SPL Tips For This Weekend

Sorry for disappointing anyone that came into this thread hoing for one. I actively discourage myself from reading about the SPL. The minutes i would use reading about the SPL in the paper i would rather reread the scots 1-2-3. I've a problem with all things fashionable you see. The Human League being a great example. Once they got the girls in that was it ruined for me.

The best prices im getting are-
23 February 2008
15:00 Dundee Utd (18/19) Draw (12/5) Falkirk (16/5) 105%
15:00 Hibernian (10/11) Draw (12/5) Inverness (38/11) 104%
15:00 Motherwell (20/19) Draw (9/4) Hearts (11/4) 106%
24 February 2008
14:00 St Mirren (9) Draw (4) Celtic (2/5) 101% View all odds
15:00 Kilmarnock (13/8) Draw (23/10) Aberdeen (7/4) 105%
15:00 Rangers (1/8) Draw (7) Gretna (20) 106%

All looks a bit hard to me. Well it would seeing as i only read about SPL in the loo about 12 weeks later

I'm going for Aberdeen to bounce back and bet Kilmarnock. They done ok in Munich considering and although moral might not be at its highest - i think they'll have had a good time and will be looking to get back into the SPL routine.

Actually fancy Killie myself. The post-Euro hangover is always predictable and Aberdeen would be a sitting duck against most teams...whether Killie can take advantage is another matter but they didn't play too badly against Rangers and they might just have a wee boost from the fact Gretna have imploded and they should now be free of pressure.

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

thats a superb price komp, i may even include that in a wee overs treble im looking at.

inverness and motherwell played out what looks to have been a decent game in midweek at fir park. all end to end action with both sets of goal posts being rattled a few times, penalty decisions all over the place, outside the box volleyed goals etc motherwell won 3-1 and were probably good for it given the the post hitting from ict. if we play as open as we were forced to there then there will be a few goals. another 3-1 maybe.

by the end of the normal season i expect hibs and hearts to be in the top 6, this is exactly the kind of game inverness lose this time of year (as was motherwell) and a game hibs will need a win from to get up there. we've flirted with the top six every season until mid feb like an aberdeen whore on parents night but never quite manage, id expect us to be fighting it out with falkirk and aberdeen for 7-8-9th places (ahead of st mirren and killie).

midweek i was suspicious of the motherwell win, in my heart of hearts i knew it was coming, if i wasnt such a bloody fan id have laid inverness that night. infact theres dozens of games i wouldve laid us in, tomorrow would be one of those days too often i tell people to NO BET ICT games online, as i dont have the heart to say we're going to lose.

i always wonder why so few race horse owners lay their own runners, or why so many shite golfers or tennis players dont lay themselves more.. ive always said that if i was one id be at it all the bloody time! i suppose you could say my support for ict hinders me from making money from them, which is ridiculous, as i base my bets on team news, form, intuition etc there isnt a team in the world i have a better understanding of!

an overs bet is neutral though, i can live with that

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

cracking stuff spacecat thanks. 3-1 was just the scoreline i was thinking of too when i saw it mentioned. I dont know the latest goals by each team or the h2h goals but i was expecting the over 2.5 to be 4/6 or something. I will consider all this whilst i turn into a drunken bum till the wee small hours.

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

we missed ian black in midweek, no idea why he was dropped to the bench, motherwell had loads of time on the ball down the middle because of it.

he'll be back in tomorrow which should give us 2 lines of 4 and 5 across the middle, all very rigid and great for stifling hibs midfield. the good thing is that itll make us more likely to score, we play our best when the midfielders can go and support the forward without worrying about cover behind them, aslong as one team scores in the first half itll be a blood bath for the goalies. the game will open up and over 2.5 will be about 1/8 on the exchanges

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

Rangers -2 on the straight handicap are 5/4 with William Hill. That looks a giveaway to me against Gretna at Ibrox. Don't need to say more.

The same firm go 11/4 Celtic -2 against St Mirren and that has a lot of appeal too. Celtic scored 5 last time at Love Street on the back of a CL match against Spartak Moscow and the way they have been playing and scoring freely recently on the domestic front (5 against Killie in the cup, 5 at Aberdeen followed by a 3-0 win last weekend v Hearts), has me thinking this is a good bet at such good odds.

2 singles and a double on those.

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

Killie - Dons. Tend to go along with Keg, it is time for Aberdeen to bounce back. I am not sure whether Munich should be of any significance, I somehow tend to worry when you go through, not when you lose. Aberdeen did show some stability lately, despite the losses and they should be back playing some ok football. It just goes down to - will it happen tomorrow or the next game. Still I am on their side. Killie, hm, they havent been so bad for seasons. i believe they would die to show some fine performance after a while, but I just can see them doing it. they will try, and that can bring them one point, but they will struggle in each and every game till the end of season.

St Mirren - Celtic. After last weeks loss at falkirk, it is just a question when will St Mirren concede the first goal and when will the Bhoys stop. HTFT Celtic would be the finest choice. Celtic wont push I believe, two, three goals, quick enough to have the rest of the game to relax. Celtic EH is also a good choice.

Rangers will probably do the same to Gretna, but I would not be surprised to see something like 6-2 scoreline. In fact I am very very interested in both teams to score. Thats what Gretna do - they attack without much defending sense. I was hoping last week they will try to do something about collecting points just for the sake of having a wee chance of not going down, but no, they keep playing what they play, and as the end of seasons approaches I can just see them playing higher and higher scoring games. HTFT Rangers is a must, and any HC that can be found is worth taking

Re: SPL Tips For This Weekend

I also fancy Rangers -2 today.

Maybe also a bet on Gretna not to score. Before the game in Athens, Rangers went 8 hands without conceding a goal !
