely to get a 15pt deduction for the same reasons as Leeds last season, so they may well be starting the season on -25pts.

Early days but at the moment i like the chances of Port Vale going straight back up

Re: CC League Two: 08/09 Ante Post
Budget cuts at Darlington and rumoured budget cuts at Wycombe. Accrington have lost their main club and stadium sponsor though, that could hit a side who are already the poorest in the league.
Bradford seem to be showing signs of splashing the cash. Shrewsbury appear as though they might have a very good budget and they've a manager in Paul Simpson who won the league with Carlisle. Bournemouth likely to be deducted 15 pts aswell as Luton, it could happen to Rotherham too. Rotherham have also moved to the Don Valley stadium. At the moment though there's no big favourite. I probably like Chesterfield, I think they're capable of alot better and the signing of Robert Page can only be agood thing. 16/1 on Barnet could be the most ridiculous pricing in the football league. I'd probably not take double that. |

Re: CC League Two: 08/09 Ante Post
Just reading on the news thingy Kop about Port Vale supposedly buying well so far. 6 new signings etc. Luton as low as 16/1 with some and double that with others. Bournemouth price the same. Im liking the sound of Bradford myself and i could back them sooner rather than later

Re: CC League Two: 08/09 Ante Post
Right I see you have all been looking at my club
Here are my thoughts Ins - Robert Page - top class centreback at this level, one of Huddersfields best players last season, will be our captain Kevin Austin - Old veteran of a centreback but played a good few games for Swansea last season, was offered another year there too, must be good enough for league 2. Lloyd Kerry - Central midfielder from Sheff Utd, was on loan at Chesterfield last season, when he performed well. Combative and good enough for this division Paul Harsley - Port Vale player of the season last year, apparently always gives 100% which is good enough in this league Out - Peter Leven - Joins MK Dons - our captain last season, plenty of ability but carries too much weight, played out of position last year a lot so wont be missed too much Issues - Janos Kovacs - not signed new contract - Centre back who is capable and strong but lacks experience - hope he signs on again Jamie Ward - Apparently lots of clubs want him Lack of Wingers - need to get two wide men in to supply the strikeforce Managers inexperience - only 2nd full season in management could hamper the promotion push So at the moment I would not back us, if we get a couple of good wingers in, which apparently could happen soon then we are definately one of the better teams in the league. Keep a close eye on Jamie Ward and the transfer saga as if he stays I might have a dabble on us being the leagues top scorers (if there is a market!!) him and Lester are much better than league 2 standard. So all in all wait and watch our transfers |
