Re: 8/9th Mar: Scottish Cup

Queen of the South v Dundee @ 17/10 William Hill

Thought I'd flag this up as this price won't be around come Sat I wouldn't think. Queen of the South are the form team in division One and would've interested me at this price even if I hadn't read the followng in the P&J this morning:

"Dundee manager Alex Rae will not make a playing comeback in this weekend's Scottish Cup tie against Queen of the South despite deepening selection worries.

The Dens side are without the injured Scott Robertson, suspended pair Kevin McDonald and Gary McKenzie and have January signings Michael Antoine-Curier and Colin McMenamin cup tied.

Winger Gavin Swankie is also toiling after picking up a thigh problem"

Thats five first team players who have played almost every game in the past two months, effectively half their first team is missing. The two January signings have scored a high percentage of Dundee's goals in recent weeks so they alone are a huge loss

This is from QOS's website; their manager - Gordon Chisholm:

"Without any doubt this will be the biggest match of the season for us. But it will be the same for Dundee and they'll be out for revenge as we knocked them out of the Scottish Cup last season.

"We've beaten them twice already in the league this season and although we don't fear them, we do respect them. Everyone in the dressing-room is now 'straining at the leash' for Saturday to arrive. Most of them have never experienced what it's like to play in a semi-final before and I want them to find out what a great occasion it really is.

"Up until Monday we've been concentrating on the league and the cup has never been mentioned, but now the hype has started in earnest. There was a Press Conference at Hamilton this afternoon and that's put everyone even more in the mood.

"It's a massive game and Palmerston will be 'bursting at the seams'. It's an old-fashioned ground which helps create a magical atmosphere, but it will be a hard one and we must 'keep or feet on the ground'.

"It's 58 years since Queen of the South last featured in a Scottish Cup semi-final and that says it all! We must concentrate fully on the task in hand and do our best for the club and supporters alike. We came close last season against Hibs but I honestly feel we have a more realistic chance of succeeding this time".

I'm taking the 17/10 available on them and will have a dabble at the half time/full time market too at 4/1 (widely available)

My stakes could get higher as team news appears regarding Queen of the South.

So.....

Queen of the South v Dundee @ 17/10 - William Hill
QOS/QOS - Halft Time/Full Time @ 4/1 - widely available.

Re: 8/9th Mar: Scottish Cup

Sorry Col i missed this down here. That team news from Dundee does make it interesting. you'll know i take QOS's recent form with a pinch of salt a bit and i do under-rate them. their 2 quick goals when up at Dundee 5 or 6 weeks ago cost me big. Holy hell dundee really do have their frontline out. Who they gonna have? I'll go read some p&b on it. Aye interesting Col and thanks for pointing it out so early to us.

Dundee have signed Patrick Noubissie from Hibernian on an emergency loan ahead of the Scottish Cup quarter final at Dumfries on Saturday and the midfielder is eligible to play in the tie. Patrick played against Dundee as a trialist for Livingston on the opening day of the season before signing for Hibs, he was loaned back to Livingston and made a further eight appearances for the West Lothian club, he’s also made four first team appearances for Hibs this season. His loan runs until the end of the season
