Re: 1st/2nd March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

some of my thoughts

Connah's Quay[15th] v Haverfordwest[10th]
Connah's Quay suffered a heavy defeat last Saturday,losing 6-1 at Aber .
Haverfordwest do not have great away record but they did win 2-1 at Caersws on Tuesday.

Llangefni[18th] v Port Talbot [6th]
Llangefni lost 7-1 at TNS last week to continue they terrible defensive record , in their last 6 matches they have conceeded 27 goals. They also lost in a Cup match on Tuesday to a team from a lower tier.
Port Talbot recent form is good with only one defeat against in their last 10 games , that includes a win against TNS

Newtown [11th] v Aberystwyth [8th]
Two mid table sides with poor away records, Aber have scored 12 goals in their last two matches.
I saw them score six against my side Porthmadog , they played some good passing football.
Aber rarely lose against Newtown but a draw could be a danger.
I am considering Aber but await any further news

Porthmadog [17th] v Airbus [12th]
My team Port have yet to win at home ,in their last home fixture they lost 6-2 but they did win 4-2 away at fellow strugglers Caersws last week.
In their present predicament this is a must win game for Port , but with their terrible home record a win will be a massive task.
Airbus do have a poor away record but do pull off some good wins now and again ,i'm hoping this will be one of their off days.
Not a game to bet on though.

Re: 1st/2nd March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

Caersws sack their manager , this from welsh-premier

Quote:
BARTON LEAVES CAERSWS HOTSEAT

Assistant Dave Taylor (left) takes over from manager Mike Barton at Caersws.
MIKE Barton has stepped down from the managerial hotseat at Caersws after nine months in charge of the Welsh Premier strugglers.
The Bluebirds are currently just three points above the drop zone and the move follows a meeting of the club's committee on Wednesday night when Barton was handed an ultimatum following concern over the lowly league position.
Barton, who was appointed manager last June after the long-serving Mickey Evans decided to quit after 15 seasons in charge, said today: "Whoever took over from Mickey had a difficult job and, although we struggled early on, I felt I was getting my teeth into the job in the last three or four months.
"Both Dave Taylor and I have put in a lot of work and, despite results, I was confident of us staying-up

Re: 1st/2nd March Welsh Premier League and Welsh Cup

The Welsh Cup produce upsets regularly , can we find one?

Guilsfield have been the giant killers up to now , this preview from welsh-premier , I can't give you much info as I know very little of Guilsfield , do not where it is , near Welshpool I believe.

Guilsfield v Bangor

this from welsh-premier

Quote:
GUILSFIELD enjoy another rare moment in the Welsh football spotlight on Saturday when they bid to claim a fourth Welsh Premier scalp.
The mid-Wales villagers entertain high-flying Bangor City at their tiny Recreation Ground with S4C cameras again present in the hope of recording another shock.
Sp far, the Cymru Alliance outfit have knocked-out Connah's Quay , Airbus and Caernarfon Town in one of the best-ever Welsh Cup runs by a minnow side.
"It's the biggest game that we have ever had. We are just 180 minutes away from the Welsh Cup final and European football," says chairman Paul Harding.
"We are going into the match as underdogs but also full of confidence. The pressure is going to be on Bangor City and we will have nothing to lose."
Appropriately, the cup success has come in the club's 50th anniversary seasons and, despite a disappointing league position, the Guils are planning major ground improvements for a tilt at Welsh Premier promotion.
Defender Lee Davies misses the match through holiday commitments, while midfielder Gareth Jones departs for New Zealand.
Meanwhile, the Citizens will be wary of a cup upset, despite their much-improved form this season. Goals have been hard to come by for the Farrar Road outfit in recent matches, with recent signing Karl Noon likely to be given the nod upfront alongside leading scorer Ashley Stott.
28 February 2008
Another match that could produce an upset is Cefn v Llanelli

Llanelli requested the change to this fixture from Friday to Sunday because of the funeral of Gilbert Lloyd , former manager of Llanelli , on Friday.
Team news for Sunday will be all important as Llanelli have a top of table clash at home to TNS on Tuesday , this will be a very important fixture that will have an influence on who wins the league this year. Where will Llanelli's priorities be? Its got to be the league , so we could see a weakened side against Cefn who are a bottom of the table team.
