Re: SPL 29th March

I know Gretna have a lot of difficulties but no way do St Mirren represent any value at 2/5. Gretna hled Celtic for 40 odd minutes.

Has other players walked out or something ???

or am I just missing the obvious ???

Gretna Football Club can reluctantly confirm that redundancies have been made today.
Senior players David Bingham, Mark Birch, Mickael Buscher, Aurélien Collin, Chris Innes, Henry Makinwa, David Mathieson, Erik Paartalu and Michael Tait have all left the club.
Youth players Mario Campagna, Jake Cunningham, Liam Cusack, Grant Easton, Nicholas Faulds, Conor Grant, Joseph Hughes, Callum McKinlay, Christopher Moffet, Jack Pattison, Alex Redfern, Ryan O’Hara and Daniel Smee have also been let go.
Due to the financial circumstances of the football club, we are no longer in a position to continue with the youth programme and community activities and have had to make several cutbacks accordingly.
We regret that we have had to take this action but feel we need to dedicate all our resources into the first team unless there is a change in circumstances.
We would like to thank everyone for their services and wish them every success in the future.

Re: SPL 29th March

The only player to leave gretna today was the striker that come off the bench against Celtic - Makinwa and he looked very shite against Aberdeen. So is 2/5 good value for St Mirren, no imho as watched both and was surprised at how organised Gretna are considering the trouble they are in while felt that St Mirren was ok against the dons but not great. Gretna also looked pretty organised against Celtic and had a few chances against them

Pretty much stay away for me on that although tempter on to back 10/1 for Gretna very very small which i don't think they are that

yea milners you have got it spot on there....none of gretnas starting 11 against celtic
last sunday have left the club today.....so all should be playing against st mirren.....there
is no way i would take a skinny price on st mirren......as they are a poor team also....they are not 2nd bottom of the leauge for nothing......im not trying to put anybody off backing st mirren...they could win very easy.....all im saying dont be fooled
by that talk today of all them players leaving.....as gretna will have the same team on
saturday as they had last sunday against celtic.......

Trying to lure the punters in, I'm tempted to say back Gretna on the handicap.

Re: SPL 29th March

Don't think they'll lure many in at these odds Spacecat. Agree St Mirren are way too short. A team nowhere near averaging a goal a game shouldn't be that price against anybody. Gretna have conceded a minimum of 3 goals in their last 7 SPL games but its hard to see Saints scoring that many.

I wouldn't go near this match as its meaningless.

Re: 29th March: SPL

this time i m on the right thread.... :P

offering +1.75 AH for Gretna....just too tempting to back them...i have actually watched them against rangers...n there weren't too bad actually...not sure why they got hammered so badly after promotion...really no clue on their players as I do not follow SPL that closely. Looking at the odds, it may even go to +2

No chances taken by layers on crisis club Gretna
by Steve Davies

THE crisis at Gretna, which reached a peak this week with the sacking of eight senior players, has prompted several bookmakers to pull down their prices on the club's trip to St Mirren tomorrow.

Totesport are the biggest bookmaker to shut the book on theLove Street tussle, with Stan James and Bet365 among other firms who yesterday declined to keep up prices.

“With so many rumours circulating that more and more players could be leaving, we felt we had no option,” said Totesport spokesman Paul Petrie.“We'd already cut St Mirren a few times as the news at Gretna continued to get worse.”

The SPL match is on Totesport's coupons but shop staff have been instructed not to take bets, though the firm does insist it could yet reopen the book.

St Mirren were last night a top price of 3-10 with Coral while Gretna were available at 10-1 with Skybet and VCbet.

Re: 29th March: SPL

I'm interested in Dundee Utd. They have played some nice football this season and Hearts are really unpredictable but one thing that jumps out to me is that Hearts will not want to do anybody any favours (Hibs) by beating Dundee Utd today for European qualification.

I know it 'probably' won't come into it but its another slant. maybe my mischievious mind but Dundee Utd at 2/1 or over looks a decent shout.
