Word of warning to anyone considering having Airdrie on their line tonight. The result shouldn't be in doubt, but the actual chances of the game going ahead maybe. We are having some problems with drainage at the moment and Celtic under 21's had a game postponed on Monday that was scheduled to be played at our ground. Currently, according to the latest news from the club (
Airdrie United Football Club) the pitch is fine and the game will go ahead, however it is now raining and any persistant heavy rain between now and kick-off will likely see the game being postponed.
As for the game...I couldn't make to Hampden on Saturday to see us return to winning ways, however by all accounts it was a slightly improved performance from recent games. As I continue to emphasise, we miss Holmes and particularly McDougall, both of whom give us something different which we don't have at the moment. Having seen Berwick only once this season (a 4-0 victory at home in November/December) they were the poorest side I had seen for a while and we beat them comfortably that day without having to play well. Seemingly, they have improved slightly since then but it would be a real shock if we did not win tonight and this is reflected in the odds of about 1/4. Value on this game alone is hard to find but it should be a 'banker' in any potential acca. I am considering taking us along with Chelsea and possibly Liverpool in a treble.
