Re: Scottish Premier - 3rd/4th November

Celtic aint playing so hot i hear but they always do wilmarnock down at Kilmarnock at whatever price dont they? Killie have had a few back the last few weeks and i know nothing else bar that but going to killie might be a good time for Celtic to start getting back on the winning trail however bad their playing imo.

Arent Gretna about due a win? Theyve been playing not bad in defeat havent they? . Motherwell St Mirren looks a good game. How the h2h's been on that lately?

heh heh its the usual lay of Rangers and under 2.5 bet in that one for me. Been a bit unlucky in it lately. Ooooo Hibs Hearts. Usually a few goals in that one one...or not possibly Any prices standing out to anyone this week?

Under 2.5 ? Not gonna happen with our defence, which is absolutely woeful. Plus the fact that neither of our 'keepers are playing well at the moment.

Niculae for his 1st league goal though.

Re: Scottish Premier - 3rd/4th November

here's preview from Bettingzone.

One surprising fact highlighted.

Celtic were humbled by Hearts in the quarter-finals of the CIS Cup in front of just 21,492 fans at Parkhead on Wednesday and Kilmarnock will feel the champions are there for the taking on Saturday lunchtime at Rugby Park.

The Hoops slumped to their third defeat in four games against the Jambos but what will concern boss Gordon Strachan most is that they have failed to score in those three losses.

Strachan has a host of injury problems to contend with, the latest being Lee Naylor who was withdrawn at half-time against Hearts, meaning midfielder Paul Hartley had to fill in at left-back.

Amazingly, Naylor is the only recognised left-back in the Hoops squad and should he miss the trip to Ayrshire, Strachan could find himself fielding four centre-halves, with Darren O'Dea almost certain to take his place and Gary Caldwell being forced to play on the other side of the back four.

Killie will also be lifted by the absence of Shunsuke Nakamura.

The playmaker has yet to find his best form this season, but he loves playing at Rugby Park, scoring four goals in his four appearances there, including the last-minute free-kick which secured the title last season.

The Japanese midfielder will be left out of the squad to make sure he is fit for Tuesday's must-win Champions League clash with Benfica and that game may affect other areas of Strachan's team selection.

The Hoops moved three points clear of Rangers and Dundee United at the top of the SPL last week with a comfortable win over Motherwell but the lead has been changing hands on an almost weekly basis and, incredibly, both halves of the Old Firm have not won on the same weekend for over two months.

Meanwhile, Kille have key players returning from injury and they looked back to form in last week's 3-1 triumph over Hearts.

In short, added to their injury worries, Celtic have failed to score in three of their last four games and have not kept a clean sheet on the road for 13 months in all competitions, making the 13/2 available on a home win rather appealing.

However, it must be remembered that Kilmarnock have not beaten Celtic since 2001 so the 9/2 in the 'draw no bet' market looks better value.

Should the Bhoys slip up at Rugby Park, Hibs will be looking to take advantage when they host bitter rivals Hearts on Sunday.

John Collins' side have enjoyed a superb start to the season and sit fourth in the table, just one point behind Rangers and Dundee United and a further three behind Celtic although the wheels have come off slightly in recent weeks with their stunning success over the Gers at Ibrox followed by defeats against Motherwell and St Mirren.

Hearts on the other hand are all over the place at the moment, having defeated both sides of the Old Firm but are languishing in eighth place in the SPL.

It's almost impossible to pick a winner here with Hearts winning five of the previous 10 meetings, Hibs four and one draw.

Although it's not normally a market we would look to, there looks to be decent value in picking the time of the first goal.

Three of the last four meetings between the teams, as well as two of the last three at Easter Road, have witnessed goals within the first five minutes.

Ally that to the fact that Hibs have opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes in three of their six home games this season (in two others they scored in 11 and 12 minutes) and in five of nine league games overall and a pattern begins to emerge.

With Hibs looking to keep up the pace at the top and Hearts hoping to build on their impressive win at Parkhead, both sides are likely to come out flying in the opening stages and the 7/2 available available on the first goal to be scored between 0 and 10 minutes looks worth a small punt.

Re: Scottish Premier - 3rd/4th November

Guys, just a wee post from my blog...

Hibs v Hearts

Hibs really need to get their season back on track today after two disappointing defeats in recent weeks to Motherwell and St. Mirren. Today they host Edinburgh rivals Hearts, who make the short trip to Easter Road off the back of a terrific 2-0 win at Celtic Park on Wednesday night in the CIS Cup. It’s that win that provides the real pointer for me as to which way this one will go. Some of you may have seen my recent post on the Curse of the Old Firm (where teams that beat either Celtic or Rangers generally lose their next match) and of course, this is Hearts next game after seeing off Celtic in midweek. Will the curse strike again? I think it will.

Hearts season has been punctured by inexplicable defeats, such as the 5-0 thrashing at Celtic Park and losses at home to Inverness and Dundee Utd. But on their day they are more than capable of taking on the best, having already beaten both halves of the Old Firm this season. Hibs have also beaten both Celtic and Rangers but have shown more consistency and a win today would take them into 3rd place, just a point behind the Gers.

Team news appears to favour Hibs, with the return of Fletcher, Beuzelin and Morais, whereas Hearts will be without the influential Kingston and Elliot and ‘keeper Banks look set to miss out. Derby games are always a minefield to call, but the Curse of the Old Firm swings it in Hibs favour for me today. Back them to win at 6/5 with Coral or Paddy Power.

Hearts have the spirit to win derby

by Ian Wilkerson

YOU cannot write Hearts off. You cannot believe that all the talk of unrest and boardroom tinkering is going to have the predictable effect on the pitch.

If ever there was a team that warns punters against taking things at face value, it's this one.

On Wednesday, following a dismal display at Kilmarnock when they imploded after being reduced to ten men, they won 2-0 at Celtic in the CIS Cup.

And it was fully deserved as well with an organised performance that was rewarded by two goals from Andrius Velicka.

The question that remains is whether this result will be a flash in the pan or they will be able to drag themselves away from the lower reaches of the table with a sustained run? This afternoon, we get the answer.

A couple of weeks ago Hibs would have been highly fancied, but following the euphoria of winning at Rangers they lost their unbeaten record with a defeat at Motherwell and, more disappointingly, were also turned over at home to St Mirren.

The latter was dismissed by manager John Collins as an off day, but there may be more in it than that and the 5-2 offered on an away victory today is tempting enough.

Hibs have failed to score in just one game this season and managed to pull off a surprise themselves when they defeated the Jambos on the first weekend of the season.
But losingDean Shiels, who was sent off in the St Mirren game, is a worry.

In contrast, Hearts demonstrated at Parkhead that they could cope without their own suspended striker, Christian Nade.

And, while there will be a very different atmosphere than the one Hearts came across at a third-full Celtic, they should be able to revel in the conditions.

Michael Stewart, who made the short trip from Easter Road during the summer, has been inspirational when the Jambos put it together this season and he can helpdrive the visitors on.

They have been organised while Hibs have been ineffective up front in the last few weeks and that is what tips the balance, especially at the prices.

Recommendation
Hearts, 2pts 5-2

Hibernian
Striker Dean Shiels is suspended after being sent off in last weekend's defeat at home to St Mirren. However, Filipe Morais is available after his ban and Guillaume Beuzelin and Steven Fletcher have also returned to fitness.

Hearts
Calum Elliot is an injury doubt, but fellow forward Christian Nade returns from suspension. Keeper Steve Banks has a wrist injury, while midfielder Laryea Kingston faces four weeks out with a knee injury
