28th/29th/30th March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

this weekend's odds from Coral

Friday 28th
Connahs Quay[14th] v T.N.S.[2nd] 5.50 3.60 1.50
Connah's Quay home form W6 D3 L5
TNS away record W8 D2 L4
Connah's Quay recent form has been poor with a recent win against the totally out of form Caersws
TNS away record recently has been poor for the Champions.
They are now 10 points behind Llanelli with this game in hand , but they are only 3 points ahead of Rhyl.
This is an ideal fixture to get their away form back to winning ways after 2 away wins and a defeat.
TNS could only get a 0-0 draw last Saturday even though they outplayed Newtown , their goalscoring prowess let them down.
It is TNS @ 1.50 for me in this match

Saturday 29th
Welshpool[10th] v Caersws [16th] 1.57 3.50 5.00
Welshpool have nothing but pride to play for and their home record is below average and worse than their away record.
Caersws are on the brink of the relegation zone and lost to fellow strugglers Cefn on Tuesday
Caersws performancce in 2008 has been abysmal with 1 win and 11 defeats
Welshpool are one of top drawing sides in this league but it is the time of year for strange results in this league , and it is very difficult to see Caersws winning this one.

Llangefni [18th]v Neath [7th] 3.50 3.40 1.83
Both these sides came into the league at the start of this season and their performances in this league has been so different. Llangefni struggling after a few good results at the start and Neath coping very well after I tipped them for relegation
If Llangefni win today and Caersws lose they will exit the relegation zone .
Last Saturday they had an excellent 3-0 win at home to Aber.
Llangefni's home form W4 D0 L11
Neath are a difficult side to beat at home
They did have a good win at Welshpool a couple of weeks ago.
Neath are another team that have nothing to play for but I would expect them to be out to prove a point against Llangefni.

Following my performance bettingwise at this stage of the season last year my confidence in these Saturday matches is low in selecting a winner .I will contemplate these Saturday matches before commiting myself.

This weekend is also the semi finals of the Welsh Cup , I think it will be a Bangor v Llanelli final . these odds from Corbetts
Saturday 14:30 Bangor City vs Newport YMCA 1.33 4.00 7.00 @ Newtown

Sunday 13:10 Llanelli vs Rhyl 1.83 3.25 3.50 @ Aber

Connahs Quay v The New Saints 2 @ 1.50
this preview from welsh-premier today
Quote:
THE New Saints travel to Connah's Quay Nomads knowing anything but a win will leave their already slim Welsh Premier title hopes dead in the water.
The Saints currently trail league leaders Llanelli by 10 points, although they have one game in hand over their South Wales rivals and are still to play the Reds at home in the last game of the season.
The other objective is to cement at least the runners-up spot ahead of Rhyl, who are currently only three points behind, although they have played one game more.
The Saints have already lost on Deeside this season, going out of the Welsh Cup on penalties, and football development manager Mike Davies says he is expecting a tough test.
"It will be a tough game. Any game before the end of the season will be tough but we will play our normal game and we need the result," he says.
"It is result first, performance second, we need the points or we will be looking over our shoulders at Rhyl."
Davies stressed the players are still hopeful of overhauling Llanelli but needed to be at their very best to do so.
"Mathematically it is still possible so all we can do is make sure we pick up all the points available," he added.
Martyn Naylor remains sidelined with a thigh injury while Duane Courtney has a fracture, but Chris King is expected to return after injury and Michael Wilde is in contention to start the game upfront.

i've placed a bet on TNS and i was sure I had posted the tip yesterday ,also posted why i won't be betting on the two saturday league matches because i don't think they are value as the relegation fighting sides will be happy with a draw.

So its an away win for TNS for me

Re: 28th/29th/30th March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

Welsh Cup Semi

I see this as an easy Bangor win ,Newport YMCA not having a good season in the Welsh League which is at a lower tier and lower class/ability than Bangor who ned this Cup win for any chance of European football , which has been their target all season , i'll be surprised if Bangor do not score 3 or 4

welsh-premier preview

Quote:
NEWPORT YMCA manager Mark Coldrick says Bangor City hold no fears for his Welsh League minnows in Saturday's Welsh Cup semi-final.
The Gwent outfit have already claimed the scalps of holders Carmarthen, Llangefni and Welshpool in previous rounds and, after watching Bangor lose at Carmarthen on Sunday, the YM boss says: "We watched them and there's nothing for us to fear, they're a decent side with pace up front but nothing particularly stood out.
"Obviously we're the underdogs and we won't underestimate them but we believe we can get another Premier League scalp."
Beaten in two of their last five league games, YM will stay overnight in Newtown on Friday ahead of the Latham Park showdown and Coldrick admits his side have been distracted by their cup run.
"We lost at Afan Lido three days after the Welshpool game and it was a bit like after the Lord Mayor's Show," he added.
"And at Goytre on Tuesday we shuffled our pack a bit with Bangor in mind. The lads were a bit disappointed but it was easy to pick up their heads with such a massive game on the horizon."
With Alex Stewart definitely ruled out, Coldrick is keeping his fingers crossed that giant striker Lewis Sommers can overcome a tweaked hamstring to play.
Meanwhile, Bangor manager Nev Powell says he is looking forward to turning back the clock if his side can lift the trophy.
Powell was a player at Farrar Road when they took on Spanish giants Athletico Madrid in the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup.
"It would be great to experience European football again," said Powell. "We've got a good chance of making it to the final and, if we do that, we're just one game from Europe."

Re: 28th/29th/30th March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

Llanelli v Rhyl 2.20 3.20 2.87

Welsh Cup semi being shown live on S4C being played at neutral Aberystwyth

Rhyl 3rd in the league and are very good at home .
Llanelli 1st who have not lost away and have just drawn two , Llanelli do have keeper problems with their first choice suspended and second choice having a fitness check on his hand today.

Games between these clubs are always close but recently Llanelli have been getting the upper hand.

I'm going on Llanelli @ 2.2

Mar 29 2008 by Our Correspondent, Daily Post

JOHN HULSE wants to make it ninth time lucky against Llanelli in tomorrow’s televised Welsh Cup semi-final at Aberystwyth (1.10pm ko).

The Lilywhites have endured six defeats and two draws in their last eight encounters against the full-timers.

Rhyl boss Hulse said: “This is the biggest cup we can win in the country we play in and we want to bring it back to Belle Vue. It carries a place in the Uefa Cup and we will be holding nothing back.”

Rhyl are targeting their third Welsh Cup triumph in five seasons with victories in 2004 and 2006 , and their fifth in all.

“Llanelli are top of the table and having a very good season but this is a neutral venue and all our matches against them have been really close,” said the Rhyl manager.

The tight results may not have dropped third-placed Rhyl’s way, but having already clinched European action for the fifth consecutive year, confidence is high.

Hulse said: “We’ve had a tremendous last few weeks with four wins and a draw, taking maximum points over Easter to claim a ticket into the Inter-Toto Cup and extend our outstanding record in qualifying for Europe.

“I must thank all my staff and players for what they have achieved, as well as the board and management and all our loyal supporters.

“It’s been a great team effort on and off the field – and we’re not finished yet.”

Hulse is also eyeing up the runners-up spot in the league following the second-placed New Saints’ recent blip in form.

“I had thought the gap was too wide to close but now there’s a glimmer of hope,” he said. “They still have to play both us and Llanelli so the door is back open if the results go the right way.”

Meanwhile, all attention is focused on tomorrow’s big test and Hulse is encouraged by having an enthusiastic full squad available.

“It’s come too soon for our long-term injured pair, Jimmy Kelly and James Brewerton, but everyone else is fit and keyed up to keep our run going,” he said.”

The manager added: “Llanelli and Rhyl have great mutual respect and after our excellent training preparation in midweek we are ready to go.”
