Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

On first glance im liking the two 1/2's available on the top two sides who are both playing sides in the bottom half of the table and who havent been playing very well recently. Chester are on a major downward slope while Bury are a bad lot. Theres two much at stake for the Dons and Pterboro for either of them to slip up.

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

I completely agree Cinny, looks a good double.

I'm sticking with the away theme again this week though and i've a good feeling about Wycombe . They have a couple of 1-0 wins to their name of late and 8/5 looks quite big for a team that have Leon Knight and Scot Mcgliesh upfront. Lincoln have been in great form but i've a feeling it might not be their day, manager Peter Jackson goes into hospital after the game and he's just been awarded the dreaded manager of the month for February. I'll chance the Wycombe, a win here and they cant be ruled out for automatic promotion.

Shrewsbury @ 7/4 and Chesterfield @ 2/1 looks a bit generous too, i'll do singles , doubles and a treble on all three

Good luck all

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

Good to see you Kop. Ive a good feeling about your picks this week Kop and im gonna go back them the now. Ill have a read of this too-

Quote:
Wycombe look worth backing when they travel to Sincil Bank to take on a Lincoln side who are flying at present!

Imps boss Peter Jackson won manager of the month for February after guiding Lincoln to five wins from six games in the month, a run that has seen them move 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

It will be Jackson's last game in charge before heading into hospital for an operation having been diagnosed with throat cancer, and while the players will be busting a gut to give him a good send off they might pump themselves up for the game too much and let the occasion get to them.

Despite their impressive recent run Lincoln have still been beaten eight times at home this season and at 37/20 with Expekt Wycombe have to be looked at more closely, especially with Paul Lambert's men playing some good football of their own of late.

The Chairboys have won three of their last five games and in their last two have picked up impressive wins over Rochdale and Rotherham and since the turn of the year have lost just three of their 11 league games.

Keeping cleansheets in their last two games against fellow play-off hopefuls will have done their defence the world of good in terms of morale, and while Lincoln are in a rich vein of form Wycombe still believe they can grab an automatic promotion spot this term and look too big to beat an Imps side that might be running out of steam after a great set of results.

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

My pick from this division this weekend is:

MK Dons(-1) vs Chester: MK Dons winners!

Dons are heading for promotion and 3 points are essential against a poor Chester side.

Prediction: 3-1

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

MK Dons recent form not too good. 2 wins in last 8 in league, and no win in last 4 at home in league. They are without suspended pair Keith Andrews and Dean Lewington.
I might have a wee lay of them myself.

Will back Chesterfield at Rochdale if Jack Lester is confirmed fit. Neither side in form, Rochdale lost their last 4 at home, and lost half their home league games.

Stockport at around 12/5 look value at Hereford. Stockport have won their last 6 away games, and won 7 out of their last 10 league games.

Dagenham have won their last 4 scoring 14 goals in the process. At 13/5 they look vlaue to win at Bradford.

Stockport and Dagenham are both 11/4 with bet direct and a few other bookies.

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

Will post the best buys tomorrow within an hour of game time. In the meantime:

Eng League Two
Soccer - Rotherham/Accrington - total Over 2½ (-122)
for the regulation time held on Mar 1 at 10:00am [pending]

Rotherham 30-23 in 17 home games (59% overs), Accrington 21-32 in 17 away (59% overs). Current overs form a muddle, but 5th-place Rotherham looking to solidify its high table position against a poor team, while 17th-place Accrington doesn't want to slip lower...

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

I came on here to see if anyone thought the 6/1 on Chester at MK Dons looked a bit big but most of you seem to be on the side of the Dons (except Tricky!)

This league has thrown up quite a few big priced aways this season. I can't agree with the 1/2 on MK Dons. They've actually not won in 5 at home if you include this week's defeat to Swansea. Chester have won more away (7) than at home (4) too, so there's a lot more for me to get excited about at 6/1 than 1/2.

Need to dig a bit deeper on this one.

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

I quite like Mansfield at first glance, they've looked better than their league position suggests when I've seen them televised albeit in 2 FA Cup games. I think they can save themselves, Wrexham's manager's honeymoon period looks over. But it's St David's Day, is that a reason to not back against a Welsh team lol

Stockport can equal two club records tomorrow (consecutive away wins, consecutive games scoring) and there's been quite a bit made of it locally. I think there'll be a big & loud away following in the hope of seeing it. Need to research but I think Hereford are better away from Edgar St, if so I like the away win, maybe on the AH

Re: Coca Cola League 2 1st March

chers chaps good to read some thoughts on this league. It might even make me start putting my 'English Line' back on. Ive been too busy to be bothered for too long.
Quote:
League Two remains on the road to profit
by Dan Childs
.
ONLY one of five away teams won in League Two on Tuesday night, and some bookmakers are praying that it marks the end of a remarkable run of away success in the basement.

Last Saturday's return of eight road wins from 12 was more typical of a crazy division in which you could have made £1,500 simply by putting £10 on every away side.

More than 70 per cent of this campaign's League Two fixtures have been completed and the away teams are continuing to run riot. There have been 160 road wins in England's fourth tier this season – 17 more than the tally of home victories.

It is looking increasingly likely that there could be more away successes than home wins by the end of the season and layers are already having to take notice of the unusual phenomenon.

Sporting offer weekly spreads on home teams' collective supremacy over away sides in each of the four English divisions and they have had to shift their position on fourth-tier games.

Football trader Anthony Gray said: “At the start of the season a normal homes over aways
supremacy spread would be around the 3.0 mark, but these days it is more like 1.5 or 2.0.

“Yet we are still noticing that there is more interest in selling the homes supremacy in League Two than the other divisions.”

A group of six promotion-chasing teams are responsible for 62 (38.75 per cent) of the 160 away wins and there is a belief that the quality of these sides is making them adopt a more positive stance on the road.
Gray said: “This season big spenders like MK Dons, Peterborough and Darlington have assembled better teams than the rest of the division and their positive attitude to away games may be distorting the overall picture.”

But there is still a general feeling that away teams will not continue to reign.

Bet365's Steve Freeth said: “The longer it continues the more we will have to keep it at the back on our minds, but we still think that this is a one-off and we won't be taking evasive action.”

Rochdale have been the most profitable away team to follow this season – punters backing them at a level £10 stake would have made a £173.75 profit.

But Stockport, who have made their £10 level stake backers £168, can usurp Rochdale's
position if they defy odds of 11-4 about them winning at Hereford tomorrow.
